  1. Perhaps your grandfather served with the Medical Officer that wore this uniform. He made it overseas in July 1944 and received a campaign star for Central Europe. He served in the Medical Detachment, 66th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Division.
  2. Depends on the height of the cubicles. The ones in our new complex will be about 4' high.
  3. But, but, but, they "promote" communication and collaboration!!!!!! (as everyone wears headphones for privacy and/or locks themselves into the "buzzword" meeting spaces alone). There are going to be a lot of empty spaces in the new building since moving forward many people will opt to work from home.
  4. In 2019 I spent 100 days on the road (domestically and internationally) mostly in front of customers and prospects. I really miss that aspect of my job. I have not been on a plane since March 5, 2020. All of my customer interface has been through Teams. I did make one driving trip to visit a mine just outside of Mesa, AZ late last summer. I have been working from home since March 2020. I have no intentions on going back to the office on a permanent basis. One of the major reasons is that we are building a new office complex that will predominately feature cubicles and doing away with offices. I have had a office with a door for 30 years! Few are happy about the new building.
  5. Some random pics of some people that I have seen in my travels. I wish that I had a sharper pic of these three guys in Ajmer, India. Taken with a iPhone from inside the car. Wi This group was riding on a flat bed trailer behind a semi going down the highway in northern India. Hitching a ride to Barranquilla, Colombia Solwezi, Zambia "Hollywood" in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia Macha Pichu locals Young fishermen in Casablanca Zourat, Mauritania International Airport
  6. I will stick with my Chevy Silverado 4WD
  7. I haz the confused? Where is the match?
  8. This is my biggest parking pet peeve as this is absolutely intentional.
  9. I know what it means. Keeping it to myself to remain immortal.
  10. We had a smoking area at my high school for students. Unfortunately it was where the buses dropped students off. As a freshman I rode the bus to school and had to walk the gauntlet of smokers to get into the school. Nothing like a lot of smoke inhalation early in the morning!
  11. Go to Zambia and you will experience a total lack of wildlife hardly even any birds either as they have all been killed off by the locals.
  12. Google elephant attacks in India in the Bankura area. There have been several.
  13. Sorry, but it is real. English newspapers exist in India.
  14. A few years ago I was in India on business visiting a mine site in a remote area. I took a late flight on a Thursday night from Mumbai to Kokatta arriving late at night. The next morning we took a several hour drive from Kolkatta to the mine offices for the meeting. As we get to the reception area we asked to see Mr. XXX. Receptionist: He is not here. Us: How is he not here? He knew that we were coming from a great distance away for this meeting. Receptionist: He is at the hospital. Us: OMG. Is he OK? Receptionist: He is fine. His sister is in the hospital. Us: Oh, OK. What happened? Receptionist: She was attacked by a wild elephant in the village last night. Me: For real? (incredulous that such things actually happen) Receptionist: Yes, here is a report of it in the newspaper. Me: May I make of copy of this? Me (to myself): No one is going to believe that I had a meeting canceled due to a rogue elephant attack. The news report is below (interesting wording and grammar): We ate lunch. Got back in the car and drove back to Kolkatta. Took a late flight back to Mumbai.
  15. Pics I took in Pilansburg Park in South Africa in February 2020.
  16. The Old Man and the Sea with Spencer Tracy. First time to watch and I have never read the book either. Clueless going into the movie. Am I supposed to enjoy the film?
  17. Travel within the Yellowstone and GTNP can be dicey that time of year so you will need to take into consideration road closures. I also believe that there are already some road closures within Yellowstone due to construction. My girlfriend and I went to Yellowstone and GTNP the latter part of October 2020. We drove up from east Texas since we both enjoy driving/riding and seeing the countryside along the way. We entered the park in the Northeast Entrance and stayed at Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel (no TV's) for several days while we explored the upper central and northern part of the park hitting the usual sites. We then transitioned to Jackson and stayed at the Rustic Inn Creekside Cabins on the north side of town. They are really nice with fire pits around the property and teepees for the kids to play in. Moving to this location allowed us to explore the southern part of Yellowstone and the GNP with ease. We did more hiking in GTNP than in Yellowstone. For me, Yellowstone has more "site seeing" stops that you get out and walk around and explore whereas GTNP requires getting out and doing some hikes around the lakes, etc. There are hikes in both parks that are suitable. Just carry bear spray. We were there between the "prime seasons" so the lodging rates were lower. Plus the crowds were not so big either. Downside of going out-of-season, coupled with Covid, is that some amenities are closed. Food service in the parks is limited. There are several nice restaurants in Jackson so there are no issues in finding food for the evening. For food going into the parks we stopped at the Creekside Market and Deli each morning to pick up sandwiches for lunch. They are fantastic. Keep checking local conditions for that time of year to help plan on how to visit all of the parks.
  18. I agree with this statement 100%. Though I do not hunt, I am not against hunting. I have just never seen the point except for shootings hogs.
  19. I am at the age (almost 55) where I have to start determining the fine line of staying active and over doing it. It doesn’t take much to irritate something so yes, I have almost “chronic aches” but I can usually attribute it to something. I know my body well enough to know if something just hurts or there is an injury. I have always been super active (mainly through physical sports) so turning it down a bit is trial and error.
  20. I find it irritating when a LEO drives below the speed limit in the left hand lane and cars are afraid to drive the speed limit in the right hand lane and not pass them therefore causing traffic to back up behind both of them.
  21. Yes, I know. What can I say? Better late than never!
  22. My Cousin Vinny and The Lincoln Lawyer. First time for both. Enjoyed both of them too.
  23. Similar situations in the past for me. The ex was a school teacher. A common occurrence that was pointless to argue: Ex: Will you take off tomorrow and do XYZ? Me: Sure. Ex: Thanks. It is so much easier for you to take off instead of me. Me: How so? Ex: Well, I have to instruct my substitute to take care of my students in my absence so that the work can still get done. Me: Oh, ok. Me (to myself): Who does my work for the day? I have no substitute. What does not get done in my absence only compounds itself.
