seems like you could say some nice sounding words about empathy and compassion without minimizing the a)actual poverty of the young and working class and b)slow backslide into poverty of the middle class, which btw seems like something that dem candidates should raise as a concern since GOP folks will never stop talking about Trumps kickass economy (which is about as good for average Americans as Texas' athletic department profits are for average Longhorns).

One might say there is a spending problem in the LH athletic department as well.  The money coming in has never been better for the Feds or LH athletics.

Joe is right, the Republicans are going to wake up and want to work across the aisle if Trump loses.

Nice poll for Warren.

Her emergence is not good for Bernie.

Useful reminder, from new qpoll:

% of voters who "haven't heard enough" to form an opinion about:

Trump: 2%

poll confirms what everybody already knows - 98% of america has heard enough.

Poor Tulsi, already playing the victim.  She should definitely be president

Q Poll 04/30

Biden - 38
Sanders - 11
Warren - 12
Harris - 8
Buttigieg - 10
O'Rourke - 5

Q Poll 05/21

Biden - 35 (-3)
Sanders - 16 (+5)
Warren - 13 (+1)
Harris - 8 (even)
Buttigieg - 5 (-5)
O'Rourke - 2 (-3)

If Warren is climbing among monied, very liberal whites, that's taking from Buttigieg, not Bernie. Bernie's strongest support is among non-whites and sub-$100k folks.

The Great White Hopes of Pete and Beto down a combined 8 points.

Everyone is still kind of within the margin of error 5 point spread so the perceived movement might not be that statistically significant. What was the polling the month prior?

I'd guess Warren is taking from Buttigieg and Bernie in this poll.

Also here is net favoribility:

Biden: +10

Buttigieg: +4

Harris: -3

Sanders: -7

Booker: -8

Warren: -9

O'Rourke: -12

Pete's got a TON of work to do, but still has a lot of potential to move up significantly.  I think his chances to win the primary are tied to Biden hopefully falling off the map at some point.

This whole thing feels kinda like when you're watching a basketball game and a team is getting blown out, but manage to hit a few 3's in a row and the announcers pretend to get excited and exclaim that "THE LEAD IS NOW DOWN TO 20!"  Each candidate will have their moment that brings a temporary thrill, but it just feels like Biden is SO FAR ahead.

Still convinced this primary truly begins on June 26th/27th with the first debates. A good or bad moment for a candidate will be incredibly amplified.

Biden’s strategy is to not lose.  He’s playing prevent defense with the Aggy secondary.  He might win but this is far from over.

The treatment of her by the media is disgusting.

Whether it's MSM or "alt-media" on the left, it seems like almost every major D candidate has been treated unfairly. Feels like Warren is the only one (so far) that has avoided getting in someone's crosshairs.

The Gabbard campaign has received 75,000 individual donations. This crazy Beast article is based on (maybe) three of them.

The three names are professor Stephen Cohen, activist Sharon Tennison and someone using the name “Goofy Grapes,” who may or may not have once worked for comedian Lee Camp, currently employed by Russia Today.

This vicious little article might have died a quiet death, except ABC’s George Stephanopoulos regurgitated it in an interview with Gabbard days later. The This Week host put up the Beast headline in a question about whether or not Gabbard was “softer” on Putin than other candidates.

I don't think Biden, Harris, Beta, Mayor Pete, etc., are being smeared this egregiously by the press.

Yeah, Gabbard is probably getting picked on the most. It's not fair, but is it surprising? She's running a campaign targeting "neocons and neolibs" and her message is dominated by a strong anti-imperialism stance (which I respect and admire BTW).  If there's one thing the majority of Americans love, it's that we are the United States of Fucking America. Her message is crucial, but this country doesn't seem ready for it yet.

Who is coach Orgeron in this scenario?

Is Beto the LSU assistant that gets punched in the pacemaker?

I'm guessing the DNC are the refs that were in the tank for aggy.

Tulsi is her own worst enemy.  She says shit that makes it hard to take her seriously.  The Kremlin is clearly trying to boost her campaign, for whatever reason (I don’t know), but she’s not forcefully denouncing and rejecting their efforts.  I’m not saying she’s a Russia asset or anything but she’s too much of an apologist and false equivalency stooge for some pretty bad guys.

Not a bad analogy.  I still blame LSU for losing, they had plenty of opportunities to win.

Trump is trying to pick his opponents like every authoritarian but Tulsi isn’t in his calculation.  I see her as more of a Jill Stein useful idiot disruptive candidate that Russia wants to juice a little.

Democrats: "I've got it!"

Interesting that 2011 def vote against Obama is equivalent to the size of Trump’s current base.

There was a fivethirtyeight link to a poll floating around here that documented Trump's faves and unfaves compared to other presidents and his unfaves are significantly higher than anyone in history, except Bush late into his second term.  They start off in the mid 50's from Day 1 and haven't moved.

This election might be a blood bath, especially as he becomes more unhinged.  I can see him refusing to debate Biden (or whoever) and just campaigns by going to rallies.  Meanwhile, the Democratic nominee just runs a normal campaign talking about issues like health care.

Last week, the Daily Beast ran this headline: “Tulsi Gabbard’s Campaign Is Being Boosted by Putin Apologists”

That was followed by the sub headline: “The Hawaii congresswoman is quickly becoming the top candidate for Democrats who think the Russian leader is misunderstood.”

If you can't see how the media is trying to control the narrative on Tulsi being a Putin apologist then you are either trolling or obtuse.  My bet's on the latter.

I don't think Tulsi is a Putin puppet, but she does appear to be Putin's favorite Dem candidate.

The Russian propaganda machine that tried to influence the 2016 U.S. election is now promoting the presidential aspirations of a controversial Hawaii Democrat who earlier this month declared her intention to run for president in 2020.

An NBC News analysis of the main English-language news sites employed by Russia in its 2016 election meddling shows Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, who is set to make her formal announcement Saturday, has become a favorite of the sites Moscow used when it interfered in 2016.

Puty's ultimate goal is to break up NATO and it's definitely interesting that Tulsi refrained from voting on the NATO support bill.

Well “Russia Today”, the Russian government media, loves Tulsi.  I don’t know why that is but it’s an observation and Tulsi is saying it’s “fake news”.  So who is being obtuse?

Her pretending like this isn’t happening or significant is insulting.

She can at least acknowledge it’s occurring and say something like, “I have no control over what Russia media does and I don’t want or need their support.”

As I said in the Bernie thread when you were melting down over his ~*~*~ Russian Connections ~*~*~, her saying this would do no good. You cannot reason and logic someone out of a position they didn't reason and logic their way into.

Hey, I’m all good with Bernie after he released his tax returns.  I still question his judgment when came time to punish oligarchs with sanctions but nobody is perfect.  I have no reason to believe he’s up to anything nefarious.
