  1. Antonio Williams was Clemson's best WR. He was a 3 year starter.
  2. He was 3rd in Passing Efficiency behind Rudy Carpenter (asu) and Brian Brohm (Louisville). VY is arguably the best CFB player ever, but more of a playmaker than a pure QB. It would have been great to see VY play in today's NFL, where offensive coordinators would have tailored the offense to his game better. Vince rushed 167 and 155 times in his last 2 seasons. He averaged 14 attempts per game as a Soph and 12 as a Junior (17 att or more in 4 games). Arch is passer first. He is a QB with the ability to run. Arch is not as good of a runner as VY and Sark is not going to use his legs like that. They are just different players.
  3. I could be off, but I dont see Sark running much QB run game vs most the schedule. I think it will be need based. I will be shocked if Sark makes it a staple of the offense. The opposition knows Arch is a capable runner. The scouting report alone will likely keep the backside from crashing on action away. I get your point about him being the constraint on the opposing defense, but I doubt Sark will even care vs teams like SJSU, UTEP, SHST, UK, MSU, Vandy, etc. If Sark needs to use Arch in those games, things have not gone near expectations. Its a risk/reward thing.
  4. Its going to be 0-1 called runs for the vast majority of the schedule. I could see 4-8 in playoff/conference champ type games. That may be me projecting my wishes on Sark.
  5. The entire line of thought was stupid. Ewers has played with more NFL talent, than any QB at Texas. (see the likely back to back years of set Texas draft records). The response of how is Sam doing now with NFL players is next level bad. Pretending that being surrounded by NFL players in the NFL is the same as being surrounded by NFL players in college is just stupid. Reason #257 to close this thread
  6. Its highly unlikely the OL is a better pass blocking unit, even with Cam and Banks playing hurt/banged up for the back-end of the season (which nobody likes to mention. still wondering Cam's injury, since he didnt compete at the combine). That said I do believe Arch will provide some relief. I think he instantly upgrades pocket awareness and that has nothing to do with his athleticism. His mistakes will be more along the lines of doing too much. That may balance out the pass pro. Less self-sacks, but worse pass pro. I do wish we had a spring game. I am really wondering, if we will see a dramatic change in the offense. The offense has been mostly horizontal the past few years. Run game has been predominantly OZ. Initially it was screen guys and let Bijan find a hole. RB room took a major hit from Bijan, but Texas has played with 2 NFL OTs the last 2 years. It made sense to run outside behind them. I think this year that may change. Interior is projected to be Neto, Hudson, and DJ. That is where all the experience/maturity is on the OL. I think it is highly likely that group is much better moving people. Highly unlikely to be as good as Conner and Jake in pass pro. OT is likely Goosby and Baker. Baker is a freshman, so no idea what he looks like. Goosby looks like a typical dancing bear at LT. He looks great in pass pro but run blocking hasn't been his thing and may never be his call card. I think that may lead to a bigger focus on rushing between the tackles. Passing game will likely change. Texas was in the 90th percentile in usage rate on screens and swing routes in the country. The deep crosser and post routes are also staples (missing the post route was definitely a staple in 24). Texas had low usage rates of seams, outs, come backs, go, and curl routes. (tip of the hat to Babers on that information). It has been a heavy dose of short perimeter passing. I think that mix will be significantly different with Arch. He loves to throw deep and you know Sark is jonesing to bring back the vertical passing game. Sarks desire was on full display vs ULM, even he admitted in the post-game presser he called too many deep shots. Everyone knows where Quinn's ADOT was, I would bet a lot of money Arch is not going to be in near the bottom of the league in ADOT
  7. or you could have looked at the prior 5 pages of nonsense talking about this subject with he who shall not be named
  8. Agree. I dont see him as a topflight talent. He is not big. He has decent mobility, but he isnt a great athlete. His arm is solid, but nobody would say he has a cannon. His physical traits are closer to Drew Brees than Josh Allen. He will have to develop better anticipation and football savvy to be a high-end NFL QB, that is extremely hard to predict.
  9. There are noticeably taller with bigger physiques, so Quinn always looked small in comparison. Quinn is a touch under-sized to the proto-type, but taking pictures next to Arch and Maalik made him look like a little boy. More perception, than reality.
  10. This is just stupid. Helm sprained his ankle on 1st attempt and still did all the drills. How frail is your ego that you find pleasure in that?
  11. He has been dealing with an injury for quite a while. I am not sure when it first happened. Its odd we havent heard a thing about it, especially since he didnt perform at the combine. He shot up the draft boards in the first half of the season. I could see someone convincing themselves the last 4-5 games can be attributed to health issues.
  12. His athletic scores were a surprise, and he threw well. He probably moved up as much or more than anyone. He is coming from pretty far back but definitely put himself in a position to be a mid-round guy. Cook finished as the top quarterback in every testing category, earning a Relative Athletic Score of 9.71 out of 10. That ranks him 30th out of 993 quarterbacks evaluated since 1987
  13. MPH for DT, welcome to the silly season
  14. Interesting to Shadeur almost fall ou tof the 1st round.
  15. Combine. Lots of people add or lose the weight for this week (except T Sweat) and then go straight back. Its kind of like taking a bride's weight on her Wedding day and then checking back in 5 years.
  16. I just did, so please put on ignore or settle your sad ass down and lose the pretend tough guy act Should add 66 grade for Will Howard and a 42.9 grade for Quinn by PFF in that game
  17. So sensitive. You look at the game, you ignore 1.5 yards per attempt more, the 75 more yards rushing by Howard, the higher QBR, and higher QB rating and come to the conclusion its basically the same. Of course, you do the typical fan nonsense and say take out this play and that play from the opposition and pretend that is a logical exercise.
  18. Take away the big play and a missed hold and it all the same, got it.
  19. Yards per attempt being 1.5 per greater is not similar. The QBR should have been a heads up on that.
  20. I have said for months. It seems like Word and Shadeur are locked in the 1-2 spot and I expect a ton volatility in the next group. It only takes 1 team to change the rankings. Appears to be only 2 guys that will be 1st round selections. The next group is likely in the 3rd round, perhaps someone reaches in the 2nd. I know Zerlien was saying it is a bit unusual for QBs to go in the 2nd. Teams usually draft in the 1st with the player being deemed a start level player and then usual wait to the 3rd and after.
  21. I have seen the Shough talk. He was definitely a big winner at the combine. He is just coming from the back of the pack. I dont think he has moved to that 3/4 spot yet, but we will see.
  22. He is 4th. Ward, Shaduer, Dart, and then Ewers. Dart had the best passing session at the Combine. He came in at 3. He is leaves as 3
  23. Oh shit, how did I forget Barron
  24. Banks, Golden, and who??
  25. 4. Quinn Ewers, Texas The strongest parts of Ewers' outing in on-field drills on Saturday were his solid mechanics and impressive accuracy. The Texas product was hitting receivers on all levels of the field with nice ball placement the first half of his throws, and he was really able to show off his nice footwork and lower-body mechanics with no pass rush to worry about. Ewers wasn't quite as strong as Dart was when he had to throw to his right side and on some of the deeper throws on "go" routes. The 2024 second-team All-SEC quarterback missed some easy throws on comeback routes to his right side and didn't show off much of the requisite anticipation on those routes. When it came time to throw deep, Ewers had some bad underthrows that took away from an otherwise solid performance. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/draft/2025/03/01/nfl-combine-2025-quarterback-rankings-draft/80969533007/
