Captains' agreement. Before the contest started this week they agreed if someone couldn't play a singles match due to injury it would be deemed a tie & each would get a half point t.
I think it was more about she had a bad contract & needed a few more years to be eligible for her pension. The brass tried to ditch her a couple years ago but the announcers banded together & said "fuck you, do the right thing or we all make it ugly."
Well, NBC that promotes the shit out of the sportsmanship aspect and award throughout the competition for one. Plus the fact that the match is already over means they've got 5+ hours of air to fill so they've gotta try and push the "feel good" story during an event that hasn't had any so far.
But I guess the simple answer is, your prolapsed rectum.
If I squint, only Harris. And that's only due to Hovland being injured.
And as funny as it is to imagine the Euros conceding so they can get the celebration started early, I think they're going to enjoy drubbing the shit out of the US. Force the shitty American fans to listen to the Ole chants all afternoon long.
So who will they choose as the Nicklaus Jacklin award recipient? Does JT earn it by spending half his time trying to quiet the American crowds to no avail? Of course the other half of the time he's trying to hype them up when his partner's nailed a putt to bail their ass out.
Maybe they give it to Rory simply for having to put up with the disgraceful actions of the American "fans" all weekend long. After reading the article from Golf Digest that @4th&Five linked not only does he deserve it, but if he took his driver upside the skull of one of those assholes I'd raise a pint glass to him.
Or here's a thought: once Europe earns 2.5 points to get them to 14--which they could do by the 4th match--Luke Donald could instruct his team to concede every remaining match. Europe retains the Cup at 14 - 14 1/2, the Americans have to eat a plate of shit knowing that they were gifted twice the points they earned to prevent an ass whipping for the record books, and Luke gets the sportsmanship award.
Rory doesn't take the bait when asked if the crowd went too far. Smart. Now when they boat race the US tomorrow he should blow kisses and raise his champagne bottles to them.
