  1. Semi-Trivial Things that Make me Surly: Paying $17 for a 2-meat plate at Micklethwait and getting 1 slice of Brisket and 1 slice of Pork Shoulder with two sides scooped into to-go cups the size of which most restaurants would use for ketchup. I've been there before, and was pleased the first time, but yesterday was disappointing.
  2. And then tell us about the Asian food
  3. Good to hear. Think I want to visit this and take my pics in lieu of the Space Needle. The Gum Wall sounds about as appealing as taking picture next to a shit hole however. Was supposed to be boarding a flight this afternoon to Seattle but postponed bc they're getting some snow this weekend. I only have Friday-Sunday to do what I want, and getting snowed in for half of my 3 days (mid-Friday through mid-Saturday) sounded really shitty. Trying again in 3 weeks.
  4. Haven't been to ACL in a few years, I'm not against it, but I haven't felt the need to buy a day pass like I did for Outkast and then Foo Fighters/Tame Impala. It's been a few years. SXSW is my shit though. I think I still have a few good festivals left in me. I'm 31, didn't go to my first until like 24/25, and I've gotten better at it each year. Somewhere in the middle a few years ago I reached a point where I thought I was over it, hanging out with friends chasing free wristbands to drop into all the "scene" parties and get free drinks and shitty food... I just started going by myself and buying the music wristband to get into shows I wanted to get into. If I spend $5 here and there for a beer I probably won't die. I'm looking forward to a few days again this March, there's always someone new to discover, I think the hardest part is just parsing through all the recommendations before the festival starts bc it can be overwhelming looking at the festival guide.
  5. Did he just get sonned by an 18 year old kid?
  6. I went to this at Stubb's on Friday and it was great. I didn't expect such a great live show w/ full band (I saw him last year for a DJ Set, never "live"). The show was about as great as I could have imagined. People were friendly with sharing the extracurriculars, and by the end of the night everybody was dancing (or at least swaying). The funniest thing about the show is that the friend I went with claimed Toro didn't play "his hits"....... while I thought he played every song that I really jam out to of his. Including his 2 hits from his latest album.
  7. I have an online Barclays account and it's the same regulations as my Wells Fargo Savings (tied to my checking), 6 transactions (withdrawals) per month max before fees hit. Only con is it takes 2-3 business days to get to me if I transfer to my checking.
  8. I thought it was a fun fight. Probably along the lines of 117-111 (if you take out the point deduction and knockdowns etc.). Keith looked really good. He's extremely technical and pretty quick. He'll give the top guys hell, that's for sure (Crawford/Spence). That 7th round was fun, I wasn't rooting for Lopez, but I kinda wanted to see the hilarity ensue if he ended it and won a belt. His punches were so slow but he was landing tons of them that round, he just didn't have enough in him to throw more.
  9. This would have been great time to put some distance between us and the Rockets/LAC too. But now they're 5-5 in the last 10 and so are we.
  10. No need when you have access to University systems. The hardest part was just remembering that Bru isn't his real name.
  11. Just gonna drop this little nugget in here: A student [redacted by FERPA] was admitted to the College of Liberal Arts (undeclared) on 1/24 by the Office of Admissions. He (or she) then had an advising bar cleared today. We'll just say I have access to "inside" information.
  12. That has zero to do with Bru and 100% to do with us. Let the photoshop commence. When it happens, of course. In that alternate universe. Because it's not happening until it is or isnt it is it not.
  13. He really has a great con going as a supposedly elite gate keeper. He tastes any power whatsoever and turtles up. He's not a bad counter puncher but still throws pussy ass arm punches like he's an amateur looking to score points. Wish pac would've finished him but oh well.
  14. Ha, I too have played a Spurs Legend's son in rec league basketball. David Robinson, Jr. is nowhere near the "honed" athlete his two brothers are though. Although he could bounce like his dad. Could jump all over the floor and even decent getting to the rim, but never ever wanted him to take a jump shot.
  15. Hook 'em, Shane. Always rooted for you to become more than what you did, but I don't completely blame you for not. You were a mid-4 star guy who should not have had to start as a true freshman, but you did and beat Notre Dame. Hang your hat on that. Should've had the benefit of a redshirt that a healthy program would've given him, should've had a decent QB to learn from that a healthy program would've given him (just think about the type of help he provides Sam, and ask who tf would have given him that his first two years?), should've had a better coach than Shawn fucking Watson to mold him. I think we'll be fine with Thompson as a backup and a true freshman as an emergency backup (where they should be). Rising is going to start somewhere, but so be it, this is the new era of transfer portals.
  16. I ejnoyed the fight. Was rooting for Uzcategui as the underdog, but Plant utilized his handspeed and movement very well in the first half of the fight. Likely he took all 6 first rounds. Figueroa looked good, much better than his older brother Omar. I've been a big Omar fan bc they're from the RGV, but as good as his record is Omar isn't going to go far with that style (no defense). Brandon looked to move around a bit more.
  17. People are starting to notice how tired he is (some Spurs twitter accounts/PtR guys). Get Rudy back, keep us long in the starting 5 and I think we'll be fine. I hated that loss to the Hornets, bc we're in a bit of a soft patch in the schedule right now, where I thought we'd really be able to make a move (LAC isn't playing well and HOU has a rougher patch coming with no Capela), but we were missing two key guys and DDR is getting tired. I'm confident Pop will cut DDR's minutes a bit with Rudy coming back. Let's get it rolling again and get down to 4/5 spot.
  18. I couldn't help but laugh at every clip they showed of McFarland and Ja Rule together getting interviewed. They ask Ja Rule anything about the festival and he just smiles and says some random general shit ("it's revolutionary" type shit) and hoped the CEO would take over. Won't spoil it yet but the last 15 minutes made me just as happy as when it was happening in real-time on twitter. Rich kids spending silly money to feed their egos and got Kraft Single sandwiches (not even cheddar)? Show me more, please.
  19. Seen that exact play earlier. But when the Rams need a 1st? McVay has something in his back pocket for our asses. Garrett is to busy clapping to even have a free hand to search his pockets.
  20. Huh? The Eagles went 13-3 behind a Top 5 YPG and PPG defense last year. They were also Top 5 in rushing yards/game and Scoring offense. I can't think of the last time we had a defense as good as we do right now, and that is evidenced by our playoff win. We're in the Elite 8, about where we should be by playing to our potential. I don't think we're statistically good enough to make it to the Super Bowl, but I've also seen our defense play to its 100% potential and beat the Saints, so I know that it can be down (however unlikely).
  21. Agreed. In those Tony Romo games we had above-average defenses that could play with a lead but if we had to stop any sort of decent offense in a shootout, good luck. Our defensive backs haven't inspired confidence in me in a damn decade, and I think I'm finally getting close. Saturday I thought that exact thing, for the first time in a long time I'm confident that our pass rush can get there and our DBs can make enough plays to stop a late charge if need be, we're finally "good" not just above average. Hopefully that doesn't come back to bite me in the ass this weekend.
  22. Will be glad to see Danny back tonight at least, looking forward to his ovation. Fuck Kawhi. Fuck 'em. But, I don't think DeMar will match-up well tonight, if he can give us solid numbers 15-20, with LMA and Derrick White staying hot, along with the role players hitting 3s, we can still take them.
  23. So great that he came from a P5 program, and a great school, but still seemed absolutely thrilled to be a Longhorn every time I saw clips of him. He deserved all the touches he got this year and I'm glad he gets to call himself a Longhorn for life now.
  24. I really enjoy that 3rd down confidence that I haven't felt since VY and Colt were with us. 3rd and 7? No fucking problem. 3rd and 10? I'm cool, Sam got it, just watch. What a comforting feeling to have a badass under center.
