  2. That was simultaneously the best DC movie I've seen in a long time and a big ole mess. And way too long, overstayed its welcome by well over 20 minutes. The whole time I was thinking "if I were Mexican, this would be awesome."
  3. "What did he say?" "He said the assistant head coach is near."
  4. One bright spot about us (and Bama) struggling yesterday is that it seems to have the aggy roller coaster going back up. Not sure how that works but here we are.
  5. BC td, for Welles
  6. I'm looking forward to seeing what the "worst Bama team in the Saban era" is going to do to aggy on Oct 7.
  7. Aaron Murray and some other dude talk to Colt about our season so far.
  8. They should get all the women together and have a makeup orgy. Yes, even the mom.
  9. To commemorate me gutting it through the Barbie movie (it was mid), here's a young Asian British girl doing her best Stephen Malkmus impersonation (he's mentioned in the movie).
  10. I still love Greta but holy shit that was boring. And I actually had to explain to my wife who tf Stephen Malkmus was.
  11. Saw that Netflix is working on an adaptation of Death Note, made by the folks who did Stranger Things. Looking forward to that.
  12. Australia - a home intruder breaks into a house. Thankfully he's overpowered by a resident. The resident then rapes the intruder, resulting in death. The occupant was convicted of rape. I mean, the guy broke into your backdoor, but you break into his? Seems unfair. https://www.sheppnews.com.au/national/man-guilty-of-raping-intruder-not-guilty-of-killing/
  13. Beartooth dropped a new song. @jetsfan76 Love the new Spiritbox song. Not as strong as Eternal Blue or Void, but still great.

    Is Punk Dead?

It'll come back. The current rap music is getting very stale. And rock bands still can fill large venues to massive arenas - newer bands, bands that never get mentioned here. What jazz act can do that? Rock has plenty of young fans. They just listen to different bands. Jazz only has old fans, aside from a few kids who get into it for some reason.
  15. What the hell happened to Emarosa? They used to be a post-hardcore band. This song sounds like it could be from Justin Bieber. Great pop song.

If you think punk rock is dead, the folks at Subaru would like to have a word with you

    Is Punk Dead?

I still think the point of my post, regardless of the <redacted> reference, still stands. Rock music got a lot more hardcore after 2000. Look at the Spotify rock charts I linked. At #5 and #8 is Bring Me the Horizon. At #2 is Bad Omens. They may not be exactly punk but they have some roots in punk/hardcore. Early BMTH: Early Bad Omens:

    Is Punk Dead?

Agreed. Rick Beato has a video called the Y2K Curse, where he talks about bands that were popular in the late 90s that kind of faded away after Y2K. The post-grunge era of music got super mellow. Bands like 3rd Eye Blind, Hootie and the Blowfish, Creed, Big Head Todd, etc. They still put out music after Y2K but faded in significance. They probably strayed too far from punk and hardcore roots. Beato talked about how rock got decidedly harder and heavier after that. Mainly was talking about nu metal, but if you look at the current Spotify rock list, you see a lot of bands that have hardcore roots. Basically any "blank"-core band has roots in punk - deathcore, metalcore, mathcore, etc
