  1. Had a Ford Escort that took a minute to get to 65mph. To enter 35 there…it was challenging
  2. In the playoffs it was a matter of ability. He was terrible and cost the Bills bigtime.
  3. Project Connect, taxes, and building costs have meant fuckall for Austin housing prices since we’re in a global real estate market. In fact, making it less profitable to own an extra home or build a new home has helped stabilize the market. Things like inflation and interest rates have worked together in complicated fashion along with global economy to shape our housing market. The other issues that need to be understood is the depth and breadth of the homeless problem. The first is that what we see being the problem is the long-term homeless, who migrate to Austin and can fit in one or more of these categories: Mental illness, addicts, or career criminal. This is a regional and national problem. Austin has little ability to solve these issues in the longterm. Where affordability really causes homelessness are people and families temporarily displaced. Thats your single mothers, abused children, termed foster kids, divorced dads. One or more Surly posters may find themselves living on friend sofas or motels. Guess what: you may be homeless.
  4. Or car backfires. Tell your son to grow a pair and enjoy the food trucks and chess boxing tournaments. Where was he when you were mowing down fools in Saigon? Right, slick!
  5. Not at the scale that its currently happening. After the 2018 primary beatdown, where suburban soccer moms abandoned the GQP, they redoubled the efforts to create crises at local meetings (city, county, school board, PTAs, churches).
  6. My foreign suv supposedly tops out at 160. My solution is to shift liability to auto makers and dealers for accidents involving speeds over 100.
  7. This trend is new when looking at the last 8 years versus the previous 80. Massive amounts of Christian churches are dividing mostly over LGBQT focus
  8. Between divisions over inclusion and being co-opted by white nationalism, Christian institutions are being further decimated.
  9. Horrific 3-pt shooting. All too familiar.
  10. Since some people have to wear mask due to immune diseases, you can either tell others “Hippa! I got Hippa!” or “Diplomatic Immunity!” and be safe from judgment. They totally will understand.
  11. Your response to Brisket’s post on systemic issues in police accountability is to not respond at all but go full on flinging poop post. Post less.
  12. Watched Fox Sunday morning news show. They were talking about the Russian terrorist attack then quickly equated it to the border crisis where it showed a bunch of Mexican men tearing down fencing and getting into with border agents. “It was a bad attack in Russia but look at our own border!”
  13. Preseason estimates were wrong. Hunter and Mitchell’s lack of development is the biggest disappointment. They are talented but were inconsistent. Hunter had a horrible game outside of a few bursts. One of the worst games I’ve ever seen a starter have. At times Dwayne Wade, then Ollie from Hoosiers.
  14. I think about Dogus Balbay as often as I think about the Roman Empire. He was an awesome player to watch.
  15. Good try. That's gonna last until next year -- you're gonna be in here regurgitating Gordon Wood, talkin' about, you know, the Pre-revolutionary utopia and the capital-forming effects of military mobilization.
  16. More book talk. I laid out pragmatic reasons why the movie Chani would be pissed and not your pretend book Chani that doesnt exist except in a different version. It’s almost 60 years old. It’s the Tom Bombadil LOTR talk all over again. “Moody, Petulant”? I saw a heart-broken, disillusioned movie character who was privy to Paul’s doubts and thoughts and felt betrayed. Your preconceptions are irrelevant about how badass the book Chani is. Fuck Book Chani. I hope she got killed off.
  17. Its an effort to extend the bench, where we’re average. High energy guys like Weaver fit the profile. They want Horton to start and help with better spacing. If Horton plays well then you have more options. If he doesnt we’ve seen him ride pine.
  18. Movie was better than book in this scene by a lot. And who cares about the book? Lot of updates seem like huge improvements. A strict retelling of the book in a movie would be a catastrophe.
  19. Moon River!
  20. Both Chicago and Moulin Rouge were beatings. Great post.
  21. So you strenuously object to our constitution and reality? The reality is that the problem isnt that we have fake mentally ill who are truly competent to stand trial. Its that we have really mentally ill people that are incompetent.
  22. He probably hears “Thats Gold!” yelled at him by strangers 50x a day
  23. So if someone shared an opinion that Once Upon a Time in the West was poor, but that they didnt go for Westerns, should we give a shit about their opinion about Westerns? Your opinion is not forbidden. You just undermined it and so we have no respect for your thoughts in this area.
