  1. Thinking over it Beard has had a decent amount of athleticism on his teams the past 4 years. Zhaire Smith Jarret Culver Tariq Owens Terrance Shannon Jahmi'us Ramsey Micah Peavy Mac McClung Even Kevin Mccullar is a big, physically imposing wing. Granted Beard's Tech team didn't have a bunch of front court athletes outside of Owens but they were plenty athletic on the wing. In all honesty this Texas team is probably the least athletic team he's had over the last 4 or 5 years. And given the athletes we've had in the front court over the past years the lack of athleticism on the front court is glaring. Of course it helps that these guys are actually good at basketball and hopefully the return of Disu will help remedy our lack of athleticism.
  2. IF you read any of the excerpts of the Giannis book his lack of weight entering the NBA was due to malnutrition so his relative size now is a totally different issue. When the Hawks' doctors looked at him they said his bone development was that of a 14 year old despite being 17 or 18 at the time. And a when a set of Greek doctors first looked at his liver function they thought they were looking at the lab results of an old man who was a raging alcoholic. Giannis' story is truly miraculous.
  3. Charlie Strong never coached Lamar Jackson.
  4. Nor do they address the fact that Williams moved his family from Long Beach to Compton for the expressed purpose of forcing his girls to grow up in a tough environment because he believed that would give them a mental toughness advantage in tennis. Of course it would later prove ill-fated when the eldest girl Tunde was murdered in a shootout in the early 2000s.
  5. Does anyone know of a good documentary or background info on Mayo? I've never even heard his name mentioned prior to this season.
  6. One of the Coppell players is an Indian-American who is a top 130 player (he was top 100, but his ranking fell since the pandemic) in the nation. Probably the best shooter in the state and a Stanford commit. https://247sports.com/Player/Ryan-Agarwal-46102422/
  7. Royce also had the game winning block. https://www.instagram.com/p/CWWFfAJv7gI/?utm_medium=copy_link
  8. Interesting that 21 year old Jalen Wilson's suspension was 3x as long as 58 year old Mark Few's.
  9. Gonzaga may be "damn good", but we played horrible defense against them. It's understandable given how we're a completely new team, but the defensive chemistry has to improve tremendously if we hope to realize our potential.
  10. My thoughts exactly. I was extremely impressed with him a couple years ago. I think Louisville rose to #1 or something around there and they got a recruit out of Rockwall, TX that I was hoping we'd get. He hasn't done much of anything there yet, but he was the long, skilled wing that our program has lacked for a long time. Of course flash forward a couple years, Beard gets here, and immediately gets those exact specs on not 1, but 2 wing recruits in back to back classes with Jaylon Tyson and Dilon Mitchell, so crisis averted.
  11. Isn't this Chris Mack's 4th year at Louisville? I forget whether he's dealing with NCAA sanctions or anything, but this is surprising giving the promise he showed in his 2nd season there.
  12. Unless you're a top-2 level executive you don't make shit in an NBA front office. At least that was the case for the basketball side of the front office up until the mid 00s. I believe Amin made it up to VP of basketball Ops or somewhere below that tier. He tells a story about being elated to get a raise that brought him up to 50K.
  13. Lance also attempted to have a free agent PG workout for the team without getting him to sign waivers which is a baseline NBA protocol checkpoint in those types of circumstances.
  14. Forgot the podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/be/podcast/amin-elhassan-on-his-phoenix-suns-days-shaq-locker/id1109271715?i=1000507751314 Quote from the podcast purportedly said verbatim by Lance Blanks: "I'm the general manager. That means I manage things generally" Amin is a great storyteller and he basically describes Lance as the gm version of Michael Scott from the Office.
  15. Ive heard Amin talk about his experiences with Lance (without ever mentioning his name) on multiple podcast and the general gist is Lance was a lazy, middle management type whose only goal upon getting the GM gig was maintaining the GM gig. . He starts talking about it on the RInger NBA show with Raja Bell at 17:40 of this podcast.
  16. Amin telling stories about Robert Sarver but I'm posting this here particularly because the person he begins talking about a little after the 19:00 mark is none other than our own Lance Blanks.
  17. The main problem is they took ZIon's bluff way too seriously and then ruined their team building plan in the process. There was no need to hasten their plan just because Zion and his fat, injury prone ass threatened to give up 40 to 50 million dollars and not take his rookie extension. All that talk of him saying no to the extension was and is complete and utter nonsense. If the rumors were true and he and his family were really making noise about getting out of dodge I would've told them to "do what yall gotta do" while simultaneously opening up a briefcase full of over 200+ million dollars.
  18. I aint gonna lie. I'd rather have Royce than Bishop, but I'm happy for him to finally get his opportunity.
  19. Fucking A!! Can't wait for this game.
  20. I like that we ran the motion offense from a much more spread out alignment than what Beard typically did at Tech. Probably had something to do with the fact that we have way more shooters on the floor than what he usually had at Tech. .
  21. Native metroplexian and 2nd yr player Tyrese dropped 31 points last night. I wonder what Josh Green and his 0.3 ppg has in store for us tonight.
  22. If you think that's weird then you haven't been paying attention.
  23. Anybody else see this dirty ass play
