Boy, when Wulaw gets on one of his sunshine-pumping heaters, look the fuck out. It gets contagious and suddenly the board is convinced that Texas has a grand plan and, just like PeeWee Herman, meant to do that.

I’m hopeful, but I’ve heard enough bullshit over the last few years that ultimately failed to materialize with the portal that I remain from Missouri until Brandon Harris and Steven & 5 prove otherwise.

I’m in the same boat. As long as Sark still running the show, I’m bearish on our championship hopes until he can show us something other than what he’s put forth in 5 seasons. Is the Muschamp hire going to change his stubborn play calling and personnel decisions? How many times do we need to lose to OSU, Georgia and the like before we realize Sark in his current form is overmatched against elite coaches/rosters.

To me, the Muschamp move made Sark look even less accountable and his ego is one of the main reasons keeping this program from where it should be.

FWIW I was speaking to a member of our coaching staff this morning and they said Wisner was shown an early preview of the Surly site rework and you could just see in that moment him making his decision to leave Austin.

It adds up to a certain degree. Wisner's ego got involved, he felt disrespected, asked for a big number, got rebuffed on that, didn't attend future meetings, heard the talk about bringing in a bell cow, and it all snowballed.

I think Wisner and his team misread his position with the team and didn't like reality.

It makes sense for Wisner to leave if they staff didnt even think enough of him to meet with him after the season to talk about it.

Dude had a good 2 year run here. He needs to go chase the biggest payday for his final season, then invest it to have interest payments coming in for years to come.

Dude they met with him, then after they turned down his million asking price, he choose not to meet with them and just have his representatives meet with Texas.

Well fuck. I said I’d make you GM and I meant it. Now I’m going tO go ahead and panic and just assume Steven and 5 Is checked out and we will lose everyone and add JAG’s. Merry Xmas asshole.

But seriously, is this just you being dark or is there really not a plan? That seems almost impossible to fathom in an offseason where you replace a top 10 DC with a better guy.

Sark killed his first offseason here after 5-7 and it made me think he was going to do well here. If he kills this offseason we are probably off and running to multiple titles or at least peak Mack Brown era success cycle. If he doesn’t nail this offseason we will know by 1/17 and can start measuring the coffin then. Have you seen me post about Ut hoops in 5 years? Did you see me post about David Pearce baseball team? Yeah, no, bc I am not a pumper. If this off-season gets fucked I think Sark knows it isn’t ever going to happen. That kind of thing can motivate a guy. No need to panic until it actually gets fucked up.

I add that to lead into the two weeks following the Texas A&M game bothered Wisner to an extent. From two different sources, Texas never sat down with Wisner to lay out a plan for the 2026 season which did not sit well with him.

The way I look at CFB now is the way I look at any right to work employee. There's no longer an attachment to a single player for me unless they're here for at least 3 years and have played significant snaps. If not, I don't care if they leave. This is no longer the days of Colt McCoy, the Shipley bros, Sergio Kindle, Brian Orakpo, Michael Griffin, Aaron Ross, VY, etc and so forth. These days kids are on their 6th school (not even close to hyperbole), so why care until they've actually put in the work and stayed, right? I'm happy when we sign great classes, but until they contribute, they might as well be invisible. If they haven't don't anything by their true Jr or RS Soph year, it's whatever.

I have no idea whether or not there’s a legit plan and, if so, whether or not it is a good plan. I don’t think anyone knows.

Part of the problem with anyone receiving information right now is the reliability of the source. These guys have been bullish on things or viewed things as a given and then been dead wrong, and lately.

We had the worst RB room in the SEC despite spending more than 2M on players. Thats an indictment on Choice’s evaluations and our allocation of resources. It had to be torn down to the studs and rebuilt. This is a great development for Texas.

I don't see how injuries to the RB room can be attributed to Choice. Maxwell looked good his freshman season (I know there are some here that disagree) and Christian Clark was by all accounts very good before tearing his achilles.

Ok. I will go back to being happy then of you haven’t reviewed the plan and view it to suck.

Bobby and the other 9.95 guys seem to be talking like the plan is to let anyone not key and awesome fuck off and recruit over them in the portal, which I like. If they’ve misread the tea leaves that’s obviously a disaster bc you are losing floor setters right now. You can’t pay for floor setters and expect to win it all though, imo.

“Maxwell” never looked good. That was a bad spend from the word go.

Well this isn’t encouraging. When I think about the complexity of managing portal additions and subtractions, I would think it gets pretty complicated.

You think you have a guy, but then someone just comes in over the top with a much bigger number and you realize you’re doubly screwed. You let guys walk and didn’t get better replacements.

When I think about the type of person/people who can thrive in that environment, it needs to be someone who is thorough and a very strong planner, combined with the ability to make fast, bold decisions, and the personal magnetism to sway players their way. That’s a pretty tough set of personality characteristics to have in just a one or a few people.

My reason for optimism is that we were so bad at the position that it will be difficult to see a lower floor if we spend the same amount of money. Even if we just sign two random guys for 500k we are likely to see improvement and spend less. So basically my optimism is mostly around the fact that we had done such a poor job that just resetting the room has a high probability of improving the situation, even if incompetence is part of the process.

Completely disagree. He showed burst, blocking ability and excellent hands. He needed to learn how to finish runs and hit the hole faster, both of which are coachable.

Clark was on campus for all of what, a week? before tearing his achilles? “by all accounts” are the same accounts telling us ahead of this season that this team could win a title or that Kyle Flood would have his pick of the litter in OL recruiting.

As to “Maxwell”, if you are talking about Baxter, the biggest problem with him, which made him a completely limited asset, is that he refused to play when even mildly dinged up. That was true as a freshman and this year, and that helped keep the room in a constant state of flux. If he hadn’t been such a pussy, he might have wound up being great as a freshman.

Many of you guys have a very low expectation for the RB room.

Tends to happen when all their sources are yes men.

With LSU losing their entire offensive line in the portal, Flood and company will have competition finding three new starters.

I knew a Gregg Sheena who graduated from UT. Grayson is probably his kid. I should have kicked Gregg in the nads when I knew him.
