Sorry for being flip in my response to this, Simplicity.   war is a racket. it sucks and innocent people die.

on 2nd and 3rd look i think trump shouldn't have torn up the deal.  should have exposed and extracted the pork from it, but this is israel and trump's "handlers" (as hugo put it) working to start a fucking war.

Thank you for reflecting and letting us know you've changed your opinion on this situation. Seriously.

  2. Still not sold on anyone from the Cavs consistently stepping up besides LeBron.  Love is playing well but I think he can be neutralized by Boston defense. Same with Korver and the rest of that ragtag roster.

Stevens is a great coach. I'd let LeBron get his and just focus on stopping everyone else.  Think it will be a great series and I'm sure LBJ will make me look stupid, but Boston in 7.

  3. Completely understand why people expect Golden State to win the series, especially if they've watched the Rockets play the first two rounds.

But Houston should play up to their competition this time around  Utah is a really solid defensive team, and I see the Rockets playing with more offensive rhythm in the WCF.  Golden State has the ability to lock down on defense, but they are not consistent at all.  They know they are the best team, and they play like it with casual arrogance and no real sense of urgency most of the time.

I think rotations and adjustments early on in the series will be crucial for Houston to win. Kerr makes some questionable rotation decisions. There've been times KD, Steph, and Draymond are all on the bench, and it's basically just the Klay show with 4 other guys out there. Rockets need to take advantage if those situations arise.  Personally, I would have one of their Big 3 on the court at ALL times, but I hope Kerr keeps doing that shit.

For the Rockets, I really think Ryan Anderson needs to get playing time.  When he's on the court it really spreads out the floor and keeps guys like KD and Draymond from being able to help defend as they can't sag off of RA.

Nene should only play if Javale gets minutes, and I think both coaches would be fine leaving them both on the bench for most, if not all of the game.  Both teams should be running with their small lineups, which means we need to maximize the amount of shooters on the floor. I think Gerald Green should only get meaningful PT if we're desperate for some instant offense/hero ball and he's feeling it. Otherwise keep his minutes down.

I don't think Houston should focus too much defensively on KD. He's unguardable and will get his points no matter what.  Key is to try and slow down Klay and Steph.  If you told me right Klay will a "great" series, I'd say we're absolutely doomed. He is the X factor IMO.

The best thing the US could have done to effect regime change was to continue the deal.  The people realized the islamist regime stole all of the money the US released.  Before yesterday, the people blamed the regime for the problems, which helped to bolster the reformists who want the corruption out of the government.  Slow secularization and democratization would result in a lasting friendly government.  Overthrowing one bad regime to install another one won't. The hardliners are celebrating the end of the deal because it shows that they were right.

I'm quoting this again for the pro-Trump people who are happy we left the deal

A positive of the release of sanctions was the message to the Iranian people that WE WILL NOT STAND IN YOUR WAY to prosper in the future.  It was proof to the people that their OWN government was to blame if they didn't prosper.  Then in late December 2017 they had massive protests that lasted for over a week. First they protested the economic polices of their own government, then they started railing on the theocratic regime and their Supreme Leader.  FUCKING PROGRESS, MAN!

Now, all of that is gone. Sanctions back on. Hell, we'll tack on some more. America is the enemy. Rinse and repeat.

  5. I'm just glad the Trump administration has full faith in Netanyahu's "evidence" and opinion. He totally nailed it the first time.

The deal only "mothballed" Iran's nuclear ambition for 15 years. That's assuming they comply with both the spirit and letter of the deal. What Israel achieved with their intelligence coup shows Iran not only has not complied with the spirit of the deal but never had any intention of complying with the letter of the deal.

So you want to continue with a deal that you know the other side has, is and will continue to cheat? That is sheer lunacy.

Please provide the evidence Israel found that proves Iran was not complying with the 2015 deal.

Sohrab Ahmari is a former WSJ columnist who writes for Commentary magazine. He is also a fellow Iranian-American who is a must read, especially involving Iran. I leave you with this excellent piece that he has written.

Did you actually read it?  It's just a short hit piece on Obama with absolutely zero substance. Could have been written by Joe fucking Plumber and you'd never know the difference.

  8. "The body of this man Trump will turn to dust and his corpse will be fed on by snakes and insects, while the Islamic Republic continues to stand," Khamenei said in remarks delivered to schoolteachers and carried by state Iranian media outlets.

My parents are refugees of the revolution too.  I agree with everything you said.

The islamists hijacked the revolution.  The risk is that the MEK or some other fringe group who is worse than the islamists hijacks the next one.  A policy of regime change only works if you have someone internally who can lead an opposition.  Otherwise, you are swapping one a-hole for another.  All those people are dead or in jail in Iran.  The failson of the shah is not going to survive long enough to consolidate power.  The MEK is universally hated in Iran.

On withdrawing from the deal:  This isn't some grand plan to get a better nuke deal in place.  These are the first steps in setting up a pretext for the war that the neocons have been salivating over for decades.  Right now, the EU is the only thing standing between this situation blowing up (forgive the pun) into a full scale shooting war.  If the EU is forced to back out because of secondary sanctions, then Iran will start up its program again.  Then Israel will conduct airstrikes in Iran with its new overfly rights granted by the Saudis (who might join in the fun) because Iran can't have a nuke (I actually agree with that position).  The Iranians will strike back, and the US will be forced to act.  I'm sure Bolton's power point presentation is a bit more detailed.

Any escalation in conflict, and especially the involvement in the US, will disenfranchise the entire population.  The hardliners in government will solidify their position.  The only way the US will get rid of them at that point is a full on ground invasion.  Iran has mandatory conscription.  So everyone in the country has some military training.  This will be bloodier that Iraq.

Great post, and the bolded text is particularly on point.

If you're posting this thinking Trump did the right thing because "look, they hate us!", you're wrong.  Dotard just gave these hardliners the biggest gift. They're fucking loving this development.   Instead of these assholes rightly getting the majority of the blame, now they can try to shift the people's anger back to America.

Jazz have a solid nucleus, they need health and for Gobert and Ingles not to be douches. Favors is a FA and Exum is due an extension,  but the rest of their core is signed for a couple more seasons.  They'd be better off opening up the offense with the young athletes they can throw at people.

Agreed, they should be very solid next year.  Was really unimpressed with Gobert overall though. He is a defensive force but doesn't appear to have a high basketball IQ or killer instinct.

  12. We'll see. I don't have much confidence in RA right now either, but D'Antoni  typically prefers to bench Nene vs. GS.  Anderson averaged almost 30 minutes a game vs. the Warriors in the regular season.
