  1. Quinn is 3rd on the Heisman list according to Caesars Sportsbook
  2. 2021 Stetson Bennett finished 176 rating, 14-1 record (won ncg)…wasnt even in top 10 of heisman votes. 2020 Spencer Rattler…Justin Fields…not finalists You gotta put up big ass numbers (TDs), show flashy wheels, or go undefeated, if youre competing against dudes with playstation stats
  3. Well, QB is prime Heisman material. It's almost unfair. If Quinn finishes in the 165 range, especially if the team only has one loss (and especially none), he's going to NYC.
  4. Eh, he's close. His Passing Eff rating is 164.7, and Caleb Williams won the Heisman at 168.5, so Quinn's not far off. Then again, Williams is currently at 217.7, so Quinn's pretty far off.
  5. If we win the RRS and Quinn has a good game, he should be the Heisman frontrunner. Sark is turning him into a dual threat QB, who the Heisman voters tend to like more than just pure pocket passers.
  6. Let's not aggy this up. Ewers is having a good season and continues to improve, but he's not playing at a Heisman level. That's not a bad thing. If Ewers plays out of his mind, he'd probably be on the bench way before he throws for 400 yards and 5 or 6 touchdowns. Meanwhile, Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels need those numbers for their teams to have a chance. Ewers just has to drive the bus. If he's in the Heisman conversation, it's because he ran over all of Texas' opponents, backed up, and then ran over them again.
  7. It's just so hard to win it twice. 3 of the top 5 Heisman candidates are in the Pac 12. The Pac 12 is so deep at the top end I don't see how any of Oregon, USC, or Washington finish undefeated. If Texas somehow finishes the season without losing, and Quinn puts up the stats he is on pace to put up, there is no way Quinn loses.
  8. Since getting back from injury in the RRS last year Quinn has now played a full season + bowl worth of games and is 10-3 while throwing for 3176/23/6 and adding another 6 TDs on the ground. If he keeps up his current rate this season and we reach the CCG he will finish around 3530/26/3 with 13 TDs on the ground. I am assuming the rushing TDs trend doesn't hold so it will likely get to 30+ TDs in the air and ~7 on the ground. Unless USC stumbles multiple times in the regular season the Heisman will belong to Caleb Williams again. Can Quinn get to NYC with a Big 12 title, 3500 yards and ~40 TDs, and 11+ wins?
  9. year 1 learning at the greatest qb factory in america. year 2 starter for a supposed “qb whisperer” year 3 with supposedly the best wr corp since Roy-Sloan-BJ….he should be neck to neck with Caleb Williams in the heisman discussion, not having internet folks scrutinizing his footwork and wondering if he’s afraid of contact.
  10. did i see a 'stat' last night that 3 of the last 5 QBs to beat bama have won the heisman?
  11. It's been a looooong fucking time since Texas put out a legitimate Heisman performance at QB. Ewers put on the best showing by a Texas QB since Colt beat #1 OU.
  12. I’d like to go all texags permaban style on any and all assholes that called for Ewers to be benched and or Murphy to get reps. Haha. Jk, but seriously, fuck you guys. I hope this is just the beginning for Ewers and we ride him to a playoff with a heisman trophy. That’s a lot of kool aid but a man can dream.
  13. He got the monkey off his back tonight. I think he deserved the criticism, but he stepped his game up and had an All-World performance in the toughest of situations. If he keeps this up and our receivers start catching everything, he's in the running for the Heisman.
  14. Colt was literally the most accurate passer in football history when he played. His 2008 completion percentage was 76.7%. That is fucking nuts. He connected on more than 3/4 of his pass attempts. And his passes were on the numbers in stride, that dude could fucking sling it. I guess my point is that comparing Quinn Ewers to Colt is as silly as comparing Sam Ehlinger to Vince Young. Colt wasn't just good, he was one of the single best players in college football history. That he didn't win a heisman is a fucking travesty. It's not like Colt was merely good. Colt McCoy was all-time great.
  15. I never understood why the media had Ewers as a Heisman candidate and a 1st round draft pick. What in the world was that based on?
  16. I mean of course we would all take another Vince but a Ewers/Colt combo has first overall pick/HOF potential on top of MNC/Heisman potential.
  17. I'm not sure what you mean by "Heisman-like" season, but I can totally see him (a) getting better (b) not going to NYC and (c) being a first round pick. QB potential is a drug for NFL GMs.
  18. I generally agree with most of your post. But I wonder about Quinn declaring for the NFL next season. IMO, he would likely need a Heisman-like season to make going to the NFL worth it. Basically he needs to be a projected 1st round pick, otherwise it probably isn't worth it (from a financial standpoint). I could see a possible scenario where coming back to play in the 2024 season benefits Ewers.
  19. I’m not disagreeing with you at all. I do think QBs need time. With that said, - Trevor Lawrence: supplanted Kelly Bryant in his 2nd game as a true freshman and led his team to a national championship during his college career. - Bryce Young: looks like a future NFL star and Heisman winner. Has looked this way since day 1 of his RS freshman year. - Tua: beats out Jalen Hurts and out plays him his freshman year. - Caleb Williams: beats out Spencer Rattler his RS freshman year. Rattler may be a douche but he’s going to get drafted. Quinn in his RS freshman year looked worse than Hudson Card most of the year and I don’t think very highly of Card’s ability… I do think Quinn is talented and can be a good P5 starter and game manager. I do not think Quinn is the 5 star generational talent we thought he was. Those guys show it early on.
  20. Lol. "Go look at the great QBs!" *Looks at Heisman winners* "You're self-selecting!" He did, but was looking specifically at Freshman->Sophomore. Burrow's senior year was unworldly.
  21. Dude Manziel was a RS freshman, Winston didn’t play, you are essentially talking about Caleb Williams that came in ready to spit fire- and even then it took him 6 games to get the start and he looked like shit against us throwing when he got his first real opportunities. And- you are self selecting Heisman winners as the best of the best which even more shades the numbers. True freshmen are shit like 98% of the time. RS freshmen suck like 80 or 90% of the time.
  22. Just looked up the Heisman winning QBs since 2012. There's some of that -- but only two didn't play much freshman seasons. In general, it seems if they are in the right system, they light it up quickly. Nine Heisman-winning QBs. Two didn't really play freshman year (Young, Burrow). Of the remaining 7, just 3 saw a big improvement from freshman to sophomore years -- Jackson, Murray, and Mayfield. Murray and Mayfield's progress also coincided with a transfer to OU. Caleb Williams: Bryce Young: Burrow: Murray: Mayfield: Jackson: Mariota: Winston: Manziel:
  23. it continues to absolutely baffle me that people keep bringing up sam ehlinger's freshman struggles with the framing of, "hey Sam struggled as a freshman and look what he became!" he became Major Applewhite if Major went to Westlake HS. stop acting like he was Colt McCoy, and definitely stop it with the, "we've never had anyone like him! maybe VY?" nonsense. god this fan base is delusional when it comes to that kid. he was a good-not-great qb with moxie who went 28-16 at Texas. quit talking about him like he was a two time all american, heisman winner who's just waiting for his statue to be built.
  24. Not really man. Go look at the post I made with the numbers for the last 10 Heisman winners as freshmen, he’s actually better than most. I wanted him to be special. He hasn’t been. That doesn’t mean he won’t be, just that he currently isnt. I bet he’s all conference next year. We need him to be all American. I’d bet against that based upon what I saw this year but your standard for a freshman just isn’t reasonable man.
  25. Ewers will win the Heisman next year. you heard it here first.
