  1. I believe they're dropping a 900+ death total today. Not sure what's up with their reporting now.
  2. Not comparing abilities, but where did DKR go to school again?
  3. Have my strongly worded email typed up. Can't think of a worse trio to dictate any UT agenda than a couple billionaire pricks and fucking Dat Patrick.
  4. Somebody mentioned the weird Florida death numbers over the weekend, but they are continuing to be reported in the single digits daily, despite averaging over 15k cases a day. Something is up there, or they're just going to drop 800 deaths once a week and hope everyone pays attention to the other 6 days.
  5. Definitely nothing wrong with one of the few swing votes in the Senate having a vested interest in not decreasing fossil fuel consumption. JFC... https://www.vice.com/amp/en/article/z3x8bw/joe-manchin-senator-millions-coal-grant-town-west-virginia?__twitter_impression=true
  6. Perseid meteor shower is supposed to ramp up the next three days. Any recs for places near Austin to go to avoid light pollution as best as possible? I inherited a telescope I would like to try out as well.
  7. Kushner went to prestigious schools, as did George W. Bush. Nobody is wrongly accusing them of being smart.
  8. Anybody ever play the phone/tablet game, Plague? Difficulty settings were based on how hard it was to wipe out all humans. We started this pandemic on medium, but whoever is in charge of the simulation must have cranked it down to easy sometime around Thanksgiving. Pretty sure we are on kid-mode now.
  9. We suck...
  10. 2006 vs Ohio State. I kept forgetting about how to pick up tickets as a student so I bought one off a scalper for $100 at halftime. I believe I made every home game during the Colt years after that, except for the Thanksgiving game that year. As I mentioned in a different thread, I left Austin after graduating in 2010, but I'm back now and I'm bringing the 10-win season floor with me.
  11. Not at your level, but I worked in ortho in Cypress, which is very much gymnast territory. They beat the shit out of their bodies even when they're not getting "injured". The stress lines on their tibias were insane. And we didn't treat any personally, but I heard of some horrific, life-altering injuries.
  12. Wife works in anesthesia and they are going up to p100's now.
  13. NBC ignored that Tunisian dude til the last 5 meters. I was confused why they weren't commenting on him as he led the last half of the race.
  14. Hmmm, what carries more weight? Spock talking about snow half a century ago or what is actually currently happening? https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/14/weather/extreme-heat-salmon-sacramento-river/index.html
  15. Particularly excited to get the opportunity to watch it all unfold! I'm at the point where I feel the need to make any nature-centric vacation plans in the next 5 years.
  16. NBD, just a billion sea creatures in BC killed by the heat wave and the amazon now emitting more CO2 than it absorbs... https://www.npr.org/2021/07/09/1014564664/billion-sea-creatures-mussels-dead-canada-british-columbia-vancouver?utm_campaign=npr&utm_term=nprnews&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com https://www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/article/amazon-rainforest-now-appears-to-be-contributing-to-climate-change
  17. Same here. 5th grade in Spring, TX circa 1999 I was enlightened that slavery had very little to do with the Civil War. Shout out to Mrs. Underwood, apparently you were just a racist old hag!
  18. Yep, you can get almost all of the eastern US birds in the eastern half of the state and many of the western birds out in BBNP/GMNP area, plus occasional Mexican species. Easily 500+ of the 800ish regular continental US species are seen in TX each year.
  19. Dude lived his first 7 years as the only pet. He thought shit got real when a cat came into the mix 3-4 years ago. Then we got a Covid puppy that has turned into a 90 lb juggernaut, and he realized his golden years aren't going to be the relaxing experience he imagined. He's also in his 11th home since being adopted. Easiest and best dog ever, though.
  20. Mango and Donnie, straight chillin'. The dobie's broken foot is finally healing (or at least not hurting her) 10ish weeks after she broke it at daycare. Keeping a doberman puppy under control when she can't run her energy out was a nightmare.
  21. Sometimes I am envious of the deniers who don't think about this and get depressed every single day.
  22. I'm sure we will get our shit together before this comes to pass... https://amp.france24.com/en/live-news/20210623-crushing-climate-impacts-to-hit-sooner-than-feared-draft-un-report?__twitter_impression=true
