  1. I think Bond will still get drafted fairly high. Maybe not first round now, but still high. The Bolden one I think is really hurting us more. There's no sure fire way to tank your draft stock than to transfer somewhere and rarely play. We have a lot more competition at WR coming back than last season, and Sark has the reputation of only going mainly with 3 or 4 at most guys in his main rotation. It's just the way it is this season, but I still think they'll either get one later in portal season or up the offer to get someone like Golden to return if his draft grade after the season isn't as high as he's expecting. We'll be fine at WR in the end, but because we have so much returning and coming in he's apparently not going to spend over a million for someone like Singleton.
  2. I had a feeling it might be more difficult than we thought to sway a portal WR because of how Bond's and Bolden's production dropped off a cliff this year. Bolden more by way of competition and Bond's by way of Quinn not being able to accurately throw deep balls consistently. Then they see we have a freak in Wingo returning for 2 more years, a productive RS freshman in Moore, and just signed 2 5 stars and a really high 4 star out of HS. Not going to be an easy sell this year as it was last year when all production was leaving and all 3 got drafted. Same thing goes for RB. The better portal backs are leaving to be the main back somewhere. They look at us and see Wisner is coming back, Baxter is expected back, have no idea yet if they will have to compete with Blue, and see 2 high 4 star high school backs coming in. Too much competition to get someone that isn't more of a one trick pony without way overpaying. DT and maybe TE is where we should be able to look really attractive to high end portal guys this year.
  3. And they play in a half empty stadium. Nobody there gives a shit about them except a few really rich dudes. I don't believe their coach hosts any recruits for games.
  4. I used to wonder how people who don't like how things are going for them enough to commit atrocities don't realize this, but then the 2024 election happened and I realized Americans are dumber than chimps.
  5. That may have been the case, but you're good enough to be on the field and get your overrated G5 level ass kicked by us.
  6. For the 2 teams in the CFB title game yes. For everyone else it shouldn't be, especially if you already know where you're going and signed with them before finishing out your season. I guess the ones in the championship game would have to just enroll before the add/drop cutoff date.
  7. NCAA needs to add a special type of NLI or whatever to allow players to go in the portal, sign with a team, yet still finish out their postseason run with their current team if the coaching staff wants them to do so. It's ridiculous to have to choose to leave a playoff team just to get a jump on finding a new team.
  8. You didn't notice the dripping sarcasm? There's always risk, but Brooks seems like more of an outlier there. I can definitely see them taking a back, but it's going to be a hard sell for a guy who is number 1 back quality. I bet they count on Gibson developing over the off-season and being the big back backup even if they take a big back in the portal.
  9. What would the recruiting pitch be? Come here and battle for snaps with our current starter that's having a great back half of the season and our former starter returning from knee surgery who was the #1 back in the country in the 2023 class? They aren't paying the money for a #1 running back because they don't need that, if one would even agree to come here with the competition in the room. I'd be surprised if they take any RBs unless Blue leaves.
  10. CJ and Gerry asked about this secret visitor. Said they don't believe there was any secret visitor and questioned how that would be secret for portal. The coaches may want it secret but it's in the player's best interest for it to not be secret so they can potentially get a bidding war between multiple teams. Color me shocked it was bullshit
  11. He's gone. He's getting a first round or at worst 2nd round grade. His measurables are exactly what the NFL looks for. They don't care about the penalties at this stage because he's raw with only this year of starting experience. He's a lot like Tyler Smith who the Cowboys took out of Tulsa. Raw but with the physical tools, and was the most penalized lineman in the country his last year in college. He's been one of the better guards in the NFL the last couple of seasons. I'm not sure how much more of a ceiling he has. It might not make sense from a development standpoint for him to return. But it could make sense from a financial standpoint if he can get more out of NIL here that he'd get with a back of the draft/UDFA draft grade. All depends on what that draft grade is.
  12. They create functional bonfires at Purdue?
  13. Where did the idea of a secret visitor come from? I looked and didn't notice Gerry, CJ, or the IT goobers mention a secret visitor.
  14. Absolutely have to get at least 2 more DTs
  15. How do you pronounce this guy's name? Bow Meester Boo Meester Bow Mister Boo Mister
  16. Don't cancel it, just amend your menu to be much more "presidential"
  17. Tennessee is a good example. Their SOS was 49. Their non con was pure garbage. Chattanooga, NC St, Kent St, and UTEP. They lose 2 conference games and made the playoffs. Our brand is big enough and our conference the most difficult top to bottom in the country. We didn't need the extra tough win. Someone like SMU is who should have needed it with such a bad SOS, but even they didn't need it. It's just an unnecessary risk to get one of the 2 losses you can afford to take in September. Next season if we don't walk into Columbus, with a green QB who only has a few starts, and beat that team, we then can only afford 1 loss during the entire SEC schedule. We'll have to run it like we did this year. Could afford 2 if we had New Mexico or Alabama St scheduled instead.
  18. Babers made a point that he has very good ball skills but he has terrible return skills. He's just not good with the ball in his hands after the interception. That should have been an easy pick 6 if he immediately saw the freeway wide opening and just took off. The tight end wasn't going to run him down from behind. Instead he hesitated looking around and allowed the guy to get in position. Didn't help Guilbeau just started celebrating instead of looking to block.
  19. It has nothing to do with Alabama itself. If has to do with the committee's choices telling us what they value. Alabama's SOS was in the top 10. South Carolina's in the top 20, and Mississippi around 30. SMU was down around 60s to 70. Our schedule will be rough enough with the SEC conference play where we don't need an extra difficult game added. We need the extra guaranteed banked win. That still gives us most years 2 conference games we can slip up, the exact same number of games as it would be if we play one difficult OOC matchup. We just risk that matchup being 1 of the 2 we can afford to lose. I don't care about September. I want to see big matchups in December and January.
  20. How many copy cats are out there planning after the insurance CEO got whacked and an entire country, regardless of political affiliation, celebrated the murder? Is Elon a target of one/some of them? Is he protected 24/7/365? The country wide response to that killing is chilling and at the same time interesting. My daughter asked me about it after she heard kids at school celebrating it. HS kids aren't paying that close of attention, they heard that from their parents.
  21. We absolutely need to stop scheduling the difficult non conference games, and save one of the cupcakes for November. Committee this year proved record is more important than SOS with that SMU over Alabama, SC, and Miss pick. We'll get those marquee big time matchups back at the end of the season in the playoffs in a lot of years.
