No idea if Carte Blanche has been mentioned on the thread,  but saw this and thought it was interesting:

Never been for dinner (I’ve heard mixed reviews), but we’ve been to the bakery on Saturday mornings and that’s been really good.

If anyone want to do any good works, my wife just got some note that RM Bistro (Walnut Hill and Audelia) is having some financial issues.  According to wife, the note said that weekends are fine, but always slow in summer on the weekdays.

Last time I was there sat at the bar and it was very good.

Do Lake Highlands a solid if you get a chance.

It is very good.  I believe we are going there on Sunday for brunch to celebrate a birthday but have yet to be fully briefed on the details.

Roots Southern Table was damn good. Are there any better 2am raid the fridge snacks than leftover duck fat fried chicken?

I would also add that they have a large patio space, and who the fuck wants to be outside before the sun goes down right now.

Really want to do the brunch at bistro, saw a pic of the cinnamon roll a while back.

speaking of that area, how the eff does resident taqueria stay afloat when they shut down for a week here or there plus every sun/mon closed. Blows my mind. Good food and ppl but a head scratcher.

Yes, my wife got the same note.  It was an Instagram post.  We've been meaning to go again soon and kid free this Thurs night so got a reservation.   It's really good, but for us at least, we don't make it as often because when we don't have kids it seems like we either want to do something super casual or do a big night out so a nice meal in Lake Highlands rarely hits what we are looking for.  But need to make more of an effort to get there.

Went to gorji earlier this week for my bday dinner it was fucking amazing. Thanks for that rec, my first time ever going. My cousin also got me in at Petra and the Beast this weekend. So ready

We finally made it here last weekend.  Agreed really damn good.  Pricey for 4 course + Champagne, bottle of wine and coffee after but amazing food/experience and definitely on my list to hit up at least once a year going forward.

Checking out roots this weekend.  Excited to try it!

That uchi/uchiba happy hour continues to slam/slap/go hard/generally fuck.

Heard on The Ticket this AM that two DFW-area restaurants were named to the NY Times' Best 50 Restaurants in America -- Sister and a BBQ/Ethiopian place in Arlington called Smoke'N Ash BBQ.

Smoke n ash is pretty good but it’s the best Ethiopian/ Texas bbq place you’ll ever go to. That being said, it’s not anywhere near the best barbecue in Tarrant Counry. It was very good when I tried it out but it’s not Goldee’s, or Hurtado or Heim.

Went to Rise no1 for the first time in about 6 years tonight. What a great place. Service was top notch and the food put me back in a Paris bistro. My kids had a blast as well.

Inwood Village? That's right down the street from my house but I've never been.

Yep. Go for a date night or a family dinner.

Went to Far Out for the second time last night with my best college friend and the wives. He went to HS with Chris Jeffers and they’ve been friends forever. Anyway, it was our first time since Misti was cooking there.

It’s a cool spot and I appreciate what they’re doing there. Then dishes are meant to be shared and the most expensive thing on menu was $28. Chris came by and hung out with us for a bit. The aim is to keep it affordable for more people, partly because of their location just east of Fair Park.

Misti (Petra and the Beast) is there full time now. She started on a temp basis after she closed Petra. Chris’s initial chef was supposed to be the guy from The Green Room but he had health issues (brain tumor, I think) and was never able to start. Misti offered to help while they waited for the Green Room guy to get well enough but never made it. Misti is there permanently now.

Anyway, it was pretty good. I thought both desserts were a miss, though.

I keep meaning to go there. I sent a friend from my workout class and she said it was really good. SWMBO however probably wouldn’t like Misti’s more adventurous choices for foods though.

We went Mamani for a birthday dinner this week. I know there was a lot of pearl clutching when it got its star after being open only a few weeks and with only a 2 week Michelin review time window. The reasoning was that the French chef was well known from Joel Rubuchon in Las Vegas and they could immediately tell that he brought it.

My verdict is that the star is deserved. Wow! What a meal. It was perfect. The service was personal (called us by names on the reservation, every single person who approached the table acknowledged the birthday in a low key way, a personal note on the table, ...) and professional and flawless. The cocktails were superb. The wine list may be the best in Dallas. And each dish was truly excellent. It was impossible for us to pick our favorites, although the Paris-Brest dessert was memorable because I had seen the bakers try to make that dessert on British Bake Off and never thought I would actually have one. It's a big and expensive night out, but put it on your special occasion list.

Suggestion: there are some tables in the lobby area, including two that are close to and face the kitchen. Get one of those. They are not in the fancy formal dining room. The cold air when the door opens will hit you. You are essentially in the lobby, but it is all worth it to watch the brigade in kitchen and hear the French chefs call out orders and the responses. The chef came over to check on us a couple of times. It was quite a show if you like that sort of thing.
