  1. I think Conner is outstanding and if Alexis joins the class he is as well. Conner's fall on 247 is absurd, esp considering his fall vs. Foster's rise and yes I am aware of Foster's upside and potential but if you watch those guys play Conner is a far better football player. Outside of that, the offensive class is going to lean heavily on evals. Very. Heavily. Davis, Cain, Brooks, Helm. Any other take, outside of the Camar/LJ Johnson will lean on eval. The interesting thing is that when I look at the offensive players in the top 50 in Texas there's very few guys outside of JoJo and Tommy Brockermeyer that make me feel like "oh man, Texas missed on that one." I guess Quay would qualify but the idea that you could keep his head straight and stay that way for 3 years seems really unlikely. Outside of that it's a collection of guys I feel meh or worse about (like Byrd, Fatheree, Sturdivant, Banks). a shit ton of QBs when we already have Milroe and only one of those QBs that gives me pause, Kyron Drones.
  2. Texas WR rankings using composite, in case folks were not aware of how true it looks like this is right now *JoJo Earle - 10 has Texas offer Shadrach Banks - 12 (A&M) has Texas offer Cody Jackson - 15 (OU) has Texas offer *?Quay Davis - 18 (who even knows) has Texas offer J Michael Sturdivant - 27 *Theodore Knox- 29 (100% CBs to MSU) has Texas offer *Ketron Jackson - 30 has Texas offer Bryson Green - 40 has Texas offer Latrell Neville - 45 (Va Tech) has Texas offer Jerand Bradley - 46 (TTU) Blaine Green - 50 has Texas offer Dylan Goffney - 59 *Hal Presley - 63 has Texas offer Elijah Bean - 70 Rodrick Daniels - 88 (100% CB to SMU) Cameron Bonner - 89 (100% CB to Baylor) Brady boyd - 90 (Minnesota) Javon Gipson - 95 (Baylor) Jimmy Valsin 97 Guys off the top of my head that Texas is "in" on/interested in are noted with a star
  3. I am not a Kyler Murray fan, but he is pretty much the most accomplished TXHSFB QB ever? 42-0, 3 State Championships at Allen, Gatorade National Football Player of the Year also, Davis has officially signed with Auburn?
  4. We will be fine at TE. Auburn swooped in because of Davis. Dirty motherfuckers, but okay, fine. The decommittment isn't at a position of need and isn't due to the bullshit recruiting tactics of late. We're fine. Sucks, but we're fine. Spend the spot on defense or Oline
  5. Agreed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I will say a lot of people probably feel the same way about Juan Davis and to them I say "fuck that shit. Go get him." -- so maybe, Yurcich saw enough with Cain, that's my hope. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  6. ESPN also updated the top 100 in Texas. Williams #60 Harmon #68 🤔 King #74 Cooks #77 😴 Brooks #78 Juan Davis #84 Hal Presley's ESPN page has him at #124 in the state 🤪
  7. Yeah it looks like Stone is going to be the QB for this class. No other offers out and doesn't seem like much communication with others. Figured Davis or Stowers might get a look. I've seen that Stone supposedly is over 200 lbs. now.
  8. Coach Yurcich might be the main recruiter when it comes to Florida according to his recent Twitter follows. These guys all received a follow from him. https://247sports.com/Player/Yulkeith-Brown-46077108/ https://247sports.com/Player/Kamren-Kinchens-46058584/ https://247sports.com/Player/Dallas-Turner-46051516/ Also, UT offered 5* LB Raesjon Davis a couple days ago. He committed to LSU on New Years. This offer is of course in preparation of him flipping to the good guys when UT destroys LSU next season. https://247sports.com/Player/Raesjon-Davis-46056065/
  9. Latest Visitor List 2021 QB Jalen Milroe, Katy Tompkins (61 overall) RB LJ Johnson, Cy-Fair (112 overall) WR Quay Davis, Skyline (98 overall) WR JoJo Earle, Aledo (106 overall) WR Teddy Knox, The Woodlands (147 overall) WR Latrell Neville, Fort Bend Hightower (151 overall) TE Lake McRee, Lake Travis (328 overall) TE Var’Keyes Gumms, Dekaney (512 overall) OL Tommy Brockermeyer, All Saints (3 overall) OL James Brockermeyer, All Saints (313 overall) OL Hayden Conner, Katy Taylor (169 overall) OL Donovan Jackson, Bellaire Episcopal (46 overall) OL Savion Byrd, Duncanville (13 overall) DL Landon Jackson, Texarkana Pleasant Grove (24 overall) DL Tunmise Adeleye, Katy Tompkins (25 overall) DL Jordon Thomas, Port Arthur Memorial (196 overall) LB Derrick Harris Jr., New Caney (170 overall) LB Clayton Smith, Texas High (105 overall) CB Ishmael Ibraheem (119 overall) S JD Coffey, Kennedale (152 overall) ATH Juan Davis, Everman (414 overall) ATH Ja’Tavion Sanders, Denton Ryan (43 overall) ATH Billy Bowman, Denton Ryan (108 overall) National composite ranking added to the above list. 4 five-star players 8 top 100 players 19 top 247 players 148 - Average National ranking of guest list
  10. Any chance we can slide in on Dematrius Davis at QB since Auburn canned Gus? He could go down as the most accomplished Texas HS qb ever if North Shore wins its third straight title (which is looking likely)...
  11. How many of the Texas WRs this year make you go "Damn, that guy is going to be a problem"? Even on a Loic Fuounji level it's slim pickings. It's just Earle and Davis. That's what I mean. There's still some reasonable talent, but almost none of it is very exciting.
  12. The only thing inhibiting us here is potentially the logjam we're acquiring at his potential positions. We've got 2 DE and 1 OLB linebackers committed already, and Juan Davis could make it a 4th, although I doubt that would scare Smith.
  13. It’s a mild surprise that Juan Davis doesn’t hear from other schools. He looks like a legit jumbo athlete in his junior hudl. They are probably the worst edited highlights I’ve ever seen, but there are some impressive plays. The very last one is the best.
  14. we've been offering a bunch of random dudes Quay loves Texas but no one knows if we'll take his commitment. Commence like an entire page of bickering about the semantics of that in true Surly fashion. Texas and A&M $9.95ers both insist that they lead for Landon Jackson rumor that we've stopped returning Saint Milroe's calls and that he's pissed general freakout about RB because Wheaton is a pipe dream, we're on the outside looking in with Johnson, and Henderson is going to tOSU in a stunning development, we missed out on Tunmise's top 5 that's all I can think of right now
  15. If Texas decides to take Lawrence of Abiara, it will be taking the following DL/edge players in the class: - Derrick Harris Jr - Jordon Thomas - Byron Murphy II - Barryn Sorrell - Garfield Lawrence - David Abiara Potentially could play defense - Ja'Tavion Sanders - Juan Davis
  16. I think LSU will get Davis if they don’t get Ryan. PSU is really struggling in recruiting rn, and I’ve seen them lose a lot PGH area guys to other schools over the past decade when they should have landed about half of them.
  17. Yeah Mukuba is pretty much the lone target for Clemson, and they're pitching it that way to him. I think if they miss on Mukuba, they will just address Safety next class. They've backed off Davis and I don't think anyone really considers Clemson a player for Ryan.
  18. As we land these big commitments, let's not lose track of what's important: our ranking. We're up to #4 right now. Juan Davis will put us .12 behind OSU so if the BOMC can work fast by this weekend we could be top 3.
  19. Crazy to think the best current outlook on positions in recruiting are DL and LB. I think DB will end up looking good. OL is entirely dependent on the Brockermeyer's. WR is a big ? right now. Can probably throw RB in with this. TE probably ends up Davis and King.
  20. A few tidbits from different folks at 247... “I've been screaming this for the last few months. Texas is going to sign the lowest rated prospect they've offered at each position.“ - Mike Roach Another user posted this in a different thread... When I said this is the worst offensive recruiting at Texas since David McWilliams, I wasn’t joking. Here is a breakdown by position: QB: UT commit is the lowest ranked of 6 offered (ranked 1077) RB: UT commit is the lowest ranked of 7 offered (ranked 479) WR: UT commits ranked 22 and 30th out of 31 offered (ranked 373 and 948) TE: UT commit is the lowest ranked of 9 offered (ranked 646) OT: UT commits ranked 7 and 13 out of 14 offered (ranked 330 and 1059) OG: no commitments out of 5 offers OC: UT commit lowest ranked of 3 offered (ranked 1049) Decommits in this class include: QB Jalen Milroe (ranked 83) WR Quay Davis (ranked 108) TE Lake McCree (ranked 469) TE Landon King (ranked 579) QB Quinn Ewers (ranked 2 - 2022) WR Phaizon Wilson (ranked 245 - 2022)
  21. Updated List 2021 QB Jalen Milroe, Katy Tompkins (61 overall) RB Camar Wheaton, Lakeview (6 overall) RB LJ Johnson, Cy-Fair (112 overall) WR Quay Davis, Skyline (98 overall) WR JoJo Earle, Aledo (106 overall) WR Teddy Knox, The Woodlands (147 overall) WR Latrell Neville, Fort Bend Hightower (151 overall) TE Lake McRee, Lake Travis (328 overall) TE Var’Keyes Gumms, Dekaney (512 overall) OL Tommy Brockermeyer, All Saints (3 overall) OL James Brockermeyer, All Saints (313 overall) OL Hayden Conner, Katy Taylor (169 overall) OL Donovan Jackson, Bellaire Episcopal (46 overall) OL Savion Byrd, Duncanville (13 overall) DL Landon Jackson, Texarkana Pleasant Grove (24 overall) DL Tunmise Adeleye, Katy Tompkins (25 overall) DL Jordon Thomas, Port Arthur Memorial (196 overall) DL Shemar Turner, Desoto (267 overall) DL Marcus Burris, Pleasant Grove (79 overall) LB Derrick Harris Jr., New Caney (170 overall) LB Clayton Smith, Texas High (105 overall) CB Ishmael Ibraheem (119 overall) S JD Coffey, Kennedale (152 overall) ATH Juan Davis, Everman (414 overall) ATH Ja’Tavion Sanders, Denton Ryan (43 overall) ATH Billy Bowman, Denton Ryan (108 overall) National composite ranking added to the above list. 5 five-star players 10 top 100 players 21 top 247 players 144 - Average National ranking of guest list
  22. Let's just remember the much celebrated Florida 5. Cecil Cherry- Transferred after 2 days of practice. Devonaire Clarington? Didn't qualify Tim Irvin- Committed to Texas and then took a bag of cash to Auburn the next week. Davante Davis- Starter/contributor Gilbert Johnson- Didn't qualify
  23. For a guy we constantly drag (for somewhat good reason), Warehime does get his work done early. Liebrock/Wiley, Hullaby, McRee/Davis - all pretty low excitement recruitments. I assume this and Gilespalooza were all timed to make Drayton look bad and I am here for it.
  24. I've banged this drum on here before, but Louisiana has maybe their deepest WR class ever, and with LSU having an all time passing season, they'll probably take some national kids (they already have a WR commit from Mississippi and Texas) over the in-state kids, and some of those kids will be available without LSU interference. So I was really surprised when Texas offered Casey Cain, who's the 8th ranked WR (with 3 athletes also ranked ahead of him), before they offered much more highly regarded WRs (the only other one who's been offered is the #4 rated WR, and we were a little late on him and didn't make his top whatever list of schools). It's weird to me that all of these guys don't have offers, but maybe some are just overrated or some they know they have no shot at. Similar to the recent offer Michael Jackson III (who unfortunately doesn't have a junior hudl up), I think Cain is very attainable and perhaps even likely if the staff really likes him. I'm not trying to be overly positive and pumping these guys up as adequate replacements for JoJo Earle, Quay Davis, Banks, Jackson, etc., just pointing out two guys who could easily end in this class.
  25. Other movers: Donovan Jackson up 22 Marcus Burris up 22 Milroe up 10 Adeleye down 22 Q. Davis down 9 Jordon Thomas down 32 Ibraheem up 46 Earle up 56 Stowers down 12 Neville up 58 Conner down 26
