That's literally 99% of it. I'll say this - it gets easier to not be a glutton the longer you work at it. One of the things I've noticed after 6 months or so of eating better, and smaller portions, is that my stomach simply can't hold the volume I used to eat. For example, once a year or so, I need a visit to the Chinese Buffet, where I always overeat and typically need a nap afterwards. I got that itch last month and I could tell towards the end of my gorging that this wasn't going to end well. By the time I got home, I had legit pains in my gut. Spent the next couple of hours in bed, trying to nap, but having to move all the time to reposition my stomach, trying to alleviate the pains from overstuffing myself. I can't eat a full pint of ice cream anymore. When I eat a steak now, that's usually it - no sides. Your body will adapt, you just have to hold on long enough for it to catch up with your discipline.
