  1. Cripes, you are becoming insufferable. You have a good foundation of college football history, but you are not looking at the whole picture. It's a business. It's been pointed out countless times in public articles for years, and posted by knowledgeable folks on here and other forums that research dollars associated with conference affiliation dwarf tv rights. The bottom half of the B1G probably generates a shit-ton more dollars for tOSU (not in the upper half academically) than the other way around. No way USC and UCLA made such a drastic move over $40M annual increase in TV revenues. Huge reason would be the research dollars they could share in that the SEC cannot even come close to.
  2. You've always been an angry drunk, Steve.
  3. This is a clown take (and didn't you already post it). B1G isn't purging anyone, much less three of its founding members or another that's been a member for 123 years.
  4. Went to DL yesterday with family. Although the park did not seem overly crowded, the ride wait times were atrocious. Even mediocre rides were an hour or more wait. Kids and wife wanted to go on Splash Mtn, so while they waited in that 80 minute line, I mosied on over to Rise of the Resistance. Figured I'd take that punishing two hour wait so we'd be close by the time they were done with Splash. Got there and it was down, and they weren't letting people get in line. Figured I'd just wait. About a half-hour later it was back up and a crowd rush to the entrance. By fortune I had planted myself by the chosen cattle chute and was near the front. Within minutes I was in the cave and the line was moving worryingly fast. Got probalby 3/4s of the way there when the 1 pm of passholders arrived, and line slowed to a crawl. Kids and wife eventually got to me and as we were literally steps away from getting on, the ride broke down again. So, thought I was going to be the hero, but we ended up waiting another 40 minutes anyway. As an aside, that ride sure does break down a lot. At least one-third of the times we've been in line it was gone down. But it is amazing. There was a young couple in front of us, first timers. The look on their faces was priceless.

Rewatching Season 2. Thought Pablo Schreiber, who played Nick, was amazing. Surprised he didn't become a bigger star. Didn't know he is Liev Schreber's half-brother.

So, my nephew flies the F22 Raptor...nothing more to add, just wanted to get that brag out there.

CSB: I saw Risky Business at the theater first release, stoned as hell. High school sex movies were abundant in those days, but this one was different. I knew Cruise was going to be a star (not to this level or duration though). Loving Top Gun II made be go down the rabbit hole of Cruise's recent work. I had no idea the level of stunts the dude was going in MI episodes. Background videos show he is all about entertaining the audience. That's refreshing in this world. Supposedly, he insisted on limited CGI on Top Gun II, and wouldn't do it without Kilmer. Not sure if true, but hope so. Also, the producer of Top Gun said he had 30 minutes to pitch a reluctant Cruise on the sequel, but when he sold him, Cruise immediately picked up the phone, and told (not asked) the head of Paramount that they were doing a sequel. Power. Lastly, as someone alluded, the studio doing MI sequels 6 and 7 (or 7 and 8 ) must be creaming their shorts with these opening numbers.
  10. I had tears when he pulled out the Members Only jacket.
  11. Amazing episode. Sink (who I liked immensely up to that point) callously disregarding the lives of his men in order to score bragging points with another successful patrol, and Winters, absolutely disgusted by the whole thing. Weber being treated like a piece of shit because he missed Bastogne, and as mentioned earlier, the change in Malarkey.

    Getting old sucks

Saw Top Gun Maverick today for second time with family (all of us obviously loved it). I'm about Cruise's age, and have been looking forward to this nostalgic event as a reminder of the simpler times of the '80s, and being young, strong and healthy. There's a scene early in the movie where Cruise surreptitiously observes the young, hotshot pilots interacting at a bar. The juxtaposition of Cruise today vs. the young Cruise of memory and these young pilots hit me square in the face that our time is past, and we really are the down slope of life. Hit me pretty damn hard.

    Wow. You guys are cool.
  14. Used to drive down 76 to the 15 for years when SIL lived in Murrieta. Wasn't aware of this place, however maybe a quarter mile away, in the parking lot of the gas station near the interstate exit was a literal kiosk selling burgers for years. Every time we passed it was packed with customers. Never got a chance to try it cause we were always heading to a family meal event. Saw it no longer exists unfortunately.
  15. One of the most entertaining elements of BCS is the depiction of years of blood, sweat and tears that Mike and especially Gus and his partners at Madrigal put into making that underground lab a reality. And Walt burned the whole fucking thing to the ground within a couple of months of being hired, lol. Puts Mike's evisceration of Walt in BB that sets Walt into a murderous rage into perspective.
  16. So, Westhead's ego likely robbed us of another (and the first) Magic Bird Final. Seems like that one would have been epic, too.
  17. Agree, cute pics. Family has an annual pass at Disneyland and we've must have been close to 20 times the past few months. I have never experienced a crowd remotely as sparse as reflected in those pics. All of those areas would be wall to wall people. Hell, if the crowd was like that I'd actually enjoy going. Good on ya, hope the rest of the trip is the same!
  18. Son's confirmation is coming up. Couple months back wife asks if we can join the family of his best buddy (who live in the same city as us) in a celebratory dinner at Benihanas (picked by mother of his best friend) after the event. "I guess, whatever." Generally, the events I've agreed to for the wife don't start become real in my head until the event nears. Confirmation is this Wednesday, so I ask, "where is there a Benihanas near here anyway". "Oh, it's in Irvine" Thirty fucking miles away. To go to Benihanas.
  19. while saying whoever voted those other two out of being subconsciously racist.
  20. This show has plain sucked the last several episodes. And as an ex-smoker, hearing that satisfying burn when Buss takes a deep hit is killing me.
  21. So, not to spoil it, but does the Kim question get resolved here?
  22. great example of why one should read through rest of thread before responding to something. Others communicated my annoyances much better
  23. Actually, they took a lot of liberties with the record. Westhead was 50-18 with the Lakers that year. There was one 3 game losing streak in late November, road games against then elite teams. Rest of the season there were only two instances of even a two game losing streak. That bs drama of losing horribly to the worst teams in the league was just stupid. I've enjoyed the series a lot, mostly for the Jerry Buss financial drama, but if this is how they took liberties on the publicly available bball side, I can't imagine how far they went on the private side.
