  1. Then I assume you’d be pumped if the football team made the Zaxby’s Heart of Texas Bowl next season.
  2. So why wouldn’t they get it from Kreuz or Smitty’s? Odd.
  3. No, he’s full of Schmidt. I don’t know what to think about Schmidt. I live near Lake Travis, and it’s a bbq wasteland out here (though I haven’t tried Interstellar yet). By default, I’ve been by there a number of times for que. It is never great, and generally waivers between OK (edible) and bad. Occasionally I get something that is pretty good. I am clearly in the “keep doing the same thing/expecting different results” category because I find myself there probably 3-ish times a year, hoping. I would have thought that after this many years they’d be able to at least be consistent, and score at least above average. They still aren’t there.
  4. No, they don’t have to say anything because IT WASN’T INTENDED TO BE HISTORICALLY ACCURATE. It was intended to be a fiction based on factual events. That said, like what you like. They are different movies, both fine for what they were intended to be.
  5. It was not meant to be a biopic. It was a historical semi-fiction, with great acting, a top notch script and acting, great directing and cinematography. It changed filmmaking, and paved the way for movies like “The Wild Bunch.” It’s on pretty much any of the “top movies” list.
  6. Seriously? I hope this is sarcasm because, if not, you are off on so many levels...
  7. Yeah — Stone Oak area is Reagan High School area. Not exactly the hood....
  8. As Futureman noted, they are not tearing it down. I remember going to the old park, which was a converted minor league stadium. It was ugly, uncomfortable and incredibly hot in the summer. The Ballpark, on the other hand, is much nicer looking, comfortable — and yet still incredibly hot in the summer. Though we’ll miss watching the games in the Ballpark, having A/C in August will be nice.
  9. Agree. Our kids are older now (college and beyond), but I remember the days of trying to find places we could go in Texas for a quick trip. SA is at the top of the list for that. Houston has some places (NASA, Natural History Museum, Astroworld — no, now bulldozed, and Galveston, admittedly not a great beach). Dallas is lacking for a family trip (unless you stay in Arlington and hit Six Flags, catch a game, and go to the water park), and Austin really doesn’t have a lot of kid places. Heading to Port A and South Padre is fun, but not at Spring Break when you have the college crowd there. SA is not at the top of my vacation choices, but if I was looking for a reasonably priced destination for a 3-4 day trip in Texas, that I could drive to and that offered options for kids, SA is the place.
  10. It's legal if the speed limit on the street is 25 mph (or you can use a dedicated bike lane). Problem is that many of the riders don't understand that if you are on the street (and not in a bike lane), you have follow the same rules as cars, motorcycles, bikes on streets, etc.
  11. And fans cannot contain their excitement:
  12. I would be gruntled if Shaka left. I would be double-gruntled if he took Bohls with him.

  14. Agree. I remember going there several years back and it wasn’t bad. Not sure if they got worse or bbq elsewhere got better, but after a couple of stops with crappy bbq I just pass it by now.
  15. We stayed in Uvita (just down the coast from Quepos) last May. Heavy rains were mostly in the evening.
  16. I am downtown at least 5 days a week. I have never seen the police ticket or even warn a scooter rider.
  17. Agree. They kill it because they market well, and make it a place where large groups can go, with kids, and get in and out. Breakfast tacos are middling. Barbecue is middling. I hate the sausage (taste and texture of Hillshire Farms). The moist brisket is the best thing on the menu.
  18. It was my understanding there would be no math involved
  19. Not doubting you at all, just never smelled it. Never stayed anywhere other than at the Embassy Suites there on a few trips, and it was not noticeable. trust me, I’m not defending Lubbock.
