  1. I was a poor grad student and had to use the cheap method - piece of rubber hose in the ear and listening. SU (Seldom Understood) carb's were a piece of work. The manual was no help - it said "turn the adjusting nut until it sounds right". The problem was 3 dimensional. Had to get it sounding right on 2 devices and get the rpm's correct. Getting 2 of the 3 was easy.
  2. My favorite story was driving down I-59 to Tuscaloosa while in college. About midnight where the mercedes plant is now. Dark as it could be and suddenly the headlights turn off and the wipers start working. I was looking around for the UFO. Pulled into the rest stop and everything came back on and didn't happen again.
  3. Some Lucas humor. Those who haven't had a Lucas based car probably wonder why we bash them so much https://www.mez.co.uk/lucas.html
  4. Did not know this until recently. The wonderful Amphicar (both car and boat) used Lucas. Lucas and water together - what could go wrong? At least on land you can coast to the side of the road
  5. Company motto - be home before dark Lucas disliked my MGA in college and tried to light it on fire by shorting the starter switch and melting a bunch of wires nearby. Luckily the MGA was so simple (only 2 fuses) that the fire repair only took 2-3 hours and part of that was getting to the store to but a roll of new wire...
  6. Well the Tiger name on the back fooled me...
  7. Why is there a Triumph emblem in the engine compartment? Sunbeam was a different company.
  8. Yes but years ago so not much help. However I learned to ski at Ogden and it was great - almost no crowds during the week. You can also fly into Ogen and drive down to SLC. It's not that far
  9. Just shortening clubs without adjusting the lie angle isn't going to help much.
  10. See if Barbara Puett is still teaching at Barton. She has taught for like 50 years and would be an excellent hour or two to figure htis out.
  11. and if they really like their "12th Man" coming out of the stands than they aren't going to like that Auburn literally did that in 1990. Redshirt freshman RB was told he was not going to play in opener and he was sitting in the stands when they paged him at halftime. He suited up and had several carries in second half. https://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/fl-xpm-1990-09-12-9002130697-story.html
  12. John posted it on the other forum - his reply Recipe - you pay me the money and I give you the squash.....
  13. More serious reply. Doesn't matter. Just be conformable. Also Sierra Trading post online has a lot of decent stuff for good prices
  14. This makes it complicated. Mom has a speaker bar but wants another speaker near the chair. I can't do a receiver because of space. It's regular cable so no Apple TV stuff etc. It cannot have a separate control. She has one remote and likes it. I can run wire in place of the sound bar if I have to. Ideas?
  15. This was the hardest hit I ever saw and one of the worst calls ever. OU/Nebraska. The Nebraska guy get a 40 yard sprint and destroys Kelly Phelps. You can see his back bow out it shape of a helmet. The worst call is they said it wasn't a fumble - forward progress had stopped. The forward progress part was correct. Got to the 1:25 mark to start
  16. Well NIL pretty much allows this now
  17. You ought to hit DV if for nothing else but the environment. I haven't been in a few years but it was always my favorite because they limited the lift line and the surroundings were beyond first class. Not that I was a food critic but lunch was always much better than a burger on a paper plate.
  18. You said he hired Sexton - good luck
  19. Saw a Santa on top of a local grocery store this afternoon and was thinking of that classic
  20. Copilot is looking like "quit taking pictures and let's go!"
  21. My only "1" was never seen by anyone. We were playing night golf and none of us saw it go in. We literally were looking around the back of the green when someone decided to look in the cup.
  22. Back when I skiied a lot I never took my own skiis before Christmas. Just rent em with damage waiver.
  23. As an old Chemical Engineer I am glad Auburn changed the courses. Now the last course is Organic. I had to take a year of Physical Chemistry after Organic. The department head had the incorrect view that every one of us was going to go for a PhD.
  24. On the electrical question but I priced this on my house back in Alabama. it was about 6K because the original box is 40 plus years old and they have to get some of the wires coming out of it up to code when they move it. Not cheap. Hopefully your house is not 40-50 years old with wiring that came with it
