  1. Firstly, Nuclear Power Plants are the way to go. Energy Grid thread out front shoulda told ya. Secondly, having worked in/around the power and utilities industry. I'm not so sure that you can tell a difference in integrity for energy companies and tech companies like meta. It's the meme of Pam saying they are the same picture. Thirdly, I thought Meta was building or investing in SAMs. I could be thinking of Google. or Microsoft. I mean all big tech is adding power (nuclear) to their portfolios due to the greedy power hog known as AI.
  2. I was in a cabin in Colorado with the grandkids a couple weeks back during ski vacation. Pretty rustic, not a ton of luxury, but ski in/ski out, fire place, sauna, 5 bedrooms, etc. Each room was outfitted with a flat screen 27 inch TV. To the grandkids the TV was tiny and old fashioned, but normal to me. There was no streaming services, just a DVD player, a channel guide, and 40 channels on a schedule. Only two of which had any age appropriate cartoons. It was very interesting watching these kids who can watch any and all cartoon content at the click of a button at any given time have to watch a problematic episode of The Jetsons or an episode of the Flintstones on Boomerang. I found that modern cartoons keep tiny kids awake and hooked and stimulated with dialuted pupils. The cartoons from yesteryear where a nice sleep aid as kids would just pass out once they settled in to the acceptance that this is all you can have and there are no other options.
  3. This pic (minus the kid from the Cher movie The Mask) is giving late 90's A-Chi-O house, complete with the same bunk beds.
  4. I agree wholeheartedly. But that said, if falling birthcounts and populations are truly impacting enrollments (and project to be in the near future), why not rationalize some of the schools and pool resources, teachers, and students together to optimize or "load balance" if you will? That is what it sounds like is happening in Lewisville which would make sense as it is not a destination for young families or folks looking to raise families for the most part.
  5. Is that a 424? or m4?
  6. Did you sell this?
  7. @Fat Bastard I'm getting up there in age, what do you think about The Cooper Institute and their full workup they do on the heart? https://www.cooperinstitute.org/
  8. I left YTTV for Fubo and have zero complaints.
  9. I mean, TSA precheck even sucks these days. CLEAR for life.
  10. From the dallas morning news:
  11. a police officer.
  12. Wasn't clear from the headline, but this person was a MAGAT? Seems more RFK Jr., but still...
  13. I sold yesterday at 106k. Will get back in if/when it dips to 80's. That's the play I think, pick and choose windows. Bitcoin might or might not be stupid and have no practical value, but it's long past the exit velocity to make it a tradeable commodity with very little risk (unlike every alt-coin).
  14. Well, in the interest of avoiding a squabble, I'll address the AA point. I didn't even realize ACN was the offshoot of AA until like the third interview. I imagine most of the dumb public has zero idea.
  15. Full disclosure, I've worked for Accenture. So what's the beef there? What's toxic about implementing software programs? We weren't some major strategy setter for anyone.
  16. Look, I agree with everyone on this thread, but this is a ridiculous statement. McKinsey as a strategic and management consulting firm is amazingly effective and highly credible...which is part and parcel why they got in this immoral hot water as they made opiates explode and caused such irreparable harm. Because when you hire them they generally do a great job at whatever you are struggling to do (e.g. efficiencies, cost-takeout, GTM, growth, optimizing processes, etc.).
  17. It's crazy. Just got back from skiing. Got in a massive wipeout and felt like I got hit by a bus by the time I got to the bottom of the mountain. I ain't no spring chicken, I thought I had broken all the bones. Go to the nearest ER which is a dumpy Colorado vet or miner hospital on the border of New Mexico and the doc there is awesome. Do a full trauma workup (as if I got in a car wreck) and full scan. Turns out I'm fine, just bruised and battered, but no tears, breaks, fractures, nothing. Just very sore. Nurse: "Mr. Vegas, we can't give you any norco or pain meds like that because you took some Advil (or Tylenol) a few hours ago before coming in, but we have a bunch of fetanayal we can push in your IV" Me: Um wut? You want to give me fet? Nurse: "The only thing we can give you, it's this or nothing. I've sent a muscle relaxer to the pharmacy, but if you want anything now it's this or nothing" Me: "I'm fine, thank you" I couldn't believe how easy they dispense with it and no wonder rural communities are lousy with it.
  18. I read it as Caitlin Clark is being hated on by the worker bees of the league because she is white in a majority black league.
  19. Reminds me of a stat I read about Elon Musk: “Federal Election Commission filings show that Musk spent $277 million to help Trump win reelection, which, given his net worth, is the equivalent of someone with a net worth of $100,000 donating $70.”
  20. Where is the line drawn between "responsible and ceremonial head of evil that can be assassinated" and "just doing a job, man"? Board of Directors? CEO only? C-Suite? CEO & EVP, SVP, VPs? Director level? Manager level?
  21. I think they are starting to get the message. Feels like the beginning of a Batman movie.
  22. One of the things that I think few people talk about with changing the game here too is the impact of becoming and being a doctor. Correct me if I am wrong, but when you compress everything in a nationalized way, doctors in other countries are just run of the mill professionals. They aren't making the huge money that specialists over here are and they lack the prestige the "my son is a doctor" provides. When you go from making $1 million a year to $200k a year (especially considering the laborious and difficult route of becoming a doctor) you are going to get a lot less quality and cream of the crop is my estimation. We would need to really skinny down the whole process is my guess. Doesn't matter when you are talking about things that affect 90% of gen pop, but when talking about bleeding edge disease management and treatment and hyperspecifity in very important (cardiology, neurology, etc.) adn less important (say, dermatology or cosmetic plastic surgery), you may have few great options and a lot of options that look like what people fly to Turkey and Mexico for.
  23. Preach, brother.
  24. Definitely agree with you. This is why healthcare is such a quagmire. There is zero way to make everyone happy, all the time.
  25. For sure. I'm just giving a personal anecdote because I felt it relevant. Especially in the face of other personal anecdotes that are romantcizing nationalized or socialized healthcare which, again, for basic and run of the mill things, is amazing. Basic care for broken bones and infections and even more basic chronic conditions for 300+ million people it's great. For the "rare" millions with rare or specialized disease and disorder, private healthcare from your employer is a huge privilege (and at the expense of the risk pool of all the normies). That's my only point.
