What does Coach K have to do with WP? Also, Duke playing in Rose Hill would be cool.

Wait wut?  Google is your friend. See also Bobby Knight & WP.

Texas over UCONN and Nova is wild. I don’t think anyone can legitimately claim we have been a better program than them the past 30 years.

shows how crazy up-and-down uconn has been these last ~30 years, and how crazy successful they’ve been in the tourney.

I have always been impressed with KenPom’s analysis and like how you post shit from him during the season but this list is straight up trash. 6 championships from UCONN and 2 for Nova trumps 1 Final Four by any measure.

it’s not a rating of which programs have been the best overall, it’s just the aggregate kenpom ratings from 1997-2025. a program that made the tourney 22-23 times being rated slightly higher then one that missed it a bunch of times and also won it like three different times on down years isn’t super surprising. uconn is the program that every other program envies accomplishments-wise, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t fielded more than their share of shitty teams since 1997, which obviously impacts their aggregate rating.

and just to simplify it for those who might not know, your kenpom ratings is the difference in your adjusted offense (AdjO, or ORtg now) minus your AdJ (DRtg). each rating is based on points per 100 possessions, weighted for sos. so if you play in a tough conference and you win 20-25 games per year you’re probably going to have a pretty high aggregate rating over a period of time, even if your program struggles in the tourney.

According to CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander, the number of college basketball games played in a season is set to increase. Norlander reports beginning with the 2026-2027 season, teams can play 32 games. They will not be required to but the move allows programs to schedule more nonconference games any given year.
