  1. Our old nanny called us on Wednesday to tell us that she was in the hospital with AML leukemia, which is the exact thing I have been fighting for 2 years. It’s really crazy. She was our nanny 2 years ago when I was first diagnosed and treated. She is 31/32, so she’s young and in good shape. No other morbidities that I am aware of and she got down to MDA today. So, hopefully she’s in a good spot but super sad. Her brother committed suicide about 3 months ago, so her parents are still shell shocked from that. She is still in total shock and denial. My wife and I have told her the same thing about being in the hospital and not being able to leave for a month like 4 times and she just does not hear us. She keeps asking us when she can go home and tried to check into a hotel tonight before being turned away. They honestly may need to sedate her over the next month to get through it.
  2. What’s he going to do? Attack the bad guys with his beard lice?
  3. I'm not a dance pop person, but this one gets me going:

    What was Stones doing there?
  5. It’s not that I don’t want to watch it. Finding time is tough these days with work (me and wife) and two kids (4 and 7). I happened to have the flu, so I was able to sit in a bedroom and knock out 3 shorts seasons. 12 short seasons when things are normal is a bit more of a task.
  6. I watched this over the last week and really enjoyed it. Funny throughout and got emotional at times. The characters were all distinct and interesting. I want to watch Letterkenny but that episode count is daunting. Scattershot thoughts: - The constant tear downs and insults had an incredibly high hit rate. Top notch writing. - I loved the little ridiculous concepts they threw in there like Sudbury having just straight 10's all over town. So funny - Any scene in Nat's office was a must watch. Same 5 characters and always entertaining. Someone asked earlier and the answer is Miig - The Jims were fucking beauties. I sat up in my chair each time it was coming around to Jim 3 - The only repetitive joke and set up that didn't work for me was JJ Frankie JJ. It was fine, but a ton of time was spent on all of his exes and it was diminishing returns - Jory Jordan is a king. - Shorsey saying "Huh?" a second after asking a question got me every time. I hope that was unscripted and he would just throw it in to throw people off randomly. I did it to my wife like twice and she shut it down real quick. Highly recommended if anyone is considering it.
  7. This always seemed real stupid. You need to give people time to watch at home before releasing part 2. This is not even a paradigm shift with less people going to the theater, this just seems like common sense in any era. I assume part 3 and 4 aren’t filming any time soon.
  8. How long do they have to wait until they announce Berhalter as the replacement? How long do they have to wait until they announce Berhalter as the replacement?

Walker did not need to do that. Brutal. Kane off? That’s weird in a game that has a high probability of going to pens.

  11. I kept looking for a premiere date and glad it’s so soon. I’ve read a few books ahead, so pretty pumped. Spook Street (this season) is great. Gotta get enough seasons in before the main cast members get bored.

Love Kane penalties. No dancing, he just runs up and smashes it. Respect to the goalie if you can reach those.
  13. Ok, I have to ask. How did an 11 year old in the year of our Lord 2024 get interested in Encino Man? Is there a Pauly Shore comeback I wasn’t aware of?
  14. Had nothing to watch the other night so popped on The Nice Guys again. What a fun movie. Crowe and Gosling are great and it’s so well written. I really wish it would have done better so Shane Black would get more shots like this.

What year was this in the A&M yearbook? 1986?
  16. I do find it funny the instead of a Tesla, he is looking at a VW. You know, the original and literal Nazi car.
  17. “And if a former president’s official acts are routinely subjected to scrutiny in criminal prosecutions, “the independence of the executive branch” may be significantly undermined.” I’m sorry. Didn’t they just destroy the independence of the executive branch? Or is the Executive Branch just the President now?
  18. I haven't gotten into Season 3 yet, but I have been rewatching 2. The Fishes/Forks duo, as well as the finale have been discussed to death (deservedly so), but the two in between are really good too ("I wear suits now"). I had forgotten how much goes on in those and how well it brings us down and sets the stage for the finale. Just really top notch writing and season building.
  19. https://www.history.com/news/why-the-star-spangled-banner-is-played-at-sporting-events Apparently WWI. I've stopped being into that too since it's just performative nonsense to me. I'll go through the motions, but I prefer to be somewhere else (bathroom, walking the concourse, etc) when it's being sung. I just find it strange. Why not do it before movies? Plays? They do it before my 7 year old's swim meets for some reason. They have cute kids do it, so I guess it's a performance for them, but I don't need to perform as well. I actually just asked my 7 year old about the pledge of allegiance and she had no idea what I was talking about. She goes to an Episcopal school, so depending on your views, that can have its' own cult aspects. I have been pleased with signs that they use a very progressive and welcoming version of Christianity. Interesting variation on the usual Church vs State argument though.
  20. We should just trash the whole pledge of allegiance. Looking back, that’s some creepy, cult shit.
  21. I saw it in theaters a bit back and enjoyed it. Nothing fancy, just a fun movie. Dudes rock. It didn’t do great here, but I hoped it did well enough in the UK to be a success. I saw it had $0 and apparently Amazon had rights in the UK, so no box office there. Sucks that they didn’t put it in theaters. Hopefully Amazon paid up big to offset it.
  22. We were all in the car yesterday and my 4 year old said, “Mommy, I just saw one of those ugly cars”. He meant the CyberTruck. Raising them right in this house.
