  1. Don't get out of Taylor much for BBQ (not that we eat the cue around here much, I usually just make my own) but the wife didn't feel like working on the yard today so suggested a mini BBQ crawl. Since the boy lives off of S. Congress and Oltorf, suggested he meet us at Moreno Barbecue. A friend that lives a few blocks away had recommended it, and I always pass it when we go to Space for our band rehearsals, so decided to venture south today. Did not disappoint. Hipster quotient relatively minor, will check it out again sometime (although wife was excited to see Conan's across the street, so we've already made plans to hit that the next time we're down that way...). Wrapped up with a few brews at St. Elmo, all in all a good day.
  2. I'm almost a little disappointed (just a little) that the premier Monday is the first 2 hours. Of course I want to binge on 2 hours of BCS, but that just means it's going to end that much sooner. I'm perfectly fine with letting this season stretch itself out.
  3. Let's try BRAD! Brad Brad bo bad....
  4. I watched a Frontline episode on the Liberty City Seven called “In the Shadow of 9/11”, very similar situation, very different outcome. I wonder why? Can’t quite put my finger on it…
  5. FYI, this is the performance from 2015 that is mentioned in the first article I linked above...

  8. Stevie Wonder says hey.
  9. Ha! Same. My wife (gf at time) was working at the Erwin Center and got some passes to an advance screening. I was like, "Seriously? A fucking Bruce Willis movie?". Wound up having a few drinks before showtime then had a blast, the whole theater was going nuts. Fun night. I also like The Last Man Standing, it bombed but I kind of dig it. Gangsters in the middle of nowhere Texas, Christopher Walken, Bruce Dern, David Patrick Kelly. OK in my book.
  10. Damn. Best to him. LINK
  11. Didn't the basic same thing happen in Round Rock? Somebody complained because they heard that the schools were lowering the height of the tables in the cafeteria so that kids could lean over the table and eat like an animal without using their hands...
  12. He’s moving in with KKL?
  13. What a sack of shit.
  14. Sorry to branch off on a tangent, but all this analysis reminded me of this very underrated movie, and it also shows Brando could have a sense of humor about it all..
  15. Mmmm, Rachel Fury..... wait, you said something?
  16. I will never mock anyone's musical tastes, rock on whatever you like! I'm a fucking music sponge, my top artists are the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Johnny Cash, Beach Boys, the Cars, 10cc, XTC, ELO, Elton John, Old 97s, but appreciate everything from easy listening pop (Simon & Garfunkel, Carpenters, Singers Unlimited, Manhattan Transfer, ABBA) to disco (Bee Gees, Kc & Sunshine Band) to funk (Ohio Players, EWF, P/Funk, Gap Band) to Motown to art/punk/new wave (Laurie Anderson, Black Flag, Chrome, Joy Division, Nick Lowe, Joe Jackson, Brian Eno, Robert Fripp) to prog (Genesis, Yes, King Crimson) to classical (all the stuff I played in high school, Drovak, Beethoven, Wagner, Holst, to wind composers like W. Francis McBeth, Granger, Claude T. Smith, the Eastman Wind Ensemble) to Maynard Ferguson to classic country (pretty much everything up to 1990 or so, and then new traditionalists like Dale Watson) to polka (I play in a Czech polka band and also host an internet polka show, so I have around 7000 polkas and waltzes in my library) to album rock, heavy metal, hair bands. I love it all, just depends on what mood I am in. I have more music than I could ever listen to, I'll be 56 in a couple of weeks and am trying to listen to at least one album a day, just to go through it all at least one more time (hopefully not, but hey, who knows...). So whatever you like, enjoy it, anybody who doesn't like it can fuck right off.
  17. I’m a pop music super nerd, so of course my first thought is trying to hear how the ELO/Olivia Newton-John song sounds like Close Encounters..
  18. True, and I never knew Kurt Russell was such a good ball player growing up.
  19. There is NOTHING in Rice's Crossing anymore, save a few grain silos. It would have been fine, both the Taylor and Elgin tornadoes were nowhere near there.
  20. This is due northeast about 3/4 mile from the last pictures, intersection of CR 346 and 347
  21. Some pics from the Taylor Press, this is about a quarter mile north of the intersection of Hwy 95 and Hwy 29 that goes west to Georgetown, just north of Circleville. The last picture is the house that they were showing on KXAN where the storm spotters stopped at, it is right across the street from the storage place.
