Except for Some potential on May 30th, I guess the rain is over for the summer in Austin.

Markets still falling like whoa
It’s interesting that with S&P down another 75 points today, VIX is still only at 21. I would have expected a higher VIX.

Any ideas on where in Austin I could find a general 15-15-15 or 13-13-13 granular fertilizer for fruit trees? I am not seeing anything at Lowe’s/Home Depot on their websites. Tractor supply seems to have some but nothing is showing in stock on their website for the Cedar Park store.

Markets still falling like whoa
Markets seem to completely ignore what Trump says AND does. This bull market is going to have to see sustained downturn before it gets scared. And as long as Fed doesn’t resume the path of raising interest rates....the party lives on.

Wanted to put down an application of lawn fertilizer this past weekend. All the stores around me were sold out of milorganite. So I went with a liquid application of Hasta Gro Lawn by Medina. Never used it before. I am interested to see how it goes.

Texas teacher pay raise.
Out of curiosity, how is the state paying for this? Will this money he paid directly to the school district by the state? Is it a 1 time annual payment or is it spread out ?

In following up to my above post, my yard is completely overrun with crabgrass. It’s weird seeing as it’s only February and I put down preemergent in October. I have a St Augustin lawn with large mature pecan trees. I have decided to avoid anything with atrazine as a post emergent herbicide. I am looking at buying Tenacity (Mesotrione) which appears to be one of the few post emergent to control crabgrass in St Augustin. Anyone have experience with Tenacity?- 2023 Republican Government Shutdown: Same Shit, Same Story
All right. Let’s see the terms of this negotiated deal. Let’s see both sides of Congress pass the legislation. And then let’s watch Trump sign it.- 2023 Republican Government Shutdown: Same Shit, Same Story
If Congress came to a compromise and passed it and then Trump vetoed, sure Trump would own the next shutdown. Congress could fund every department except DHS and then continue to negotiate on DHS. But if they just do nothing, that isn’t a winning position. Hell, just pass another CR to avoid the shutdown.- 2023 Republican Government Shutdown: Same Shit, Same Story
Nothing to be gained from another shutdown. If congress can’t pass legislation to keep the government open, that is where the blame will fall.- 2023 Republican Government Shutdown: Same Shit, Same Story

Where are our free market supporters? Remove the law and let the market sort it out. We should have laws to boost private enterprise profits. Besides, if I realize I am out of liquor on a Sunday morning, I should be able to buy it. Even better would be if Amazon Prime Now could deliver it within 2 hours.- Trump's Trade War
It’s clear that China’s trade volumes with the US are shrinking. China’s GDP growth rate is falling and equity valuations are falling. However the article clearly states the US is suffering as well. US exports to China have fallen more than imports so the net value has worsened. It appears US GDP growth rate is also slowing and equity valuations have flat lined. Maybe China does roll over and implements trade reforms to protect US Intellectual property and China also engages in mandatory purchases of US exports to balance the trade deficit (something that we don’t even need). And then maybe we return to GDP growth rates we were producing prior to the trade war. I would posit a more likely outcome is a continued stalemate and escalation of the trade war. This likely would lead to even further economic slowing or even contraction. And maybe China will continue to suffer greater economic loss relative to the US, but that doesn’t mean the US is “winning”.- 2023 Republican Government Shutdown: Same Shit, Same Story
