Derka of Rock should be a band name. His music isn't terrible but it's horribly dated. He's a young guy and it sounds like he's only listened to old-man music his entire life, I guess like most of us on this board. If he freshened up his sound a little I think he would do better. I like this song and video.
  2. Well, the convenience store guys (not the robber) in the video I posted above are now in trouble. My question is, where were the cops the previous times this guy robbed them? Was that just not interesting enough for them?
  3. I don't actual mind the backing into parking spaces. It was more of a joke. And it's okay that you're into necrophilia. But, can we talk about something else every once in a while?
  4. People who bring up their accomplishments out of context. People who bring up being vegan out of context. People whose entire personality is their taste in music. People whose entire personality is their sexuality. People who back into parking spaces.
  5. Here's an interesting video about why music festivals sound better today than before.

    Best Rock Vocalists

Oh, I know. How could I forget the great Layne Staley. He's on my list.

    Best Rock Vocalists

I was a huge FNM fan. I remember hurrying out to buy the Mr Bungle album and then eagerly racing home to listen to it. It was.... inaccessible. To say the least.

    Cobain? Morrison?
  9. This awesome slowed down version of Chelsea Smile by BMTH has a completely different feel than the original, which is great on its own. Original...

    Best Rock Vocalists

Some examples of Hayley Williams. Here sharing the stage with Taylor Swift and just dominates. Taylor is great at what she does but can't match the vocal power of Hayley.

    Best Rock Vocalists

Hayley Williams is a pretty awesome singer and IMO the best front woman working today. She's got the talent and charisma.
  12. Wow, that review reads like the reviewer has a vendetta against them. I may hate GVF's music but there are people that like them and that's cool.
  13. The link in the OP was deleted. I'm curious what exactly it said. I've just accepted that rock music won't be popular. I just looked at the top of the charts and it's dominated by country, pop, rap, and spanish language music. But the rock music that's out there right now is outstanding IMO. Certain trends in current rock music have made it better IMO. Specifically: - More breakdowns and fewer guitar solos. As much as I love listening to and playing guitar, a breakdown is way more enjoyable and engaging than a guitar solo. During a concert, even the best extended guitar solo is likely to put everyone to sleep *except guitarists) while a kickass breakdown gets everyone amped up - The popularity of 7 and 8 string guitars, especially in heavy music, gives a drive and power to riffs that I feel was missing before - Is it just me, or are drummers nowadays insanely talented? Maybe they always have been and they just play differently now. The other day I heard Spiritbox and Sleep Token back-to-back and I noted how sick the drumming was. And I'm in the minority but I can't stand Greta Van Fleet.

  15. I have zero interest in Barbie but I love Greta Gerwig. We might go see it just for her.
  16. I don't know what genre this is. Math rock? Shoegaze? I like it. And some nice variety in vocals from Invent Animate, not just straight up screaming.
  17. My deadhead friend dragged me to a Dead show with Herring on guitar and Joan Osborne on vocals. Not my type of music but Herring was outstanding. I've only ever seen Trey on youtube and to my ears he's nowhere near Herring. Maybe Trey is better for that type of music which as I said is not my thing.
  18. I'm late to Sleep Token. I haven't loved everything they've done, but this I love. I hope they steer more in this direction.
  19. Interesting list but not terrible. I will say this, a lot awesome guitar players make terrible music. There's all sorts of torture I would endure before being forced to listen to Dream Theater. Even EJ's music I have to be in a certain mood for. I think Dime is one of the few shredders whose music I like.
  20. I'm thinking about going to see BMTH. But they're touring with Fall Out Boy, who I'm not all that crazy about.
  21. Nope. Straight up fixed gear. I'm hoping knees hold up. On my first ride I was granny pedaling down any negative incline. It was terrifying yet fun at the same time.
