  1. Correct. Here’s how the math works for Trump. Qatar gives US (him) a $400M plane for “free.” It will take a billion dollars to take it apart and put it back together again. This will not happen soon enough to ever serve as AF1. Trump knows this. It will go thru the process anyway, at taxpayer expense, and be given to Trump’s presidential library upon him leaving office. Therefore he will wind up an AF1-quality personal private jet that the taxpayer’s will have paid for upon him leaving office (if he leaves office). That math maths perfectly for the Head Grifter in Charge.
  2. I ripped him pretty good after his first playoffs. I thought he was too soft to score in the playoffs when the checking gets tougher and the goals get greasier. Then he went and averaged nearly a point per playoff game the last two and I wondered if I was maybe wrong. This year has been a sluggish start — and I know he’s coming off an injury to start playoffs. Robo had a nice chance in Game 4 and made a phenomenal defensive play on a stick poke at the net that almost certainly saved a goal. I’m not as worried about his lack of production yet because we traded for that alpha dog scorer in Rantanen and he’s delivering. But it would make things much better if he’d be able to chip in a bit more. Him and Duchene and Marchment.
  3. Nor do I, as long as Florida played well. They’re better than Toronto. Period. End of story. And once the Panthers got settled, they proved it.
  4. Have the Sharks ever beaten the Stars in a playoff series? I don’t think they have. Edmonton is damn good, beat us last year and are playing great now. We beat Vegas last year and they looked old this series. I wanted it to go as long as possible. If Dallas moves on, we will have our hands full with the Oilers. Of the seven teams still playing, I think I might pick the Oilers as the Cup favorite right now. McDavid and Draisaitl are winning a Cup sometime. It’s inevitable.
  5. Don’t you remember all the drugs the WH pharmacy dispensed during Trump 1.0?
  6. Ouch. Down 5-0 now. Of course Florida kind of ran Stolarz in G1.
  7. Benn can get involved, sure, but IIRC he gave a pretty violent whack to the back of the head with his stick. It was just the wrong thing to do at the absolute worst time because of game conditions.
  8. Normally, it's not. That's this team's superpower. However, in this series, we've been very one-line dependent when it comes to scoring goals. Eight of the 11 we've scored in this series have been scored by Rantanen, Hintz and Granlund. Harley and Petrovic have goals from the blue-line and Wyatt has the long goal among other forwards against the Jets. Harley's goal was scored with the Finnish Line on the ice. Petrovic's goal was scored with Rantanen-Steel-Robertson on the ice. Wyatt's goal was scored with Benn/Dadonov on the ice.
  9. Even though it was 1-1, I thought the Jets outplayed us until Granlund's goal late in the second. Seemed like we were on even footing, or slightly ahead from that point on. Then we got the double-minor early in the third, we take nearly four mins off the clock at 5-v-4 and then score with three seconds left on the second PP and it was 3-1.
  10. I was completely unaware of the connection to Galaxie 500 until Luna rolled across Spotify for me 5-6 (or more years ago) and I went to look them up. 23 Minutes in Brussels, Malibu Love Nest and California (All the Way) are fucking jams.
  11. Cunt of the highest order
  12. 100% -- and this time of year, that's huge. We really need Duchene and Robertson to get going. It would be nice if we can close things out Thursday because I think Vegas is dead-team-walking. There is a very good chance that series is over in five. Was watching NHL Live last night on NHL Channel and paid close attention to the Edmonton-Vegas breakdown. The Oilers are a much deeper team than last season, which is scary. They have like 59 points in 10 playoff games from players not named McDavid or Draisaitl. Last year, they had like 52 points in 25 playoff games from that group. Still don't know what to make of their goalie situation but Skinner was good enough to beat us last year -- and their skating group seems better than a year ago. Luckily we have HFA (I guess) if we can dust off the Jets.
  13. I will not way the Jets "should have" won but I definitely think they were better than us last night -- except in goal, which is kind of a big deal. I haven't looked at the advanced metrics either but the first 40 mins appeared that the rink was tilted considerably in Winnipeg's favor. The Jets had 70 shot attempts and had 13-8 advantage in dangerous scoring chances or whatever it's called. But they have a goalie problem -- ours is playing much better than theirs. We were opportunistic and actually the one goal the Jets scored was a bad one.
  14. Well, yeah, I guess. But they were both early last night. Benn's came at a much more pivotal time -- and was completely avoidable.
  15. "Qatar-a-Lago" Outstanding. https://www.newsweek.com/democrats-fly-qatar-lago-banner-near-trumps-palm-beach-home-2071900
  16. Whoa — Luna coming to Dallas (Granada) on 12/6. Never seen them. Kind of missed them when they were actually active. Tickets purchased!
  17. They didn’t, which is why this is frustrating. Jamie’s penalty could’ve been a killer. The more I thought about it, the dumber it gets. Faux tough guy bullshit with a 2-goal lead and 5 mins left. This is the President’s Trophy winner, who has outplayed you in the game save the goalie spot. They pulled the goalie and scored twice to steal Game 7 in Round 1 just a week ago. If they can knock one in on the PP, it’s even more white-knuckle time for the final 2 mins. We all know how bad we are at empty-net goals. Next thing you know you’re in OT. Just a galactically stupid self-inflicted wound by Benn. The calls against Seguin came from a guy trying to make a play. Bad luck but it wasn’t a total brain-dead move. And Jamie is this team’s captain.
  18. Jets will lay it all on the ice Thursday night. I’ll be very pleasantly surprised if the Stars can clinch the series in five games.
  19. They’re glue/leadership guys now at their age/mileage, which is why the dumb penalties are inexcusable. They’re Guy Carbonneau/Mike Keane guys on this team if you compare back to the 99 Cup team. Any points out of them is a bonus. Rantanen, Wyatt, Robertson, Roope are the weight-carriers in the points department. (Dutch really, really needs to get going, though.)
  20. I had no idea until they mentioned it during tonight’s game that Bichsel had 13 hits in Game 3.
