  1. It would be if it weren't artificial.
  2. Combination For Two is not all that bad as a band name, but I like it a lot better as a song title. Mileage may vary in your immediate cosmic vicinity. Ooohhh, wait! Cosmic Vicinity has some possibilities...
  3. I'm assuming you're just working your bit, because nobody's dumb enough to believe that every ***** fits any scheme. I think you're now on record as being a bit player, or perhaps just a dumbass. From your own perspective, you've won the day. Congratulations.
  4. Actually, True Regret is a bleeding asshole.
  5. Oh, right. Bill Walton and Kareem coulda been ass-kicking point guards.
  6. Unpossible. They only talk about tu, t.u., tea sippers, t-sips, and varsity. Your feed is provided by Artificial Stupidity.
  7. Kinda the point - take the best guys you can, not just the best guys who fit your schemes.
  8. John Wooden of UCLA basketball fame won what, 9 or 10 National Championships in 11 Years. His teams were often dramatically different from year to year - big one year, running and gunning the next, full-court pressure buzzer to buzzer the next. Asked how he did it, he said he recruited the best talent he could, and then sat down to figure out how best to play them. Worked for basketball.
  9. Well, sure... when you leave the chair...
  10. Can Agbo catch? Could we make some effort to teach him to catch?
  11. Miz Long has Elvis, who is alleged to be a Basset and Italian Greyhound mix, but looks like a Jack Russell on stilts (I'm doubting the Basset ancestry). He's tall enough to get his nose (and tongue) to the edge of the counters and counter-height table. If we're careless enough to leave a chair pulled out, it's a precarious two jumps to true surfing. I'm considering an investment into a dog-size mouse trap.
  12. More reflective of real life?
  13. I think you misunderstand the meaning of "counter surfing". In my experience, ranging from Bassets and Beagles to Labs and Standard Poodles - including just plain mutts - your Dog stands on his hind legs, hooks his nose and muzzle over the edge of the counter, starting at one end and toddling to the other end, snuffling vigorously. Move to another counter or table top, repeat. In the event anything palatable is found, slurp at it until it falls onto the floor or moves too far back to slurp. Cats frequently assist by throwing things off the counter or table, or at least pushing them closer to the edge.
  14. Noise, Odors, and Outdoor Sex is kinda on the long side, but still a damn fine band name. Might be okay for a triple-header concert, though.
  15. Tell about the rabbits
  16. Between owners, general managers, and head coaches there are around a hundred NFL brainiacs, and I'll be surprised if there aren't five or six who are pretty damn sure they can teach Quinn to throw the long ball and how to check to the weak side run. I reckon one of those five or six will take him by at least the second round.
  17. PM Major Applewhite
  18. Nutshell. When your plays only work properly when the D is fooled, the Smart Fucker will shut you down.
  19. One of the Talking Heads said Texas needs to have an offensive identity. I think that is a correct assessment. We don't need to surprise anybody, just line up and do what we do... whatever that turns out to be.
  20. A statement we've heard about Steve, early and often, is that his play-calling shows no tendencies. But for the second time at least, we've had defenders from a team we just lost to say "we knew what their plays were gonna be when they showed their formations". That was Captain Jack recently, and a UGa guy after the regular season loss. Sawyer even added "we knew they like to run that toss sweep there." Not showing a trend is a trend. Steve, you're showing yourself to be a damned fine HC. Quit trying to prove you're still the Man when it comes to the Offense... everybody gets it and everybody agrees. You need to find an OC who can implement your strategies in practice, game planning, and play calling. And you need to not micromanage that person. Do it.
  21. Gilbert was bad. He was I think 15 of 40, 4 INTs? Boom had Bama shut down in second half, and we were 3 points down with 3 minutes left. Gilbert didn't see an unblocked blitz coming, sacked, lost the ball on our own 3 yard line. Bama scored. Then even more desperation time, INT. Bama scored. Looks like a total ass-kicking, score-wise, but Bama got 13 at the end of the game with Texas trying to drive. It was a 3-point game, but freshman QB choked at the end, went from 21-24 to 21-37. No Snead, but we had a Junior QB who got zip for playing time all season so Mack could let his freshman get some pt. Sherrod Harris - not sure if he coulda done better than Gilbert, but prolly couldn't have been much worse. Harris quit football the next year. Can't say he shouldn't have. You're right, Snead would probably have bailed anyway. But if not, he would have beat the Tide. I don't think Bama threw more than 10 times total, and Mack decided he needed to change his offense to run instead of passing. Gilbert was no runner. What a beating that shit was. Hey, screw that. Let's get back to the Arch Era.
  22. I don't know if we could have kept Snead on the team, but if we woulda coulda shoulda had him coming onto the field against Bama when Colt went down, insteada Gilbert we'da won that game. Bet Snead woulda known where his helmet was, too.
  23. Freshman McCoy got a right shoulder/neck stinger (appeared to be basically the same injury he got in the Bama NC game three years later and at least once more in the NFL) running in the first TD at KState. Snead ran the rest of the game, put up 35 more points. We got Purple Wizarded and lost 45-42. I don't see any rational point in blaming Snead for the loss. Next up was aggy, in Austin. McCoy was still hurt and had flu on top of it, but his brilliant coach, Mack Brown, played him anyway. He was completely ineffective. Snead stood right next to Mack the whole game, arms folded, waiting - in vain - to go in. McCoy got cheap-shotted twice by aggy in the last minutes, and wound up being carried off the field (giving rise to the aggy "Cart McCry" meme). Snead got to throw one pass into the icy wind as the game ended. Snead was clearly pissed, and he fucked off to Ole Miss... it's hard to blame him.
  24. I believe the preferred group term for pigs - especially flying ones - is "passel".
