  1. Note the date. Ana said what I was going to say.
  2. No world wars since May 8, 1945. Just a thought. Al Franken says hi. Seems like this is good for health insurance companies. Or, am I missing something? The gum gum hasn’t seemed effective at stopping the political right’s agenda, recently.
  3. “Virtue signaling” is code for “fuck virtuous behavior.” Though, Eddie, I don’t believe you meant to use the phrase as such.
  4. Intestinal distress. That’s my go to explanation of rando driver menace.
  5. Whiffed? I was unaware that word also meant getting on all fours and spreading buttcheeks.
  6. Predictable post. I mean, why would you discuss whether a political tactic would further the goals of the political left, when you can condemn the only political entity which includes folks that espouse those beliefs? You imply the Rs aren’t rigging their primary, through omission, Mr Both Sides. Continue throating, silently, the authoritarian tactics of the leader of the right. I
  7. Tough to argue with this. OTOH, we might consider gathering the data point about the outcome of a Democratic candidate who moves to the left for the general election.
  8. Hookers and blow, I’d guess. Just a guess. He has no value, or principle, that abides.
  9. Fuck religious extremists. Despicable humans, no matter their faith.
  10. I am not advocating for futility, nor bloodshed. However, the freedom to proclaim that the US military swears an oath to the Constitution, and not an individual, as well as the freedom to condemn so called Christians who take action that weakens, or negates, that document for which their faith demands allegiance, is exactly the hill upon which to die. And that hill is my doorstep, unless a hill presents itself from which I can defend others.
  11. My BIL, God rest his soul, gave me a copy of Don Quixote, in Spanish. I still admire that optimism.
  12. I say this with respect. Don’t bend the knee. I assume most of y’all saw the threat to our constitution years, if not decades, ago. When considering this threat, did y’all foresee that naked buffoonery would be the tip of the spear? Does idiocracy shock and awe? Our nation is worth defending with the full measure of devotion.
  13. Say what you want about Arkansas, but they do have a pigsty on wheels.
  14. Sure looked like a face mask, but it couldn’t have been. No flag. No comment. Carry on.
  15. Most of this country had already checked out. How’s that working out for us?
  16. A surly poster on some thread mentioned the Century Trilogy, by Ken Follett, so I read them. Certainly, the past still echoes today. What struck me most is the importance communist Russia placed on education. The intentional dumbing down of public education in the USA is infuriating.
  17. I am pessimistic, since Nov 5th. Most people who pay attention are pessimistic. So, this post’s focus is on the positive. The opposition is still fact based, and the majority is not. Reality will have its say. I don’t know which fool called the claim that turnip’s cabinet and staffers had predominantly cautioned against voting turnip, saying he was unfit for office, “fake news.” It could have been batshit @Balcones, it could have been the anti-Christian @Frank Drebin. Doesn’t matter, as both are going through life blindly, and neither will bother to learn what is true. Might have been posted, but for the record, the claim is factual. I have cited apneas and pbs. https://apnews.com/article/former-trump-officials-criticize-2024-e202861911ab37cadfcf058b5b163fb9 https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/former-trump-officials-are-among-the-most-vocal-opponents-of-returning-him-to-the-white-house The screw will turn, and when it does, job number one is divesting the oligarchs from their power, through confiscatory tax policy.
  18. Thanks. Both my wife and I enjoyed this video of him, at work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MV0gJjYmrfs
  19. Anyone know the name of the metal smith in Pampa?
  20. I think religion plays a more important part than philosophy. The political philosophy of Texas has already determined that a human life is not worth the value of lawn furniture, after sundown. As for religion, there is no consensus. Striking the right to privacy, outlawing abortion in those states that have done so, is the establishment of a national religion, which goes against our values. Striking an established right does so, too. The cost of raising children compared with that of lawn furniture isn’t apples to apples. Any argument that the parent(s) assumed that cost goes out the window in cases of rape or incest.
  21. I believe the more moderate the church, the less they push back of the shittery. With exceptions, such as my friend Father Susan’s Episcopal church in St Paul. The more devout the church, again, imo, the more push back.
  22. There are thousands of churches in the USA whose congregations do not embrace the values @Brisketexan (rightfully) decries.
