I still suck at recruiting so that’s fun

I don't think I have perfected it, but it has been working for me: Keep in mind, I am usually starting dynasties with 3* or worse teams, so not much experience with recruiting with more dominant teams.

  • Let's say I have 8-10 guys who have me as their NO. 1 team. If I have 450 recruiting points total, I will only add the amount of guys which allows me to spend 50 points on them week one. (This is after I've already offered them scholarship 5 points when I am setting up my board.)
  • In this scenario, maybe I have left off 4 guys who have me as their top school. To me, that is ok. If they are not on my list and with no scholarship offer, they USUALLY still keep me as their no. 1. I have no science to prove this, but adding a recruit to your list makes them wanted more by other schools.
  • Moving on: those initial recruits that I have added and spent 50 points on, they USUALLY sign with me. Maybe 1-2 don't, it really depends on their rating. 1-2 stars are obviously easier to get than 3-5 stars.
  • Once more points become available, I will spend those on the other recruits who still have me listed as their top school. You'd be surprised at how quickly your class can fill up just by doing this. Also, some guys will add you later in the season and make you their top school.
  • When you are late in the season, be sure to see which recruits are still available. The ones who have not signed are way more likely to sign with you, especially when you throw 50 points their way in week 11. Again, not always a sure thing, but it does work.
  • If you are a crappy school, sign whoever you can. Doesn't matter if they are a bust or not IMO. You just need bodies. A "bust" 4* at Akron/Buffalo/etc etc is better than a 1 or 2-star IMO. These "busts" are usually the guys who are available later in the season. Especially the higher-rated ones.
  • The postseason portal is kind of the same thing: Find recruits you want/need and give them 50 (or whatever max points you can give them) points as soon as you can. Those initial recruits are likely to sign with you.

Again, I don't think this is a fool-proof plan, but it has worked for me.

you on 26? i’m still on 25. literally have not even gotten a pass off to the rb, i either get sacked or hit as i throw every single time. zero blocking.

Only thing I can think of: Are you taking the snap and moving directly back with the QB? Usually the throw is "off balance" since you are moving backwards. If that makes sense. you can't take the snap, stand there and get it off. The OL is moving out of the way too quickly. Gotta run backwards immediately.

I played last night and was thinking about this thread. Used the screen a few times and had about the same level of success. Better teams are more likely to shut it down though.

Just needed to play better I guess, recruiting at Northwestern now is pretty solid in year 5 of my dynasty. I have 2 9 win seasons and last one was 11 wins and a playoff win so pretty solid lately but my job offers have been complete shit. 3 HC offers after last season NIU, Eastern Michigan, and Jax State not sure but that seems a little off.

So tired of players just spamming whatever the latest cheese is in Road to CFP. Played a dude that literally ran the Penn State Wildcat Option every play. It’s so boring.

Played another dude that just ran nickel double mug mid blitz zero every play.

Are all online sports games this way? Just do whatever YouTube tells you?

Anyone else think the wear and tear system is fucked? In dynasty, at least, it feels like most games my RB is a walking corpse in the 2nd half and usually doesn't get subbed in at all.

it was that way on 25, i had to turn on unlimited stamina.

Wear and tear is fucking stupid on a video game. They have yet to get it close to usable.

I understand it for Dynasty, they're trying to make it as realistic as possible, but yeah. I played around with it a bit, dropping all the wear/tear settings to 15 and then upping the recovery settings to 75 seemed to make it much more realistic/manageable.

Yea, I don't start a dynasty until I can get the sliders figured out. Operation Sports has some posters that make it their mission to tinker until they've found the perfect combo.

Don't like W&T? Either turn it off or fuck with the sliders until you've found the right settings.

i can’t speak for this game because i haven’t played it nearly as much as ive played fifa, but on fifa you go adjust the sliders and after a little while it just stops mattering that you adjusted them, ea has too many pre-scripted facets of the game for the sliders to even matter after awhile. i haven’t played fifa in a while, and i stopped buying it 5+ years ago, but even on my last career mode run i found myself routinely messing with the sliders to respond whatever BS ea programming was overriding the slider settings.

I don’t want to have to mess with the settings on a damn video game that I’m just playing to try and relax a little. If I wanted to stress over a game, I’d fire up Socom or NCAA Baseball or The Last of Us. Or fucking Battletoads.

Ok. Just my two cents. Takes about 60 seconds to set for a 30 year dynasty. The folks at OS do all the tinkering and experimenting.

Speaking of battletoads, can we get a stream of Derka trying to play it?

I haven’t done a dynasty in several iterations of the game.

As far a Derka streaming Battletoads, who’s gonna host it? He ain’t fucking up my Nintendo in the warp tunnel.

I get that for sure, but Dynasty is kind of designed to be a stressful game mode. It's meant to try and be as realistic as you can be in a video game setting. Wear and tear, recruiting, transfers, etc are all worries real coaches have to deal with so there's some level of that they're trying to convey to the player by design.

I'm all for wear and tear being a thing, specifically in Dynasty, I want guys to get hurt, I wanna get pissed off when I lose recruits or guys transfer etc, it makes it all feel more real and interesting. If none of that ever happened in Dynasty, it'd be boring as hell. Just my $0.02.
