  1. Yeah, but Jenkins doesn't have the "take your guns" albatross. Plus Jenkins is just as likeable, stable while coming off as less an activist. That's a bit like the Biden vs every other 2020 D candidate. Jenkins covers a lot of bases. I'd like Staci Williams to run for AG. She ran for Supreme Court, but fell short. She's an impressive person.
  2. It's another step towards rationalizing cutting Social Security and Medicaid. People should have had real retirement plans, not depending solely on the government safety net. They just work the last two by spreading hate and fearmongering. They are 6th grade bullies who beat up the smart kids in class that out think them at every turn. Seriously? 99%? I'd really like this guy to lay out a chart of her positions versus hers then. Then see his arguments for disagreement. Of course he's white, male with a goatee. That guy's twitter feed is sad. See 6th grade bully mentioned above.
  3. Yes, one that just pops up now and then throughout the next 4 years. He'd never know when or where. You send one full time, he could get a restraining order, I would think. Always play the same songs too.
  4. It's like their intent on remaking the Dark Ages, right?
  5. Throughout this past year+ I keep thinking this forum has been a life saver for my sanity. It has made me feel less alone in my logic, thinking and ideas of what our country should be. I live in a sea of red who are self centered and willfully ignorant. More than once this forum and many of you have given me different insight that bolstered me when I needed it. That even though it looks bleak, it's not over. Yes, I see the local papers and media touting this group or that doing emergency work to help folks out. I applaud that. But really these measures are band-aids. How do we get real movement to fix the underlying problems that caused or exacerbated these bad situations?
  6. They'll figure out a way to add gouging protection to your homeowner's policy. They'll get your money one way or another. They have no morals, only game is greed.
  7. This is pretty much what I was alluding to concerning military. I was thinking more along the lines of Germany, but yeah to Japan. We hold bases there and pay our military who then use that money to enrich the local economies as well. What do we get in return? Any type of cash payment? Apparently in some places we do, like Germany. But again there is no cut and dried figure to point to as to how it affects our bottom line at home. https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2020/07/06/germany-spent-over-1b-to-cover-costs-linked-to-us-troops/ Over 60% of that billion was for construction of things that will remain in Germany. I'm not going on an "America First" rant, but I have to wonder how much money we spend on it abroad really benefits the average American, and how much benefits the top 1%. Just seems like another way to funnel money up. I won't deny we need to be active all over the world to help defend democracy and human rights, but seems we never learned much from Charlie Wilson's War.
  8. I didn't realize. I removed it. sorry. It's a good vid though.
  9. Does that 35% include military? I assume it does. If so, how much of that military spending returns to our own economy? Or do we pay for military protection/intervention so companies like Haliburton etc can go plunder the natural resources of 3rd world countries? Does that 35% include corporate welfare? Are O&G subsidies calculated in, and if so, how do they reflect the overall good of reduced fuel prices, if any? It's so damn convoluted and interwoven. I'd like to see a breakdown of who pays what into that 35%. Broken down by economic class or individual v corporate. Compare that to the amount of income/wealth per class. Put that on a chart, let's see whose paying what really. Lastly I'd be so curious to see how much income goes untaxed due to off shore transactions and sheltering. Which class do you figure that sort of banking benefits? I doubt there's any way to find that? Look at these questions. I don't have any real clue. But at least I have a general idea of what could be going on. And yet I, like many of you, deal with cretins daily that don't even know what socialism is.
  10. Heidi Cruz doesn't strike me as any more human than her husband. Those poor kids don't have much gene pool to draw from. One of these two, and if pressed to choose, I'd go with Gingrich Only if you consider his class limited to wealthy, republican white elderly males. Everybody else is expected to toe the line on the laws they write (and do it with grace), like voter suppression, red lining. It's been that way a long time.
  11. Cornyn has to be in the top 10 for being ratioed on Twitter. He just keeps stupidly setting himself up over and over. Our two senators live in much different worlds than most of the people they supposedly represent. The comments, as usual, are great.
  12. I think he's working on some sort of app that he can use to both fleece his flock and message them regularly for a price. Something akin to an OnlyFans acct where he is in charge of all content. He can also have guest columnists. And his minions will pay, monthly. 10% of his 75M paying 9.95 a month would be 75M a month. That will pay off a lot of debt and buy some high dollar lawyering. Even so, he can do this from prison and make big bucks. It would be his own version of Mein Kampf. I say all this to jinx him. My track record on predictions is horrible.
  13. McConnell didn't have the spine to get rid of Trump, but definitely wants the GOP shed of his orange ass. He's setting him up for something bigger, and something the Dems will be taking full responsibility for. Reich spells it out down below. But McConnell and the GOP need to hold together their party somehow. If they can get Trump out of the way without too much blood, they have a chance. They know that if they convicted him, it would be the end of the GOP power for a good long while. This was the only way forward he had to save the GOP. Not saying they are worth saving, or he's right for trying, or for him putting party over country. Just saying that if he can be rid of Trump by letting the Dems go after him, he might can rally the GOP back away from the MAGAs. The Dems on the other hand knew they had no chance of conviction, but a) needed to go through the procedures, b) needed to get GOP on record and c) wanted to do it quickly so they could pursue more solid means of holding Trump (and his crew) accountable. Perhaps calling witnesses would have jeopardized some legal moves they intend for near future moves.
  14. Yeah. I'd bet on both. Whatever it is, it's pretty taboo and even outside the norm of just being gay. He's a good enough orator and politician to come out gracefully and not lose his base. Whatever it is, he's despicable, just like his buddy Mitch, but for different reasons. This whole thing certainly does look more like pre-Caesar Rome day by day.
  15. If any of you are interested in being deputy voter registrars, there are some online classes this week you can attend. They are an hour long and you can set yourself up as a DVR in whatever county you reside, or possibly more. Pretty painless. The Monday and Tuesday classes were scratched due to weather. We’re recruiting folks from across Texas to get trained as a Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR) so you can help register voters in Texas. Can you sign up today to become a VDR to help strengthen our democracy? In case this is your first time, or you need a refresher, here are the steps to becoming a certified VDR in your home county: Regardless of where you live in Texas, attend a virtual training run by Harris or Travis County by signing up here. After completing the training, you’ll receive a certificate via email. If you live in the county you trained in, you’re all set and can begin to register folks in your community. If you don’t live in the county that ran the training, our team will send you an email and help you get the final steps you need to register voters where you live. If you’d like to reach out to us directly, you can send an email to VDR@betoorourke.com. Texas is the most voter suppressed state in the county – and one of the ways they suppress our vote is by making it so complicated to register new voters. So when you get trained as a VDR, you are helping fight back against the barriers that stop so many of our fellow Texans from voting. So please, sign up for a VDR training today – even if you don’t live in Harris or Travis County! – to get trained to register voters.
  16. More stapling of dead animals to heads by Republicans. Very shaman like.
  17. They made money for a lot of donors. The more I see Biden in pics, the better I feel knowing we have passed the era of the presidential uniform being those awfully tailored black suits or white polo shirts. When you are insecure, it's easier to imagine yourself more hateable than loveable. So you just hate everyone else first and you win, right? A guy I know once said that 90% of the world's problems are caused by people being uncomfortable in their own skin. (Probably a quote, but I can't find it). It's a pretty accurate statement. Ironic thing is he's been a full blown Qtard for 4 years now.
  18. This needs to be asked of all those who vote not to impeach. But they'd most likely answer with something like: "I'd abstain because to do that on the 15th would not have given Trump enough time to mount a defense." No technicality is off limits in order to avoid doing the job their oath demands. When they vote to not impeach, will that then protect him from other prosecution under double jeopardy? What are the odds they go after some of his family and people like MyPillowGuy through the channels you speak of?
  19. Has footage of what he was doing after the speech and during the raid ever been made public? We know he was watching it all on TV, but the only clips we have are of him watching before he took the stage at the rally, right? Or did others surface?
  20. Would all those people have been in DC on 1/6 if Trump would not have asked them to come? Would they have figured it out and organized themselves, or did it take Trump to send up the MAGA symbol?
  21. My situation is much like yours, potholes and all. Our tax district for the county, schools and ESD has been severely depleted by the decline in O&G prices and production in the past 5 years. Guess what's coming along to save all these MAGA loving assholes? A solar farm. Thank god they didn't have to vote on allowing it, or they'd have voted it down, being good Trumpkins.
  22. This is me too. Then Jerry Jones and his ego showed up. Ruined it all. But hey, we got Jerryworld out of the deal, right? 88 had game and heart. He epitomized the good in the NFL and deserves the recognition.
