  1. I know the name, but don't know much about her besides trying to take credit for the Simpsons. Looking at her IMDB, I think the most notable thing she's done that I remember,u was playing the ugly girl in Robin Hood Men in Tights. Very talented comedian, had her own TV show for a few years (can't believe how long ago that was after looking it up). You can see her talent in her perfectly understated performance as Irma. I'd guess that most actresses would have played that role over the top, but she elicits disgust with just small gestures and comments. Her scenes with Larry seem effortless for both.
  2. Like long Cardinal fan. Sandberg game refers to a June game between the Cubs and Cards that happened to be the Saturday Game of the Week (back when that was a big deal). It was an amazing, high-scoring game. Willie McGee hit for the cycle, something that's only happened around 300 times in MLB history, and his performance was an afterthought. After a back and forth game, Bruce Sutter, who then was still pretty much unhittable, was brought into the 9th with a two run lead. Sandberg hit a two-out two-run homer off him. Tenth inning the Cards take a one-run lead. Two outs and Sandberg homers again off Sutter! Unheard of. Cubs ended up finishing the game and crushing the Cards season. I remember working at a restaurant getting ready to open and suffering through the ups and downs of that game. Lot of Cubs fans worked at that restaurant.
  3. You know pouring those glasses was absolutely killing him. And to see not all the glasses drained at end of night...what a waste!
  4. Got my Moderna booster last Wednesday afternoon. Woke up 4 am Thursday with muscle aches, fever and chills. Went and sat shivering at computer with thick robe, heavy blanket and ballcap. That was the last time I slept until Friday afternoon. It was pretty miserable but fine now and glad I got it over with.
  5. Cotdamn, Shiv is one cold cunt. She's her father's daughter
  6. I'll call it. Show sucks this season. Everyone is phoning it in
  7. Just want to say, this show is so fucking good!
  8. Tom's from Minnesota and he didn't come from money.
  9. Tell me you're a reformed smoker without telling me.
  10. Have gotten woefully out of shape that past few years. For years, used to belong to a Fitness 19 about a mile from the house: very simple, very cheap, cardio, weights, machines, that's it, not even a shower. Perfect. Asked my wife to get me a membership for my birthday. She comes back with a quote for a $430 annual fee. Whoa, whoa, whoa, WTF! I check online. There's the basic option that I want: no enrollment fee, $13/month. I call them today and confirm that there a no bullshit strings attached. Will come in tomorrow with a check. Tonight wife comes home with signed Premier annual membership for $350 (I guess she negotiated them down?) Good news is I can work out at any Fitness 19 in the US. Awesome
  11. Watched it yesterday without reading this thread of any reviews, and came away...unfulfilled...and confused. Why the focus on Dickie Moltisanti? His story was on the periphery of the Sopranos, and even if you take it at face value that he was Tony's mentor, there was never any real mentor/apprentice scenes with the two in the movie. He scolded Tony for school issues and told him to accept the stolen speakers. Not exactly deep stuff. When Tony spoke of Dickie in Sopranos he described him as the baddest enforcer in Jersey, eventually killed by one of his many enemies. We see him kill his father and gumba, and then wrestle with the guilt. And then killed by Junior for an insignificant slight. Stupid. The large side story of the black dude was meaningless and advanced the story in no way. There were a lot of incongruities with the series (ages and what not already mentioned in this thread) and Tony was a puss. There was nothing in that performance that portended the murderous psychopath that Tony would become in the series. Finally, there was no point to the story. As someone mentioned I kept waiting for the payoff and the realized we weren't going to get one. There was no point to this movie.
  12. No, over the entire season. Dusty rode him that season like Butch and Sundance did that poor horse.
  13. Dusty ruined the great Mark Prior's career by overusing him in 2003. The kid is 24, they want to protect him for the long haul.
  14. Awful way to end a taut series between two great teams. Fucking umps
  15. This game is fucking awesome. Been intense as hell, and now Scherzer coming in to try to close. Awesome!
  16. Cot damn, I wanted to take issue with your dismissal of the greatest generation, but damn that was overall an on-point schpiel
  17. Not defending Gruden in any way, but I am happy to see the owner snipe at the NFL, saying "ask them, they have all the answers". And Carr calling for all NFL correspondence to be made public. Although, that'll never happen hopefully there will be enough push to get the WFT emails made public. This was an obvious hit job by a horrible organization. I hope it comes back to bite them in the ass.
  18. More of a vent, because similar exchanges happen far too often, but... (preface, son goes to HS 10 miles away on the way to wife's work, starts 30 minutes later than daughter, whose school is 1 mile away): Me: "I have a very important 8 am call tomorrow" Wife: (with severe tone) "So, I'm dropping both kids off tomorrow?!?" Me: "No, I can drop off May and be back in time" Wife: "No, I like dropping her off so I can see what's going on at school (i.e. gossip with the other mothers)" Me: WTF did you cop a tone if that's what you wanted all along?! Wife: (seemingly dumbfounded tone) "I was just asking?!" Cripes
  19. Ha, this is so true. At a certain point you just forget about the weather. I didn't travel enough for work to be a seasoned pro, so on the occasional trips I'd make, I'd be packing and realize, "holy shit, I'm going to Philadelphia in January and I don't even have an overcoat". I'd love to cash out house and move somewhere less California, but the problem always comes down to the weather.
  20. That old man looked just like Billy Crystal, especially towards the beginning when he was smiling all the time.
  21. Not my wife, but mother in charge of bringing snacks and drinks today for 6th grade girls vball team showed up with lunch bags filled with gummy bears, chips, snack bars, caramel packs and a couple other items I forget. Brought a 54 quart cooler filled near to the brim with ice for 20 ten ounce gatorade bottles and an hour long game, lol. She had to lug that stuff across a large parking lot and up a flight of stairs to get to the court. This was only game 2. We'll see if the other mothers took note and step up to the challenge.
