  1. I don’t think anyone signs this winter for $30m annual if the contract isn’t a one year deal.
  2. I’ve long thought Cooper’s was disappointing and the Lockhart bunch overrated but I would include Louie Muellers on that list, at all. They are still sublime on every visit. Maybe I just love heavy pepper.
  3. No, though I understand he told the coaches he wasn’t interested in playing at Texas. Obviously circumstances can change but that’s wildly different than what the Roach and Nahlin/Gerry are saying.
  4. Take it for what it’s worth but the word coming from a source on the team side is that the two nights of parties that Arch attended were a lot more material towards a successful visit on this with him than anything football related. Now for the bad news-Evans is out on Texas regardless of what the $9.95’s are saying.
  5. I’m parroting this from Toadvine on IT, in I’m repeating this from Toadvine on IT in case he’s creeping over here, but I think the revelations of the post Charlie years is that we lack the horses, regardless of development or coaching insufficiency (whereas the prevailing view is “look at the recruiting rankings?!?! It’s just that Charlie can’t coach, errr…no, wunderkind Herman can’t coach, uhhh….I guess Sark and the “money is not a limitation” assistant coach dream team can’t coach). To Victory88’s point, if we can’t sell Evan Stewart an offense that produces Worthy as a 4 star freshman the whole recruiting staff needs to be sent to kindergarten level sales training. “Hey Evan-this dude is getting 90% of our offensive production because we have NO ONE else and he’s at least sea-worthy. You’re a quarter second faster in the 40, a better dancer and have like a million more tik-tok followers. If we can get him 230 yards and a couple of touchdowns as a freshman in a rivalry game YOU will be a #1 draft pick and replacing Nick Cannon as the host of The Masked Singer before you graduate.”
  6. I think you think the recruits are watching the same thing we are. Banks doesn’t give a shit because he crossed 3rd choice UT off his list a long time ago and he’s already working on his signature Nike shoe with Uncle Phil. Campbell was rooting for both teams and a close loss or close win isn’t a difference maker for either team as long as Flood can live off his Bama highlights. Dewberry I can’t make presumptions about as I was sure he would have committed to Aggie when all his Houston buddies did. Again, if we shit the bed against OSU the back to back losses will have consequences as we lose control of the narrative. I just think this is a weird year where we’re not in a dogfight for many of the same prospects as OU out of north or east Texas.
  7. Besides that it’s expensive, of course.
  8. What’s the general opinion on the Kentucky Owl Wisdom bourbon batch 11 that appears to have been released recently?
  9. I don’t see this outcome as a negative for recruiting at all. Lots of positives to take away from it. That said, if we lose again next week…
  10. I’m still waiting to visit one of the CSR affiliated lounges that doesn’t feel like a strip club with the lights on. Plus they are always crowded with the travelers that think free food is preferable to something a little more delicious (not hating but seems like a lot of Indians and Asians).
  11. Personally I think it’s more likely Quicken collapses on itself. They are getting beat on pricing by some of their online chop shop competitors and I and my ilk (the local lenders) beat them on service. They may be left without a niche, which might explain poring resources into correspondent lending and acting as a broker channel.
  12. Wasn’t the campaign rumor that he was hitting Hope Hicks? That dude has game if so.
  13. Not that I really care to defend Abbott, but your continued repetition of this idea seems misplaced-I would be shocked if Perry did other than pander to the loonies and protect his right flank.
  14. Yeah, I don’t know why you’re expecting the Chamber of Commerce to restore moderation among the GOP. Abbott clearly isn’t governing like he expects their support to be sustaining. It’s ally with the crazies or else.
  15. That's half a billion misspent then because the trailer makes it look like a fan film full of LARP'ers.
  16. @RGBIIII'm in for $600 (year upfront) if you'll pm instructions on how to commit and/or pay.
  17. Just finished season 1 last night and I’ll recommend it (also, didn’t even try the English version, subtitles for the win). I saw the film the series is based on during its theatrical release and the series is not nearly as depressing (way too much killing of children in the film to feel anything other than sorrow). it’s interesting because I’ve switched to this after finding the characters on White Lotus uniformly repellant and Gomorra’s are all pretty malicious.
  18. I’ve said as much on this thread already but this is what I don’t understand about Abbott-Trump was a case study that these rubes don’t understand power, they just get excited by someone in the PERFORMANCE of wielding it. you don’t have to actually do anything, just be really noisy about it and blame the other guy, then let local officials operate unencumbered.
  19. Or put fire walls between them. You could build Hesco barriers, too
  20. I almost lost a jumbo VA loan to Quicken last week because Quicken quoted the borrower a rate .5% less than what I quoted. What they failed to explain to the borrower was that they were charging him $5k for it.
  21. Jeez, I had no idea this place was so full of Mezzaluna partisans! I ate there probably once a month for a year because a business colleague favored it and tried a ton of items on their menu; at best it was average and at worst inedible. And yes, the hot waitress refused my advances but I’d like to think my taste buds have more integrity that that 🙂. I’ve also been politely rejected by a Justine’s server and continue to love dining there. Anyway, enough of the nostalgia wallowing and thanks to @sidis for bringing us back on topic.
  22. Also, I don’t think there was a time when Cafe Josie would have been considered a top 10 restaurant-it was always an under the radar option, at least when their menu was doing the Caribbean thing. Re: Jimmy-Mezzaluna’s food was well below that of Siena back when they would have been competitors. I think it was inferior to Asti, too, though they’ve been kind of up and down in terms of quality/reputation (of course, over 20 years who wouldn’t be?). Another favorite to take a date was Green Pastures-they had the best service in town back when service in Austin was broadly average or below.
