  1. if you are a 12 year old
  2. My best guess is he saying we are doing a lot of 2-gapping on the DL and not letting the DL loose.
  3. YEs, that guy. Famous for trusting his arm a bit too much. Going to be a long time until someone breaks his passes intercepted record. That said the one reason this offense is not a disaster has been Arch's ability to limit turnovers, despite a dirty pocket. It was a great throw, but just didnt love this decision on this play. One of those throws that when it works people go "oh my god" and when it does not they call the QB an idiot.
  4. I think the DB should have gotten a hand on it, but that is probably why he is a DB. That ball was about a foot low and why it was playable by the DB (as a general rule you want to be high in the back of the endzone), but that is a really tight window with a QB rolling left and throwing to the right. That is a really tough throw. Not a lot of QBs can make that throw. Totally respect the talent that it took to make the throw, but it is also one of those "No, YESSS!!!" throws for a coach.
  5. this is all true, but what is the reaction if he the DB makes the catch? Or if the ball is tipped up in the crowd and it is a turnover? I doubt anyone will say it is a good decision.
  6. it went through the defender's hands. That throw is a catch probably 10% of the time. Arch put the ball in danger in the redzone. It was one of his worst decisions. There is no way Sark is saying do that again to Arch. It was very Brett Favre-ish
  7. DT that can stop the run and rush the passer is a massive value. Only issue is a DT with passing rushing ability is a unicorn. If you have a bad DTs your defense is just dead. Having athletic DTs and DT depth is the difference from the haves and have nots in college football. You can deal with outside pressure as QB but it is near impossible to deal with inside pressure, ask Arch and Stroh. I think CB is over-rated. Smart offenses will find the weak link in the secondary. Manny isn’t Deion, but teams choose to attack elsewhere consistently vs Texas Edge is up there, but you have to get to pass situations for that to matter. You can manufacture pressure with movement LT is way more important in the NFL, than college
  8. TE position just needs to grow up. Lot of talent in that room. I love Townsend’s upside. Good to see Sark call a play for him, wish he had a little room to show off his athleticism on that
  9. That is a new thing. Used to be all about speed.
  10. The decline of the defense has been consistent and pervasive this season. The issues in the first half were on every level. PK defenses have for the most part been disciplined, if not a bit boring. Seeing a defense that busts coverages and struggles with run fits is the biggest surprise of the season.
  11. He just does not look good. His contact balance is poor. For a big guy he goes down on 1st contact way too much. Improvement and development are not always linear, so hopefully we see a different Baxter next year
  12. Thought Arch was very good. When I saw this live it was a Wow moment. After seeing the replay I said Arch got away with one. Of course this is the play Achilles picked
  13. It is week 11 and 0 feel for this team. I am not sure there is a result that would surprise me vs Arkansas. 1. Arkansas is bad on defense. They will come out with some goofy, junk defense to try and confuse Sark. Sark has said he hates when teams throw out a new defenses. They did it last year with success. Not sure if it works this year, but it will be good for some volatility 2. Arkansas can score. Green is killer from a clean pocket. He is not very good in a dirty pocket. Texas will need to get pressure on Green. They also need to clean up the edges, especially on the boundary. Back end needs to make the DE right. The confidence of the defense has hit a season low, people want to hang Akina in effigy, so this is probably the week the defense unfucks itself. Why? Because that just seems to be what Texas does this year. When you give up on a unit, they prove you wrong. When you start to believe, they crush you.
  14. who said I was complaining. I said we do not know the leeway that Sark gives players. IF you actually know please share.
  15. I do not think he played poorly by any measure. If you are saying he does not react well to getting hit constantly that is an interesting bar to judge a QB on. His ability to navigate a dirty pocket is one of his greatest strengths, if it wasnt I do not want to think about what the record looks like for Texas right now. I think the 1 turnover was actually a pretty solid result vs Georgia. Yes his feet were not set, probably because the left guard was driven back and he could not step into the throw. One of the big reasons Texas is not a a complete disaster on offense this year is the lack of turnovers from the QB position, which was a major issue last year. Did Manning make a couple of poor decisions? Of course, name me a QB that would not. I have watched HOF QBs look poorly under constant pressure. Your bar for solid QB play is not realistic.
  16. I am really not sure what people are watching. Arch was the 2nd highest graded played on the offense according to PFF. He got the shit kicked out of him again. He got 0 help from WRs (drops), OL, or running game. I guess people just look at box scores and do not care about the context. Not many Qbs put up numbers in that environment, let alone a 1st year starter. Anyone thinking that loss was a reflection of Arch's play just is not paying attention.
  17. that was protection audible. I do not think anyone knows how much leeway Sark allows on audibles. Is it only minor changes? Are there gameplan audibles vs certain looks? Does he have tags on some calls?
  18. I think that is a mistake. Comparing Ole Miss to Texas should insult you as a Texas fan. The expectation and resources are different at both schools. None of it means Kiffin would rip off 4 NCs, but lets not pretend winning 10 games at Texas is the same as winning 10 games at Ole Miss.
  19. i think he has a pretty solid floor. I like him as a college offensive mind over Sark. I think he would win 10 games pretty regularly at Texas, not sure a see him ripping off NCs. He would be fun though. Not sure how you look at FAU and say he was mid there. This is not a case of winning at Houston, where you are the biggest fish in a small puddle. Ill reiterate that I do not think Texas is changing coaches this year, because if I dont someone will pretend i am calling for Lane.
  20. He won C-USA in in 2017 and 2019. He hasnt won at Ole Miss, but they have not won the SEC since 1963. I have 0 expectations he is coming to Texas or that Sark is leaving but lets at least be honest about his resume.
  21. Arch spit the bit on that one. Took Arch about 4 weeks to get going. I think there is a clear difference between OSU and Florida games.
  22. OSU is 100% on Arch, though I do not think OSU wins that gaem with a better offensive performance. I think you saw a really conservative OSU offense, because they did not need to press. Florida comment is nuts. That game was 100% on Sark and his play calling. I cannot imagine a football fan that watched that game and didnt think Arch competed his ass off. Kid was getting almost every time he threw the ball.
  23. ???? That is what I am talking about. It is really concerning when a smart veteran like Taaffe is blowing assignments. I can understand if a WR that runs a 4.2 cooks him.
  24. but Texas did some odd blitzes. Watch the long Branch run. Texas blitzes, McDonald has Branch in man and the middle of the field is vacant. He is open in 2 steps and McDonald has zero chance to make a play. That is annoying, but what is really concerning is watching a player like Taaffe bust coverages. If it was just someone like Littleton or Filsame busting coverages, you could understand. When it is pervasive and someone like Taaffe is included it is a coaching problem
