  1. I have two books signed and personalized to me not by a "Pappy" but rather a "Peppy". None other than by R.E. "Peppy" Blount. A former Longhorn great among other things.
  2. Fantastic headgear! Are the liners still present? Did your father have a story associated with them? I remember that he served in the Aleutians and fought in the Bulge? Do you know the units he served in?
  3. This is an American saga and has nothing to do with the British.
  4. Yes, he (Dudley's) has curbside for call ahead orders with limited hours.
  5. Longview, TX area: From previous posts I support that: Jucy's is the go to for a burger. Bodacious on Mobberly is a must for brisket Country Tavern off of HWY 31 for ribs. T-Blancos on 322 out towards the airport for Mexican food. Pizza King on Marshall Ave. (HWY 80) for the best pizza. Additions to the list: Leon's Steakhouse Saloon for a fantastic steak and green beans. It is on S. Eastman Rd. just North of I-20. A straight up looking dive but great food and live music. Duke's Fish Shack for great catfish. It is basically next door to T-Blancos. Again, it is a not an attractive place but it has great food. Closures: Dudley's in Longview is no longer open though I think he still does a bit of catering. Neely's in Marshall closed about a year ago after 90+ years in business. Other: Nanny Goats is good but it is not my crowd.
  6. Just how far can you go on a little bacon and a little beans?
  7. What will 6666 be about exactly? Jimmy stated that he does not like the fighting and such at the Yellowstone and that all he wants to do is to cowboy. With him being the apparent lead character on the alluded to 6666 show, will it be some type of reality/docu-series?
  8. This right here. I made this comment the other night while watching the show. That is a testament of just how much drama is going on at the Yellowstone to do any real cowboying. Had to leave Wyoming to go to Texas to become a real cowboy.
  9. In the last pic here they look they are having a bit of a nice rear “interaction”.
  10. 9 and 27 for OU have both mastered the art of holding.
  11. Plan "A" was to be a professional baseball player. Plan "B" was to be an architect. Plan "C" was to be an archeologist. I was offered some scholarships to play ball in college but none of the programs that offered me scholarships to play ball had architecture as a major. Plus, there was a "girlfriend" involved at the time so I gave up baseball and went to architecture school at UT. Upon graduation I worked for a small firm in east Texas for about 4 months. They went belly-up and let everyone go after not getting some of the jobs that they were banking on. Fortunately for me I had worked for a civil engineering firm for 5 summers doing some design work for them so I had gained a bit of "engineering" background. A local mining equipment manufacturing company was ramping up their engineering staff so I applied and was hired. This was in 1989. I am still with the company even though we are now on our third owner. I spent about 15 years in engineering being responsible for all hydraulic and pneumatic systems on the mobile mining equipment. For the last 15 plus years I have been on the commercial side being heavily involved in product management, sales/marketing and applications. The job has provided a very comfortable living plus it has allowed me to travel to most States and over 30 different countries. About a year into the job the architectural firm called me and wanted to know if I wanted to come back. No thanks and no regrets. It did, however, take about a year before I would even talk about or watch a baseball game once I hung up the cleats.
  12. I was in Tucson all week last week and it was cooler there than it was back home in northeast Texas.
  13. Love me some Sanford and Son. Watched it as a kid growing up and still catch the occasional episode today. Funny is funny.
  14. I enjoyed the first episode, and like Yellowstone, I am thru to the end now even if the writing goes awry. One immediate question though. Why are two "Pinkerton" men leading a wagon train? That is not part of their charter.
  15. My kids (now adults) have common sense. They understood what I was implying.
  16. Yep, the Fonz lining up the ramp to jump the shark. Hope it steers back on course.
  17. When you are at a public toilet and you line the toilet ring with toilet paper or the pre-made sheet and the auto flush feature comes on and sucks the barrier away before you have a chance to sit down.
  18. I have impressed with my kids that it is better to be an hour early than a minute late. Tardiness is a huge no no for me.
  19. For some reason I never watched it when it first aired either. Started watching it a couple of months ago as time allows. Almost finished with season 1. In one episode you can clearly see the word “Phlugerville” on Dillon’s stadium. I really enjoy the series and I have to remember to not be too critical of the football aspects of it and the time that the “students” have and what they do away from school. You know, cause Hollywood and such.
  20. Just dropped my son from my auto insurance as he is picking his up with a new truck. I Went from having 2 fully covered trucks to just one. My rates went up because of just one vehicle now. WTH? Going to have to dig into this as it is unacceptable.
  21. Lloyd picked Walker up after the fight and appeared to give him a pat on the back. Could they be “all good” now?
  22. Did we see a soft side from Rip? Think that he knows the next time he intervenes ol Loyd is a goner.
  23. While I love his enthusiasm and able to share the moment with his dad, he does look a bit like Ben Stiller in Dodgeball.
  24. I have been doing a bit of flying on Delta Airlines recently. They have The Band of Brothers featured on their inflight entertainment. I have been watching one or two episodes each flight. Been getting dusty on each flight too. The mask helps to hide the tears.
