  1. That was for the season, but Quinn only played what? 2 1/2 games before injury? Best chance of winning out is Quinn returning to pre-injury 2024 Quinn. No one here knows if that is possible. This is his last chance earning this golden UT QB NIL though to get it done. If he flounders the rest of the season and doesn't like his draft grade he's gotta transfer. With Arch it's a complete unknown. Can he navigate Vanderbilt, Arkansas on the road, Kentucky, aggy on the road? How much can he improve from today to the playoffs? It's all still up in the air no matter which way Sark goes, but I gotta believe he gives Quinn every chance to get right this week. Also, only Sark and Quinn know how hurt Quinn really still was the last 2 games. We have no idea.
  2. He's played well against defenses that disguise well before. It isn't that he doesn't know what he's looking at. It's he wasn't able or willing to push himself to stay in the pocket and make plays even if it means getting hit. That led to bailouts and bad mechanics and poorly thrown passes. Nobody left on the schedule or in the country has a defensive front as talented and fast as Georgia's. They don't always play like it because that's a program in decline with major discipline issues, but they're the most talented front in the country and the few times they get motivated they play way above their tape. Nobody else is doing that to our offensive line and QB. Hell, now that we've seen it, I don't think they could do it again like that to us either. The only thing that matters is getting Ewers right. Whatever that means and whatever it takes. The rest of the team will take care of business.
  3. I bet he tucked his hair under his hat and went in to ask him why
  4. He admitted he abandoned script when it wasn't working early. We ran the ball a bit better in the 2nd half, but difficult to run when you're down 23-0 and that Oline wasn't capable of running on that front in the first half. They were getting physically stood up. I want to know how Quinn has looked in all the practices since the week after the Miss St game. Was he able to torque and throw it well in practice and looked good then reverted in game? Or was he struggling physically in practice but they thought they could shoot it up on game day? Sark can't afford losing a second game because of a gun shy QB, and Vanderbilt on the road is capable of beating us if we let them hang around and get short fields. I don't blame him for sticking with Quinn if Quinn is physically able to get it done in practice, but if he shows he can't do it to start a 3rd straight game how can you stick with it and watch another loss?
  5. After watching all the offensive plays over again the O line was below standard but not awful. Quinn self sacked and self pressured multiple times in the game by not working well in the pocket and having poor mechanics (at least somewhat due to injury issues). The o line got their shit together late in the second quarter and did much better in the second half.
  6. Then we can kiss the season goodbye if he's not able to play the position at the necessary level. I think you're wrong. I think Sark sees this again in the first quarter this weekend and he makes the switch. Too many guys putting their ass on the line every day in that locker room to allow a gun shy QB to tank their season. Let's all hope he gets his head right and is physically able to do it.
  7. It's the dumbest thing ever, and was posted as a joke or by accident while trying to create a joke. How does a QB prepare for the NFL draft? By getting his ass off the mat, finishing the rest of the schedule undefeated, then winning a NC. I do fear his history of injuries has him gunshy now. Recovering from serious injuries sucks, and he's been doing it every year he's played for the last 5 years. The QB has to be willing to step up in the pocket, deliver a ball accurately, and take a shot to the chops. If all the injuries has him in a spot he can't do that anymore, while understandable, means he needs to retire from football. Invest what he has left of the NIL and get his UT degree like the rest of us. Sark needs to have that talk with him. We can't afford another loss. He has to show he's able and willing to get the mechanics right and take a shot if needed. No more bailing out on throws, no more back foot nonsense, no more squaring up and not torquing the core resulting in weak pure arm throws. He has the first quarter Saturday to start showing something. Another first quarter like the last 2 and he's sitting. This week the guy on the other side is willing to take those shots and do whatever it takes to win. Even against an Alabama defense.
  8. Did you not watch the secondary play last year? They couldn't cover anyone. It was a miracle we made it to the playoff game with that bad of a secondary. I'm not saying he's not injury prone, I'm saying the difference between his play the first 4 games and the last 2 weeks is he's still injured. He shouldn't have played the last 2 games. Even if Arch lost to Georgia anyway, Quinn could be closer to 100 percent and not have this terrible tape if Sark didn't rush to get him back out there when he's obviously not able to torque his torso to deliver a proper ball. He shouldn't be playing until he can properly throw the ball. That's on Sark.
  9. I mean, the country already looks at the state of Texas as a bunch of gun loving, lunatic, arrogant fascist assholes anyway. Don't think for a second our university or state is well thought of outside the scientific communities' regard for several of our research departments. That shit doesn't matter in 2024.
  10. Went back and watched every Ewers throw in regular speed and slowed down, and I'm certain now he doesn't have the yips or some mental issue. That's a guy who isn't healthy. On all of his throws he's afraid or unable to torque the torso. When you watch closely you can see him square up so he doesn't have to torque, then he throws with his arm. That's why his throws the last two weeks look weak and floaty. He's not doing a proper plant and torque motion to get the ball out with force. He's clearly not able to throw the ball properly. That makes sense as QBs don't just regress from what he showed the first few weeks to this for no reason. This is a physical issue, and now the question I have is why did Sark play him. After he looked like that against OU, and clearly can't torque properly to throw, why did he play against Georgia? I'd even question why he played against OU if he wasn't showing the ability to throw with proper mechanics the two weeks prior. He should have been recovering and Arch should have kept playing. I can only think that Sark, being a former QB himself, wants to do anything other than potentially detail his QB's career. And I respect that, but when the guy is showing he can't throw he can't be playing in games.
  11. Of course this doesn't kill our recruiting, but it was a wasted opportunity to launch an avalanche of momentum in recruiting. And it was all on the OL and Ewers.
  12. This is the only game that's happened all year. And it's because the QB was poor and the game plan for said QB was predictable.
  13. He shouldn't have been playing last weekend or this weekend if that's the case. QB play cost us this win. The line struggled, but plays were there to be made that didn't get made. Great QBs in big games against other top teams know their line isn't going to dominate. You have to step up and make plays even when you aren't given ideal situations. That's the difference in the NFL between Dak and Mahomes. Ewers is looking way too much like Dak.
  14. I do wonder if it's still the injury. We found out for sure whatever was wrong with him in the Cotton bowl wasn't rust. It's either injury is worse than we know or he's not mentally right to be a championship winning QB at the moment for whatever reason. I also wonder if it is injury and Arch got the OU start and got all the prep for this one is the outcome different? Arch had no chance in only 2 possessions coming in cold off the bench without having played in 3 weeks. Sark has his work cut out for him this week. This defense is champion level. Georgia doesn't sniff 30 pts without Ewers, the shitty backup punter, and the OL gifting them the ball on our end or midfield all day. Georgia only had 2 drives for points that went longer than 30 yds all game. That's it.
  15. The only thing getting fired is Ole Smokey. We won't drop past 4 to 5, we found our defense is legit, and we have a ton of questions marks on offense. Now with the playoff format we're right in the thick of the race to the SEC title game and playoff spot. No SEC team is undefeated and we have a good path to finishing the regular season with 1 loss. Have to figure out Quinn. Is this injury? Or a QB version of the yips? Can he right himself or do we need to go to Arch? This is not going to be an easy week for Sark.
  16. This thread = retards
  17. Georgia has been a jeckyl and Hyde team this year. Wouldn't surprise me if this is 23-7 quickly then 23-14.
  18. I'm at least encouraged our defense is legit. That many short field shots at them by one of the best offenses in the country and only 23 pts given up is insane. Sark panicking and this offensive line getting destroyed is not encouraging. Every one of these fucks except Banks and Majors needs to return next season. They aren't ready.
  19. There's nothing that can be done. Georgia is just as talented as we are and they came in desperate. We did not expect this level from them. The backup punter sucking has just made it worse. I don't know what to do to stop this. Our guys are getting beat to a man across the board on offense.
  20. Not much open. Sark has been schemed to call the game right into what the defense is doing. Add that to our OL getting worked a bit and it's a disaster. Ewers looks jumpy again but everywhere he looks the defense has the play scouted and is waiting on it.
  21. Well so much for the biggest recruiting weekend in over a decade. Sark's offense getting pantsed by Kirby. He's scouted way too well and their defense is keyed in.
