Frankly, how ND is treating the troops is disgusting and they should be forced to forfeit the rest of their games

2024 Presidential Election Thread - Let's keep the party going.
Were there any voting locations close to the rally yesterday? It would have been awesome if there was a line switch system where one person could go vote while waiting in line and then switch with whoever you came with.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen 3 pick 6’s in one game.

Guardians 3 was really good. The rest can be done without.

Texas Basketball 2024-25
Oh shit, I just saw that Grayson Allen is on the Suns. Was he there? If him and Ted Cruz were there, does that multiply the curse?

Slow Horses
Awesome. I just picked up Joe Country yesterday, assuming we would get at least 6 seasons. Definitely interesting that they would combine two books. It wouldn't surprise me if that season runs more episodes, but would be the last one. There is just one more book completed with one more on the way in 2025, so they won't GoT/GRRM it.

I wanted to point out that this is now available to rent. Definitely worth a watch if you're looking for something.

Unpopular movie opinions
This was on again the other night, so I watched it for the 100th time. I think I agree that Fugit was fine. He's an awkward 17 year old playing an awkward 15 year old. If he was smooth, it would be a little weird. In the bigger moments ("I AM THE ENEMY" and "I LOVED HER"), he's not great, but in the quieter moments, I think he plays the wide eyed kid well. I do disagree on the Crudup/Pitt thing. I think with Pitt, it's a different movie, and the whole movie would be imbalanced. That kind of super wattage would take away from the movie. The strength of the movie is the scruffiness of it with smaller actors reflecting the level of the band who isn't quite there yet. It would have made more money, but I don't think it would feel as casual or rewatchable. I do want to add one thing. Every time I watch it, I love Jason Lee more. He's such a charismatic and fun performer ("actually, THAT you can print"). He had a fine career and is beloved by men of a certain age, but I wish he had more shots like this.

2024-2025 Houston Rockets thread - Prepare for Liftoff 🚀 [Now Featuring Kevin Durant]
Not sure if this needs its' own thread, but a new book about Dream came out today. https://www.amazon.com/dp/030683118X/?bestFormat=true&k=dream the life and legacy of hakeem olajuwon&ref_=nb_sb_ss_w_scx-ent-pd-bk-d_de_k0_1_12&crid=DP3B7NB1I2QW&sprefix=dream%3A hakeem An excerpt from the book: https://www.theringer.com/nba/2024/10/15/24267059/hakeem-olajuwon-dream-shake-book-excerpt-the-life-and-legacy The author was on Russillo's podcast too, talking about it. I am not that engaged with the recent Rockets teams, but I was 12-13 years old during those titles and he is my favorite athlete ever. He doesn't get the love he deserves. Super excited to read this one.

Dabo and Clemson
I think Dabo is disingenuous asshole, but credit to him and his guys for seemingly turning it around. I agree the schedule has been light but they have been beating the fuck out of people, which is what good teams do.

Beyond being smoke, she seems cool as shit and just having a great time being famous. Going to Donn’s just confirms all of that.

Ant man!
What’s a “defensive stop” as opposed to a tackle? Something about rerouting a runner or getting into passing lanes?

Slow Horses
The finale last night was great. They had a lot to cover and they did a great job. They changed some of the pieces around at the end from the book, but got to the same place. Still one of the better series on TV and very reliably so. One thing I wish they did from the book was :

I caught the cancer
Well, looks like we are getting going for stem cell transplant #2 next month. Really fucking bummed. The concern now, is getting there as my numbers are dropping rapidly. To do the transplant, they need to have some control over the disease. If they don't, they have to get it down and then do the transplant. There is a chance they can't get it down enough for the transplant and I honestly don't know what that would mean. They won't discuss that, so I don't imagine it's good. I did get my stem cell doctor to admit that he is shocked we are in this position. Based on my type, he said that we shouldn't have needed a FIRST transplant, much less continuing to have issues. He said him and my oncologist (probably a top 3 leukemia doctor in the world) are both pretty baffled with how my cancer is acting. It's both comforting to know that I've been doing what I can and I'm not crazy that this is hard and terrifying that they seem to be grasping at straws a bit. We'll see.

There’s a bylaw in the CFP that says “…if you lose to those nerds in Nashville, you are disqualified for consideration.” Lot of people don’t know that.
