  1. We have devices and schedules ready for both kids who are in elementary. AISD kicks off tomorrow. I figure the first week will just be getting acclimated to the schedule and getting users familiar with the technology. Hopefully the following week results in actually learning. Or I could be completely delusional and this whole AISD remote learning for elementary kids is going to be a disaster. Who knows.
  2. My lawn would really appreciate some rain.
  3. The university can say whatever they want. Parties are still going to happen on Riverside.
  4. That’s interesting. Does HEB maintain corporate staff in Austin today that are separate from the San Antonio HQ?
  5. Sounds like Pacha on Burnet isn’t going to make it.
  6. Per LATimes article, Cronyn is responsible for the provisions limiting employer liabilities for COVID in the workplace in the GOP economic proposal. ‘‘Tis shameful
  7. I got the email. The scramble for the fall semester begins. Can’t decide if we just write off school till January and make other plans...or keep waiting/hoping for a miracle.
  8. Props to you for gardening and composting in 100 degree summer. I am done till cooler weather arrives.
  9. We did this...to Estes Park Colorado.
  10. ^^^ That should make for a solid news headline.
  11. What would be the process for Puerto Rico to become a state? Is it as simple as legislation passed by the Congress?
  12. I am happy with the 0.8 inches per the LCRA rain gauge.
  13. I am in AISD. I think my kids need to get back to school from a social perspective. If they only go 2 days a week, so be it. However I want to try and form a small cohort with their friends. Get a tutor for the days they are not at the physical school. Basically have several sets of parents fund the tutor. The kids are not going to get enough educational content being at home 3 days a week.
  14. I always see people in the Cabo bob’s on Anderson. I would be surprised if it closed.
  15. Based on the story on website for sky cinema which could very well be 1 sided...with landlord seeking another operator...I would struggle to think an operator wants to take on the risk of that rent currently. The location was very nice the 1 time we went...but If the landlord fails to find a new operator...I wouldn’t have any sympathies for the landlord.
  16. First batch of blueberries started coming in this week. Harvesting 10 to 15 a day. The earliest blackberries came in...all 2 of them. The canes are loaded with hundreds more so I am excited about that. First small grape Tomatoes are ripe. Harvesting a couple a day. Tore out all the kale and spinach remnants last week. Bugs were getting them and I wanted to make space. Planted some bush beans in their place. Watermelon and cantaloupe vines are really starting to sprawl, and I have flower blooms, but no signs of germinating fruit yet. Meyer lemon tree is loaded with tiny fruit...it continues to self prune and drops a couple of tiny fruit every couple days. Miho satsuma did not bloom this year...so on track for no mandarins. I am on track to get zero peaches, plums, or pluots this year. I blame it on the lack of chilling hours in Austin this year, though I haven’t checked the actual count for this last winter. I had pomegranate blooms and small fruit budding but I changed some plans and dig up both my pomegranate trees. They are young and I decided they needed a different spot in the landscape with more space. So I chopped back the trees, dug them up, and replanted them. So assuming they survive the transplant maybe I will get pomegranates in another 2 years.
  17. Devil’s advocate...if you wait to purchase oil for SPR until crude pricing goes lower...say below $10 for WTI...doesn’t the government get a better deal?
  18. Our PPP loan from Chase funded today according to my colleague. So that’s good...
  19. Yeah. I have a mortgage...most homeowners do.
  20. The checks are intended as a stopgap to keep co summers able to spend. Some may need to buy groceries or pay the rent. I am looking at backyard projects...I just don’t have time(too busy at work). From a macro perspective it doesn’t really matter what you spend it on...it should help maintain the economy. Saving the stimulus check...is potentially very good on the micro level for boosting an individual’s safety net...but doesn’t achieve the intended goal of keeping the economy functioning.
  21. I want to have someone build me pergola for my back patio. and a grape arbor for my side yard.
  22. I keep poking at him...trying to convey the urgency...but I can’t force him to do anything. We are at the same reporting level but I have a different portfolio of responsibilities. I have been focused on keeping the train rolling the last 3 weeks. I had the joy of getting IT to build a virtual call center in 3 days over 1 weekend right after Trump’s evening speech. Our head of the call center had the joy of retraining his entire staff of agents to work remote on a new call center software platform in less than 1 day.
  23. We do almost all our banking with Chase. Our VP of Finance seems to like them. I have been pestering him all week based on updates I see in this thread. Feedback today from him was...yeah maybe chase could help us next week. Neither Chase nor he seem to be in any hurry and it’s pissing me off as I continue to read updates from Troph.
  24. Fed continues to take decisive action
  25. US equity futures shit the end on the open.
