after 4 games

Rushing yard leaders

  • Gibson 155
  • Manning 123
  • Simon 117
  • Clark 115

Who had that after 4 games? Need to get our 1st team RBs healthy

Nice having DeAndre Moore back as well. Made a difference in the passing game Saturday.

Do y'all think we'd recruit Shipley if he had too many kicks blocked at TXST due to a low trajectory? How many were blocked last year?

I don't know, I don't have a fucking encyclopedic knowledge of Texas State football statistics for 2024. I do feel like it's safe to say that Shipley will consistently be playing taller, faster, more athletic players this season than he did last year, who can potentially do things like jump higher with longer arms.

True, but I've gotta believe we have technology that can assess things like trajectory and velocity on kicks. Similar to a golf monitor. Surely, Banks looked into those metrics too. Right?

I just want to see more of Simon. No idea if he sucks in pass pro, but he has been the most impressive RB for me this season. Ill be the first to admit it is a small sample size, but I would like to see if it is more than just that.

I'm not confident in making that assumption based on what we've seen from Banks over the last couple of years.

Simon has gotta lead the RBs in both YPC and YAC thus far, right? No, I didn't look it up yet.

Wisner is #1 with 5.0, which is sad. (The 5.0 being sad. After 3 cupcakes, you would hope multiple people would be up around 6)

And Wisner’s one game was Ohio State.

vs light boxes that led to 0 scores. So YIPPEEE!!!

I have Simon so high, because he had 67 yards after contact and 5 broken tackles in his debut vs UTEP. That was impressive, since he had 17 carries for 67 yards.

I'm not as down on the run game as y'all are. Maybe I'm being naive, but Clark and Gibson seem improved since last week. Wisner and Baxter are known quantities and good RBs, if somewhat limited. Simon looks to be the next bellcow.

Run blocking needs to improve but getting Stroh off the line will probably help with that. I can see a lineup with Hutson at RG and Robertson at C being what we need to finally have the OL all on the same page.

They're still weak at the point of attack and lack any kind of push in clear running situations. But that's the same shit as the last several seasons. And our running was more or less fine. Not elite, but good enough to win and make the CFP.

I guess what I'm saying is the ceiling is still limited, but the floor is higher than I thought it would be after last week.

Clark definitely ran the plays how they're supposed to be run and blocked, IMO. Not as much hesitation. Of course, the holes were bigger and easier to see too.

Gibson seemed to run thru contact better with more lean.

In what world is OU's offense way ahead of ours? They've looked pretty bad in their games, and that's with their QB playing well and not having the yips.

Right now that game is a toss up. Depends on which Arch shows up, and which team can decently run it.

We actually average more per game than they do on offense now. Granted they get Kent State soon, so that should help their averages across the board.  They did need the refs help against Auburn to around 20 points to barely survive a team without a QB.

Waiting to see Clark's lateral cutting ability to show up in missed tackles. He seems to go down at first contact. You can see his cutting ability but waiting to see it translate.

Yeah, I don't remember seeing any jump cuts from him against SHSU. At least he's running the plays correctly now.

I don't think we can take much, at all, away from the SHSU game. They're horrendous.

Otherwise, it was nice to see Arch not bouncing passes all over the place.
