  1. Tough call. Is this before or after tax? Does the $4,000 adjust with inflation? Probably take the $2M and I would invest half of it in low risk mutual funds and then take the other half over to my friend Asadulah who works in securities.
  2. Worked 10 days straight (including an all nighter) with another 2 days to go. Had a Juice Force (9.5% ABV) followed by a few fingers of Talisker and now with some Johnny Walker green. Probably have another whisky before I go to bed. Decisions decisions. And yes, I need to upgrade my whisky game, but tonight is quantity over quality baby.
  3. It’s been decades since I left Austin, but I remember some fun times at Maggie Mae’s even after college. But by then I spent most of my time in the warehouse district… Do those places still exist?
  4. Does it have to be natural causes? Because it would be just as great of their death was unnatural… *wink* *wink* *nod* *nod*
  5. Sitting at a shade under $34. Down 9.5% for the day. It's only going to get worse.
  6. I nearly had holy shit moment yesterday. On my commute to LA, there is a narrow tunnel with sidewalks on both sides. There was a homeless guy who bent over to do something and I had to swerve a little so I wouldn't turn his melon into mush. He pulled back right after I drove past him. I think he also had a pant-shitting moment on his end.
  7. Yeah, except you can close "windows" on Jarvis.
  8. I dropped my Apple pencil and broke the plastic tip. I replaced the tip, just the tip, but the damn thing isn't working. It looks like else broke and now it's not working. I can ask the company for another one, but since I was the one broke it, I don't mind using a faux gen 2 Apple pencil. Any recommendations?
  9. A day late... but was the eclipse the only news story yesterday? I was listening to NPR during my commute to LA, and they mentioned it at least 10+ times in the span of 45 minutes. F'n annoying.
  10. IMO, this best describes my thought on Breitling watch dials.
  11. FIFY [edit] Damnit, atomheartbevo already beat me to it.
  12. In the US, what can be called “Vodka” has a specific set of limitations as defined by the Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB): (a)Class 1; neutral spirits or alcohol. “Neutral spirits” or “alcohol” are distilled spirits produced from any material at or above 190° proof, and, if bottled, bottled at not less than 80° proof. (1) “Vodka” is neutral spirits so distilled, or so treated after distillation with charcoal or other materials, as to be without distinctive character, aroma, taste, or color. So yeah, as long as those gallon jugs meet the specification, they're vodka. If you have time, listen to this podcast. If you don't have time to listen to the entire thing, start around the 6:50 mark. https://www.npr.org/sections/money/2018/02/23/588346329/episode-826-the-vodka-proof In short, a lot of vodka brands basically buy bilk alcohol from a company called Ultra Pure and add water.
  13. $6 burger doesn't exist anymore. Even their most basic burger is $6.99.
  14. I paid almost $10 for a Carl’s Jr. Superstar (double cheeseburger) last week. $20/hour is no joke.
  15. WTF is up with that thumb?
  16. There's a Japanese restaurant near Mammoth Lakes (ski resort area) called Gojira. I didn't know what it mean until we went in and saw all these posters The food sucked. Don't go there.
  17. Elvis is alive? In New York City?
  18. My uneducated guess is it’s like opening the rear windows in your car, and you get the buffeting discomfort in your ear up in front.
  19. Didn't have time. Cooked breakfast for the family, and now on the interview prep meeting that started at 8.
  20. Bidet with a warm toilet seat.
  21. 7:00. Finally done. Fuck me and the rest of the day.
  22. It's 3:50AM, and I am writing / re-writing part of a proposal that I was assigned 14 hours ago. I told the marketing manager I'd get it done by midnight, but here I still am. The person who originally wrote it did a decent job, but language was too "flowery" for a construction proposal, and he missed some sections due to inexperience. The fucked up part is I found out I'm part of the interview team when on Wednesday 5-6PM, I received 5 meeting invites, one of which is a 6 hour interview prep on Sunday. In LA. Of course I can't say no, since they listed me as the cost lead without telling me... I'll be a fucking zombie, but just needed to vent because this is bullshit. Oh, and one of my project leads is out sick, so I ran a few meetings in his absence. Working on 3 projects concurrently (for probably the nth time) sucks.
