    Austin FC

I think I followed some steps from this article last year.
  2. He still sounds great. We saw him in the early 90s playing with Elton John at the Alamodome. Glass Houses was one of my first albums.
  3. We often split 2 or 3 meat plates. I usually get coleslaw unless the place uses a sweet dressing. Half of the tater tot casserole and half of the Brussel sprouts were taken home. I think a good vinegar based slaw balances the fattiness of the meats. I make and keep serrano slaw dressing and shredded cabbage at the house which makes an easy addition to complete meals.
  4. How much of it, if any, has to do with him not being the focus of attention? I often see kids going to great lengths to get or keep parents attention in situations where the parents are interacting with others. Not sure if that is the case or not, but it might be worth exploring.
  5. Watched Argylle last night - star-studded spy comedy. It was entertaining. Sam Rockwell is good in anything.
  6. Had another decent meal at Stiles Switch in Cedar Park. Brisket, pork ribs, jalapeño slaw, Serrano fried Brussel sprouts, chessy tater tot casserole, and smoked Buffalo wings. Not outstanding like many of the top places, but it's nice to be able to get good barbecue on a Saturday night when everyone else has already closed. Saved one slice of brisket for breakfast and most of the wings to eat later today during the Austin FC match.
  7. Ha. I'm not alone.
  8. I always focus on the rhythmic thumping sound. Once I fell asleep.
  9. There is a similar and potentially related subconscious process that was discussed in one of my psychology classes. It has to do with how a person attributes another persons actions as compared to their own. For example: the person in front of you doesn't hold the door for you - you attribute it to a personality flaw (inconsiderate, etc.); whereas, if you don't hold the door for the next person - it is something situational (hands are full, etc.). It's called Fundamental Attribution Error.
  10. Interstellar BBQ on 620 is really good (Texas Monthly #2 in 2021) and should be right on your way.
  11. I bought my wife a Coach purse back when we were dating before the turn of the century. She didn't much use a purse before and only uses it occasionally. It'll last her lifetime.
  12. LeRoy says that finished brisket amounts to 36% of the total. L&L use almost every piece for different things: burgers and tallow primarily. Watching their various videos - it appears that L&L has very little waste. Here is a video of his brisket yield test:
  13. I didn't take a picture of the LeRoy & Lewis menu with the prices, but its not cheap. I know the brisket, which is only available on Saturdays, was $40/pound. The $23 two meat plate had an upcharge of $2 for sliced beef and $3 for brisket.
  14. Pics of sister?
  15. Cooking pot roast while banging your sister?
  16. We use 1Password. Has worked well for us for three years or so. App for the mobile devices and plug-in for browser. Easy to share specific logins with other family members. Can auto populate credit card numbers in a couple clicks of the mouse.
  17. First five minutes of explains where and how L&L gets chuck meat for its sliced beef. Probably could not get and results with a regular chuck roast.
  18. Wasn't tough - taste and consistency of a sirloin steak. The flat iron was very tender and seasoned just like a brisket. You can see the flat iron on my plate and both on the tray.
  19. They do and there are probably short lines. However, I believe it is a reduced menu. They didn't have the daily specials of brisket or bacon ribs yesterday.
  20. Hit LeRoy and Lewis Barbecue's new brick and mortar yesterday. Got there around 11:30 and it was a two hour wait. Probably the busiest time of the entire week. They have an "Anytime Eats" menu which can be ordered at the bar with no line, no waiting. Burgers, sandwiches, sausage wraps, onion rings, etc. Some people ordered from this menu to eat while in line. Regular by-the-pound menu regular items were sliced beef, chopped beef, pulled whole hog, direct smoked chicken, and sausages. Daily specials of beef cheeks on Fridays; brisket and bacon ribs on Saturdays; and pork chops, beef barbacoa, and lamb barbacoa on Sundays. I talked with Evan who was on the cutting board. Sliced beef was either flat iron or chuck roast. Flat iron tasted like brisket and chuck roast was more like smoked steak. Both were very good. I ordered the two meat plate with sliced beef, whole hog, Caesar slaw, and kimchi. My buddy ordered the Pitmaster's Platter which has both types of sliced beef, whole hog, two types of sausage, cauliflower burnt ends, miso glazed carrot, and a bunch of sides.
  21. Pro tip: if you ever get put in a mental institution - act like you're crazy and then get better. Acting like you're not crazy doesn't work.
  22. The wife has a 2018 4Runner Limited with the X-REAS system. Needs replacing and I am not paying to replace that. Anyone here converted to regular shocks like Bilsteins?
  23. Do you really want to hurt me?
