  1. The industry that I am in it is pretty much standard worldwide to reverse park. I prefer reverse parking because of reasons previously stated. What does make it difficult is when I have identified a parking spot and have spotted up just beyond the parking place and someone comes along thinking that the space is open and then gets in my way as I am trying back up.
  2. A couple of weeks ago a lifelong buddy of mine mother passed away. She was in her early 80's. I went to her funeral along with a few other childhood buddies that I grew up playing baseball with. I had not seen many of them in years. I do not do Facebook so I do not keep up with pics of others. We took a group photo. That was the first time that we were all together since the mid-to-late 80's. Later one of the guys posted the photo on Facebook. A friend of mine showed me the post and all of the comments. Looking at the photo and the comments made me tear up. It was hard for me to believe that the guys that I was looking at were once pretty good athletes (we all had the opportunity to play baseball in college at various levels). We later got together again to go to lunch. A couple of the guys brought their dads with them. The same men that coached me in little league, etc. and that I have known my whole life. Again, the tears flowed as it was difficult to see these men walking with canes and/or being careful getting around and watching their now grown sons taking care of them. Gone are the days of them throwing BP or taking infield with us. It is one thing to see people every day and not recognize the aging process but to be separated from folks for a while and then seeing them, well, reality really sets in. I knew that I was "old" (almost 56) but the picture really drove the point home in a very visible way.
  3. Digging for Lithium. We all know that battery power will be the wave of the future. Never mind on how to generate the electricity to charge the battery. Doesn’t the switch on the wall provide electricity?
  4. Did not attend this year’s Plan II graduation but I was at the 2014 graduation for my daughter when McRaven spoke. His was a solid speech. A best ever for me.

    Western Novels

Louis L’Amour is the go to. I read my first LL book (The Man from Skibereen) when I was in the 6th grade. It has been probably close to 25 years since I last read one of his books. At one point I had all of his books in my collection. He is very descriptive with his locations and geography so there have been folks that have identified the actual settings of some of his books. The Sackett Series is a must.
  6. I need crib notes on hand signs.
  7. A tornado damaged one in 2017. The winter storm of 2021 collapsed one. A third one was puposely taken down in the fall of 2021.
  8. This a very old picture. There are only two domes now. The two that are in the top left of the photo.
  9. P&H bought LeTourneau. Komatsu, in turn, bought P&H. All occured within a 6 year period.
  10. I tried to do some hikiing up there in 2020. I ended up abandoning one of the hikes because the trails were overgrown and I was stopping every 100 feet or so picking dozens of ticks off of me.
  11. Iron ore, copper, gold, diamonds, coal, uranium, platinum, etc. Iron ore and copper are the top two right now.
  12. Honestly, having a gate, or even a fence, would not really matter!
  13. The rig that I am responsible for:
  14. When is his son eligble?
  15. He was so.......great.
  16. The whole skit is pretty funny. But the "hole" highlight is here.
  17. I have never watched Breaking Bad. (Ducks)
  18. I also took a picture of the Native American abandoned gas station in December of 2020.
  19. I have been to India numerous times. I refuse to drive over there as basic driving rules/understanding do not apply. I had a driver over there once that made me rather surly. I told him that if we were in a wreck that I was coming out of the car swinging and that the first person that I was going to hit was him. He got the message after a couple of firm swats on the shoulder and leg when he started doing stupid driving.
  20. I think I was in college before I ever said a curse word in front of my parents. They were/are rather strict.
  21. I was fairly fast as a youngster. Played centerfield and had the opportunity to play college baseball. The last time that I raced my son was when he was about this age. I was in my early 40’s. He smoked me. He ended up being a sprinter in high school running the 100, 200, and being the anchor leg on the sprint relays. I felt a lot better about my loss eventually.
  22. So, you are willing to have a 1 to 2 mph speed difference battle with the car you are “passing” thus holding up traffic for some indeterminate time?
  23. It is a dick move to keep driving in the LH lane. For them to hurry up and make their pass is not asking too much of them. It is not like asking them to drive super fast the whole time. Maybe a quarter of a mile just to get around the vehicle that they are plodding by. It is probably the same drivers that slowly pass an 18-wheeler as well. I notice that a lot of people actually drive slower next to an 18-wheeler and then speed up once they are around them. Hurry up and pass.
  24. When my daughter (no pics) was a young driver she was driving in the left hand lane without having to pass anyone. A State Trooper pulls up next to her and motions for her to get over into the RH lane. LH lane is for passing. She learned her lesson. She is the only female that I allow to drive me around when I go visit them out of town. Lead, follow, or get out of the way.
  25. I am taxiing to the gate in ATL. Lady behind me has her speakerphone on talking to some other lady. No one cares to hear your stupid conversation. Having to hear half of it is bad enough!
