Which is worse? Old Milwaukee or Natty Light?

In Austin, Jeffrey’s is very good. The Fleming’s at the Domain is consistently good (unlike the downtown location). Been going there for years. Ask for Curtis to be your waiter. Capital Grille is also makes a good steak. On your side of town (which is also mine), there isn’t much. Steiner Ranch Steakhouse has a great view, but after all these years they still can’t cook a good steak, and don’t serve prime beef (which makes no sense).

I would bet he is open. Until he is not.

Did you just use the terms “[John] Mueller” and “consistently” in the same sentence?

Had the 2010 Beckstoffer Dr. Crane about a week ago. Excellent.

That's what Franklin's does as well
  9. I hadn’t really thought about the season compared to others until now. I have watched every season, every episode. Some of the early years were weak (I retrospect) because they had some really weak chefs in the mix. This season seems to have a lot of play-to-the-middle/don’t take chances chefs, which unfortunately seems to be the pathway to get to the finals in some years. I know Tom has complained to the chefs about this in past seasons, but haven’t seem him doing so this year when it looks like that is what they have been doing. Maybe the finals will bring out more from the remaining chefs.
  10. I'm looking forward to it, but I can't imagine the death scene can top this:

I've driven through that area but always stay up north, but it looks nice. A couple of suggestions: 1. Do make the trip to check out the North shore. The scenery is completely different from the south (and amazing) and the drive is easy 2. Take the boat trip on the west side to see the Napali coast. I can't describe how beautifully prehistoric it looks. My recommendation: book the Captain Andy's catamaran tour. one it a couple of times. 3. ZIpline.
  12. We have enjoyed it so far. Will say they have done a kick-ass job of keeping everyone guessing about how this will wrap up.

So mid-Island is kind of crowded, not that nice and the main beach isn’t great, and the restaurant choices aren’t good. I’d stay north or south. We prefer north because it is more scenic (not open for debate) and I think has better beach choices (Tunnels, for example), but some like the south beaches. It is far less crowded than south, but just depends on what you want If you stay on one end and want to go to the other, the drive isn’t that bad. Staying in the middle doesn’t give you the best of anything.

Was driving back to Austin from SA today and finally stopped at Hays. Damn, now I'm mad I hadn't stopped there before. Had moist brisket, jalepeno cheddar sausage and the hatch chile mac and cheese. It was legit, and I will be back I didn't try the pickles
  15. Was looking for BBQ in Fayetteville, Ark, so I e-mailed Daniel Vaughn. He recommended Wrights, which he said he had heard good things about. It is (for the most part) Central Texas style, and good. They started as a truck and then opened a brick and mortar a little over a year ago. Tried it a while back (about to be there again so will check it again), and it was pretty good http://wrightsbarbecue.com/
  16. No -- it was a joke about Fertitta, not about the hotel. Looks nice, and great location.... Lighten up, Francis
  17. Agree. Duval fell apart because he got depressed from a failed relationship, got vertigo and had major back problems. Jordan's issues appear to be between his ears (at times), and some swing flaw issue that rears its head at times causing him to do things like drive into the ocean at Pebble or jhave multiple blow up holes at Riviera (and similar incidents elsewhere -- like Augusta).
  18. Other than the fact it is owned by that d-bag Fertitta

I think the biggest issue is being able to get enough quality fruit from Texas vines. Not a problem in California, but it is an issue in Texas. I get the marketing angle, but frankly I don't buy a lot of Texas wines and telling me it's 100% Texas grapes isn't going to make a difference unless the wine is good.

What has aged well at TC Jester and Ella?
  21. Centurion lounges are the exception (and worth walking to) and quite a bit different than Admiral’s, Delta Sky or United lounges. Problem is there aren’t enough of them. Been to the ones in Houston, Dallas, San Fran, Miami and Philadelphia. All have real food and a full bar (all free). The one in San Fran has a wine dispensing system with decent wines. All have different menus developed by local chefs.
  22. That’s an eloquent, informed opinion.
  23. No. Probably older than most on this board.
  24. I get that, but presumably we'd be creative enough (or maybe I'm giving Hermann and Beck too much credit) to adapt to the Murray or Mayfield skill sets. Whether or not Murray succeeds in the NFL, he was a gifted college QB, as was Mayfield.
  25. Will be fun to watch. What I find interesting on this thread is that if he'd transferred to UT instead of OU (or come here originally) we'd be talking about how great he is and what a good pro QB he will be. Much like Mayfield last year -- if he'd been OUR douchebag QB we'd all have loved him....
