  1. Well, at least one of those goobers actually listed many rational and likely true reasons. But he still didn't list the most important one-- Texas is an elite blue blood destination job in college baseball, and Texas A&M is not.
  2. Why? He pretty clearly fleeced them for all of it. He was checked out the moment he got there. He was in FUPM mode from day 1.
  3. For those in the Dallas area that sometimes lament that Live Oak does not distribute there...
  4. This is your opinion of the viewing experience. And I'll add that it's mine as well. But it doesn't reflect the entire market, quite obviously. Hence the plea at the Oscars and this ensuing discussion. Valuing the cinematic production as a cinematic experience is subjective and not everyone shares in the same set of beliefs regarding the subject.
  5. I love seeing movies at the theater and go pretty regularly, probably 9-12x per year. But my question to the folks at the Oscars insisting that we should go to movies in public theaters is... Why? Is it because THEY make more money that way? If so, why should I care about that? Is it because THEY believe it's a better viewing experience? Plenty of people on this thread are stating that for them personally, it is not. Is it for the sake of nostalgia? If so, why should that be a compelling point for people who don't feel nostalgic about it? WHY should we lament the loss of 1,000 screens over the past couple of years any more than we lament the loss of 9,000 Blockbuster Video stores since 2004?
  6. Devil's Backbone is an excellent beer. Real Ale's best, IMO.

  8. And yet it gave us the tremendous storyline in Office Space and therefore it is forgiven. Edit-- Aw crap that S3. I don't think I even knew there was a S4....

It's a couple years old now but this is a pretty good video that details the logistics.
  10. Agree overall. Specifically, now, I think they are stating they under-achieve relative to resources expended. And they are certainly correct about that. I don't see it changing.
  11. Well I mean, Dirty 6th sucks, this is true. It's just that every street in College Station sucks worse. And then there's the fact that Austin has numerous other entertainment districts, while College Station has... Bryan.

I'm pretty sure this is an unpopular opinion and I'm probably the only one around here who feels this way, but I don't get excited or even interested in the various helmet designs. Most of them are so busy, they just don't make a distinct, cohesive impression on me. The obvious exception was this one:

    Interstellar $30/lb.
  14. When I restored a vintage Airstream travel trailer, I replaced all of the "copper" with PEX. I laughingly call it copper, because it was actually a massive collection of busted copper connected to galvanized pipe connected to PVC connected to electrical conduit (yes, electrical conduit) with a hilarious collection of heater hoses and rotting steel hose clamps making most of the transitions. I replaced everything with clean runs of PEX and from then on the only winterizing I ever had to do was open the faucets, open the low point drains, and drain the water heater. Oh and also I was no longer worried that the water in the trailer was going to kill my entire family.
  15. South Carolina will obviously be a more season-defining game for the ags, because by the time they play Texas, their season will already be defined. And if I had to guess, I'd say they'll be defined as about an 8-3 team by the time they get to Austin.
  16. Maybe, but first they're going to have to become the leaders of Europe. Which is an activity that I fully support, in addition to my personal desire to see the US continue to aid Ukraine despite whatever the current administration is attempting to do.
  17. Not as great as a bitchin Camaro but I'll allow it. (I drove a 1981 Dodge Omni and was lucky to have it!)
  18. Grist Mill is good. And the setting is great, there's a reason it's an institution.
  19. This was a singularly terrible song. But Eddie was so big at the time, it didn't tank his career like it might have for a lesser person.

Agree. How do you screw up a red racecar?

There are Texans on this very site that will tell you they eat chili with beans in it. If we can't argue our food snobbery on an internet message board, then what are we even doing here?
  23. Nope, but I do sport my moon boots when the occasion arises.
