  1. Yep. Feb. 6. I don't know about the rest of that. I was responding to the idea that it was "weeks" not whatever it might have to do with ATC employees. Just a date (next week). My friend who got the letter (DOJ) got it on Tuesday. Not sure if your hearing about it coincided with actual receipt or they sent out this mass digital resign blast in segments (truly). I doubt any ATC workers took the bait. But in my friend's case, it was a short deadline period and, suffice it to say, it hasn't improved her morale. Making federal employees feel worthless doesn't make them better employees. But that wasn't my point. But maybe it should have been.
  2. We need to start a parents thread, because Brisket's stories and post like yours are churning up all sorts of interesting stories and memories about my dad that I'd like to share, but I don't want to hijack this thread. Now, having said that, . . . my dad was older when he had me at 63 in 1973. I had one sister (11 years older) and 3 half brothers (around my mom's age). There was a 30 year gap between my dad and my mom. I revered him, occasionally feared him (irrationally), and loved him. I got 16 years, but boy were they good. The only time he laid a finger on me was when I mouthed off to him---in a fishing boat no less--and I got two fingers on the chin with a warning to not ever talk that way to him again. I didn't. He was eulogized by a methodist pastor (and golfing buddy) as "The Turk of Manly Men." He also spent a lot of time in Argentina in the 50s when his company was building a pipeline down there. So I'm wondering if his and Brisket's dad's paths crossed. I still have some Gaucho water color paintings he brought back from Argentina, which he had in his office, in my office now. He was a pilot and was really proud of the fact that he flew his plane over the Andes down to Argentina during those times. /okay. So I threadjacked a bit. Sorry //I've had a chance to read Brisket's legal writing in the past and have seen him argue a case on appeal. He's very good---to that point: it happened over twenty years ago and I still have a decent memory of it all (once he put two and two together on it for me a few years back).
  3. And it's a February 6 deadline.
  4. This song is beautiful, but I can't listen to it because it causes me to become depressed for some reason. But Charlotte Gainsbourg is famous (model) in France. Anyway . . .
  5. "That's surreal."
  6. That's right. The voice of Lois Midge's parents are fantastic too.
  7. The water reportedly in the mid 30s. That would be an absolute miracle. But I'll take it, if true.
  8. Just pulled this from a reddit aviation thread. https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=a97753,ae313d

When you say not fussy, just know that all of these tables recommended are going to require you to set the counterweight, tracking force for the cartridge, and antiskate (possibly tracking alignment). As the former owner of a Sony PLXxxx, I recall that those tables didn't have any of that. It's not too much of a learning curve, and you want a table with these features at a minimum. But just know that there will be some set up and occasional adjustment involved. Nothing you can't handle though.
  10. Or people who hung onto the DM-2.
  11. 3-meat plate and two sides. Best guess is a half-pound of each meat. Heck of a deal. And a lot less expensive and better food than my recent trip to the Waco outpost of Terry Blacks. edit: $31.95 plus tax. https://austin.stilesswitchbbq.com/austin-brentwood-stiles-switch-bbq-food-menu
  12. Same. Still think about him every day. But it's almost always the good times at this point.
  13. I always hesitate to order beef ribs unless I'm splitting them because I have a hard time eating much else. Last time was at Louie Mueller's, which was excellent. That was a good thing, because the brisket was sad. Edit to add that the beef rib at LaBBQ was next level great as well.
  14. The day I ate there, the did pretty good everything. My tray from earlier this month. No wait. $36
  15. Stiles Switch offered that on my ribs when I was there earlier this month. I equivocated, and the server said, how about "just a whisper" of sauce. I'm here to say that that is the correct answer, at least at Stiles Switch, just a hint of sweet vinegar.
  16. This didn't have much thought put into it. I imagine Elon gave them a 30 second pitch, said it worked at Twitter, got authorization to set up this system to collect email addresses for all federal employees, and sent an identical letter. The "put 'Resign' in the subject field says enough about how well thought-through this who thing was. It will yield some resignations though. They don't care about legality or lawsuits. That's par for the course for this lot.
  17. Old post, but I love BKF on ceramic coated cast iron or stainless steel. But on cast iron or carbon steel, you can't beat chain mail. Go easy and you won't disturb the seasoning to the point that a little oil and heat won't restore it. I only use BKF on seasoned pans if I want to strip the seasoning.
  18. @Brisketexan Your Dad sounds like he was an amazing man, who loved his family. From your description, it sounds like he did it right. May he rest in peace and may you and your family have peace and love in remembering him.
  19. 4??!? Mine does it in half a crank. If I cranked it four times, my house would look like the end of Real Genius but with pepper..
  20. It certainly fits with this. Federal employees got a really spammy looking email to provide their email addresses for some government wide notification system connected to, you guessed it, Elmo. My friend sent it to the IT department to confirm it wasn't spam. No, this spammy looking bullshit that helps build the spam machine is YOUR federal government. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5111199-federal-employees-sue-opm-email/
  21. 3. When they complain, claim sovereign immunity. 4. Grift
  22. Trump, a federal employee, got this letter too, right? I think he should take the deal!
  23. With a job market flooded with federal workers no less.
  24. Friend who is a DOJ attorney said her office just got a slew of these emails. She's like, fuck you, fire me.
  25. Or, it's a smoke screen to distract everyone while he empty's the government's coffers. Or, he believes that rich people should be able to do whatever they want and tearing down a society to build another up that caters to that notion. In any event, the worse he hurts people and causes desperation to set in, the more likely someone with nothing to lose is going to resort to violet retaliation, either against him or the people in power who support him. I'm not saying I support that sort of response. I do not. But I can see how it would happen, and given how brazenly he is going about things, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened sooner rather than later. And, with that, I suppose I should join Brisketexan and others on the ledge.
