What is a good rate? As in they feed, bathroom, and stay at your house and veg out on whatever is in the fridge for a Saturday night. $50?

Try to find a local teen/college student on NextDoor, since they are almost out for summer and are happy for the extra cash. We will be looking for the same deal in a few weeks. I searched on NextDoor in our area and the "pro" middle aged hippy loons that do this for a living want $75+ for overnight stays. Might as well just use Trusted Housesitters.

Unfortunately yes. Only 6-7 more years till they stop being batshit crazy puppies.

I pay $100 a night for someone to stay at the house overnight, walk/feed the dogs, etc. We use high school / college kids that we know so I’m fine overpaying them. We also want them walked in the morning and late afternoon and let out at lunch, so I’m fine paying a little extra for all that.

$75-$125

find a local friend, neighbor, etc as rover, et al people tend to be terrible.

literally, people place flyers on telephone poles in neighborhoods. they are going to care WAY more than people on rover.

if you have time, find someone new on rover and hire them to just walk your dog a few times. convert them offline to dog sit over night.

We use the hell out of trusted housesitters. Have had nothing but great experiences with the service and it has saved me a ton of money.

We pay $60/night in Houston. Our dogsitter is a mid-20’s school teacher that dog/housesits for extra cash. Found her on Rover initially and then converted her to offline after a couple of stays. She’s amazing and our dog adores her so I usually throw some extra $$ on top when I Venmo her after a stay.

That's what we pay for 2 dogs, with house sitting, watering and all that.   We get texts with pictures every morning and evening.  And by monitoring doors opening and closing, we can see how much time she is spending with them, letting them out, etc. And it's great.

Agreed, great service, we used it in Mexico and we're using it for my house in Austin this summer for our Asia trip.

The only problem is finding people interested in a 2 night stay, which can be difficult if you don't live in a palatial party mansion.
