  1. It fur sure slams hard, but I wish they’d work in a special. You’re in the $25 range for a burger and a beer.
  2. Maybe. Specs not being able to move their Elijah Craig BP pick for weeks and weeks could be the canary in the coal mine. It’s a little young at 8 years and not priced well at $92, so it could be a one off. Based on the December drop picks, I’d say Austin and Dallas have cooled off. I might drive up to Austin next year for it.
  3. Carmine did it the right way. Pulled Tony to the side and talked to him privately. But yes, it was a dumb thing to call him out on.
  4. My department is pressing on with their annual crawfish boil in April. One of my coworkers has a crawfish boil business as his side hustle, and the Louisiana guys LOVE to help out, so I guess they couldn’t take this away from them. I would be completely onboard with BBQ or steaks, but I guess crawfish is so engrained as a Houston thing it wouldn’t much of a party without mudbugs.
  5. Let me see. Flies SWA. Drives the same car to work for a couple decades. Won’t give his daughter who sits on the company’s board control of the company. Son isn’t in the business. I’d say Autry is a grumpy, old miser. If he attends Texas games, he’s probably sneaking in snacks from home.
  6. Fair enough. Again I don’t mind paying for more if it’s for charity or something, but those picks are limited almost exclusively limited to private groups.
  7. On the field, Miami is basically another SEC game. Big, athletic dudes coached by a regard. A series would accomplish very little other than a fun trip for the fans. UNC would be pretty good. Mack should be long gone before our future schedule opens up. BC is a fun trip for the fans and precious else. Same goes for Louisville, but there'd be a reasonable chance of a ranked opponent. The wine and cheese crowd would be all over Stanford and Cal games. Hint: If you're rich, you don't need a football excuse to take a trip to Napa. Just go. I'd imagine ESPN is going to shotgun wedding us into games against Clemson and Florida State, and "politely request" we not play Big Ten teams.
  8. Glover had to be the biggest obstacle. The guy just makes his own schedule. Chevy is probably a no go for many, many reasons. I can live with it. Gillian Jacobs also still hot.
  9. I’ll pay more for a store pick if there’s a story behind it. Deb’s claims they do their picks in Kentucky, and charge a premium to cover their expenses. Spec’s either has the distiller make the pick for them or if the employees are lucky, the distiller will send samples and they’ll have a tasting. They’re not incurring any additional expenses.
  10. City Market in Luling should just drop the charade and sell only beef sausage.
  11. Has anybody used Froot Bat before? Prices are ok and I’ve heard good things.
  12. I would do it. If they have another bottle/deliver please let me know.
  13. I like the show, but I never got the vibe that Don wasn’t in Gal and Aitch’s crew/ didn’t come up with them. An associate, an enforcer sure, but not close to them. I guess it’s not a very familiar prequel if Don isn’t a main character. The actor nailed Don’s mannerisms, and the show provides a believable backstory. But this character couldn’t exist in the real world. He’d get arrested every 5 minutes.
  14. The JD pick is about $20 higher than MSRP and the Kentucky Spirit pick is $15 higher.
  15. Hard to argue with that list. I don’t recall Carmine or Johnny Sack ever discussing whacking Tony. Bitching about him sure, but they never put anything in motion. The Junior Feud was a pretty quick boil. Junior found out Tony was meeting with the capos at Green Grove + seeing a psychiatrist, and he gave the nod. I liked Tony’s response, it was the right move. Punish Junior financially, demote him and Bobby, but don’t kill him because it makes the Sopranos like shit to kill blood relatives.
  16. Spec’s has joined the club of cute pricing on their picks. I paid $75 each for a JD BPSiB and a Kentucky Spirit pick.
  17. So Kevin Warren was incompetent or an idiot when he scuttled CFP expansion so they could take “take it the open market?” The CFP has always been and always will be a TV contract between the FBS and ESPN. Fox not even bidding on it is curious. Cuban has dropped some recent hints that he believes the networks and streamers can’t afford to pay the leagues what is currently owed in their contracts.
  18. Clear Springs is solid if you like fried food served with goofy shit all over the walls. There’s a Texas Roadhouse as well. The only thing I remotely miss is a solid Rosa’s location by the hospital, and the breakfast burritos at JumBurritos. Dining wise it’s pretty similar to your College Station and Waco’s of the world. Don’t overthink it and you won’t be disappointed.
  19. There’s no Pizza Inn scarcity. There are several locations in Houston. Most notably, there’s one near Karbach on Magnum.
  20. Cary’s attorneys just couldn’t overcome The General’s expert testimony.
  21. Is the REI pit posted upthread large enough for Lowe’s/ Home Depot firewood? I’m toying with the idea of donating my Breeo to my rodeo committee.
  22. Green fell down on the final play of the game and made a really shitty pass. He got bailed out by a terrible foul call on Brunson.
