Check your local Total Wine. They received some JD Heritage recently. Might be the most crushable new release this year.

Thanks, I jumped on it. Still mulling over the Single Malt Sherry finish you keep advocating for 🤔

Try it at a bar if you can. I understand the hesitation at that price point. It’s almost the same price as the JD Tanyard Hill Rye and the other JD special releases.

Even this cold weather isn’t enough to motivate to that proof any longer. I’m sure it’s excellent, but not for me.

The next time they sell me a hazmat bottle, it’ll be the first. Glad to get one north of 135 proof. Reviews have great. I’m excited to try it, but it’s probably going to have to wait until January.

Heritage barrel is great.  I have one of the OG special release bottles from ‘18 open and it still goes hard.

I didnt realize the Heritage bottle was desirable.  Saw it at Village Liquor on Gessner yesterday for MSRP.  Already ordered one from TW this morning and probably will go back and buy another.

That Village location selling anything above Jim Beam at MSRP is quite shocking.

That's my point exactly on this.

I didnt bother asking about the ER12.

Very curious. The Brewzle guy has interviewed a couple mom and pop owners and they’ve basically said they’re getting squeezed by the distributors to charge less on anything that isn’t allocated. I remember Old Ezra 7 Rye at $40 was a bottle that was singled out.

Methinks he hung up a $130 dollar handwritten sign for Heritage and his Jack guy rapped him on the wrist.

That was a cool store. You could routinely find allocated stuff for 125% of MSRP. Of course it went straight to hell after Covid.

VIP Vault thoughts:

- Many technical issues, but they usually fixed it. And they were always nice about it. User error probably cost me a bottle of Old Forester Presidential.

- It’s more democratic. A lot of first time BTAC owners this year. I don’t give a shit because they’re going to give me Lot B/ORVW and WLW/GTS/THH every year.

- I didn’t get Parker’s or 4RLE this year. These were lay ups in previous years, but I did get a JD Special Release. That was a floor drop every year previously. I wanted that Parker’s, agnostic on the 4RLE (it’s not priced well), but if I get a couple Coy Hills moving forward I’ll call it even. Hopefully stuff like 1924 and ER12 is an email instead of a drop. So sick of this camping out line bullshit.

- I don’t love them throwing legacy points out. It’s a rolling 12 month point total now. I’ve tried to buy every 6 pack, bottle of wine, mixer, and nice bottle of booze at the same location since I moved back in 2011. Loyalty should mean something.
