Texas Softball 2025 - Sick of Being Second Place

Patty is a cut throat, arrogant bitch. The worse part is that she flashes that Mr Ed smile and hides her true self behind the illusion of being a bible thumper. Her kids have been mediocre as coaches when they have tried to ween themselves from momma’s teets. Her players actions are a reflection of their coaches true self.

I just hate the bitch for letting the trend of over celebrating walks and singles start in softball.     It's so damn annoying watching, glad we don't see much of it on the horns team.

So should be Florida.

Should be

Will be interesting to see if they avoid using Rothrock game 1. Texas did not see her at all in Gainesville

if the committee goes strictly by RPI (they won't), Texas is top 8 - #8 in this morning's RPI

However, 3 teams we finished ahead of in SEC play are 2, 6 and 7, so they have to adjust RPI quite a bit

aggy (1), OU (3), Texas (8), UCLA (4), FSU (5) seem very secure - there's 5 of the 8

Tenn is 10, Florida is 2, arky is 6 and LSU 7.  Of those, I think Tenn is a top 8 seed, since they finished in the top 4 of the SEC.  I don't think arky or LSU should be, so someone like Arizona (RPI 11) could get a bump (2nd in the Big 12, but regular season winner Tech is #20).  Oregon is 13th but 45-5 on the year and won the B1G regular season by 2 games.

If I had to put my money on who gets top 8:

aggy
OU
Texas
UCLA
FSU
Tennessee
Arizona/Florida
Oregon

The overall #1 seed as of right now, to me, is OU, but aggy could sneak in if they win the SEC tournament.  I think the committee would also be very happy with 2 or 3 west coast seeds, 3 middle of the country seeds and 2 or 3 east coast seeds.  Would make scheduling and travel a lot easier.

if we are not top 8 seed, I don't think we make OKC.  Just not feelin it with this team.

I don’t see how a top 3 SEC team with a top 8 RPI doesn’t get a top 8 seed. Beating Florida to open the SECT would cement it

A google search will reveal a myriad of projections,  mostly unreliable.  D1 and On3 have projections behind a paywall.   Can't recall which but one had us as a 3 seed behind OU and aggy with Washington here as a 2 seed.  Others had Nebraska or Virginia here as a 2 seed.

Florida may be a tough out.   Argument can be made at present they are the hottest team in the league.

Texas will surely get a top 8. The real question is where do teams like Nebraska and Texas Tech go for supers? Facing Bahl or Canady at least twice in a three game series is to tough ask.

Send Tech to Norman, Nebraska to Knoxville

They wouldn’t want to send bahl back to Norman?  I mean, attendance won’t be an issue no matter but they do love their matchups.

Fine, then send Tech west to UCLA (they won’t but I wish they would)

Also you have OKST there needing to go to Norman or Austin or CS (or Arky I guess)

Deep down you all know Tech is getting sent to Austin

This is exactly my thought as well. Texas will have to find a way to score 3 runs off Canady, because I don't think Tech would get more than 2 off of Kavan.

Kentucky trails UGA 8-0 in the 5th after yet another stunningly bad error in a season full of them. The best play they've made today was an outfield assist by sophomore RF Peyton Plotts, who also has hit .335 this year (with power). I agree with @Js1 that she'd be a solid addition for us in 2026, were she to find her way down to Austin. She's way too good to stay on a team this bad.

Kentucky should make a change. But they probably won’t. But I wouldn’t be surprised by an exodus

A bunch of players voting with their feet might send the AD a message. Maybe Fall's most likely to bolt, given that she's a SE Texas girl. Of course, Plotts is the obvious plum. Her being a hometown player from Lexington could make her a tough pull, but I'd love to see Texas try.

The players won’t revolt on Lawson. She is a nice lady…. But a shitty coach

Not that it matters this late -

ESPN/USA Today - #5 (3 first place votes).  aggy, OU, tenn shuffled around and Florida jumped us for taking 2/3 from OU
D1 Softball - #2
Softball America - #6 (they punished us the most harshly for the OU sweep, but we moved up 1 spot)
NFCA - #3 (2 first place votes)

No day 1 upsets in the SECT:

#12 Georgia 8-0 over #13 Kentucky
#11 Ole Miss 1-0 over #14 Missouri
#10 Alabama 3-2 over #15 Auburn

DAY 2:

#8 MSST vs #9 LSU (10am) - winner plays #1 OU
#5 Arky vs #12 Georgia (1pm) - winner plays #4 Tennesssee
#6 Florida vs #11 Ole Miss (4pm) - winner plays #3 Texas
#7 South Carolina vs #10 Alabama (7pm) - winner plays #2 aggy

LSU wins 5-0. So through the first four games of the tournament, only one losing team has even scored, and that was a grand total of two runs.

LSU also threw Heavner, not Berzon.  Saving their ace for OU.  What I also predict Florida will do, throw Brown or Hammock and try to save Rothrock for Texas.
