AAS today quoted Pierce as saying WVU’s travel plans permit a delay if needed. (on mobile, busy, can’t post link) You are right about play in game. I was not aware in earlier post. WVU, Kansas, and KSt currently tied for last place.

Will the Ducks be saved by the rain ? Rain forecast to begin in Austin at 6AM, Sat. Seems to not be heavy, scattered, threat of lightning. Likely will be delays and a late evening, but a chance to play. Sunday predicts about the same, more t/s. Monday, 50% chance. (disclaimer: not a weather person, just a sports fan) https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/7472a7bbd3a7454aadf596f0ba7dc8b08987b1f7581fae69d8817dffffc487c2

Mike White's press conf today including Oregon media. He seems torqued about the matchup with Oregon ("politics") (opening comments and 5:28). Addresses the evils of social media and fan behavior at 13:27. Other questions about leaving Oregon and their team. 17 minutes worth your time.

Did not age well, my friend ! 🙂

USA Today tasked sports writers who cover softball to predict the Regionals. Click on link if you are interested in other Regionals. Interesting that the writers are from the SEC and Oklahoma. No doubt, Mike White will have to do his best to focus the team to prevent the distraction of playing Oregon. Especially a challenge for Rhodes, Burke, and Iakopo. Overall, I think we have more experience than Oregon, especially coaching. Oregon Coach Lombardi is no stranger to McCombs after being here many times as an OU pitching coach. But alot more pressure when you are the head coach in your first postseason appearance with not many players that have played in the postseason. If Shea continues to pitch well, defense is solid, and Rhodes breaks her slump, the Cinderalla story for Oregon and those that favor them will end. https://www.hookem.com/story/sports/2021/05/19/ncaa-softball-picking-winners-every-regional-super-regional-and-wcws-womens-college-world-series/5128247001/ Austin Regional Ryan Aber, The Oklahoman: Texas – The regional with the most intrigue, but Oregon has struggled against top competition while the Longhorns are 39-4 against teams other than Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Will Backus, Knoxville News Sentinel: Oregon – The Ducks were at least competitive with the Pac-12's top teams, taking at least a game against the likes of UCLA, Arizona and Arizona State. Eric Blum, Columbia (Mo.) Daily Tribune: Texas – A near coin-flip decision between the Longhorns and Oregon. Even with two good mid-majors to complete this regional, Texas has been too good throughout the year not to pick. Tommy Deas, SEC cross-team leader: Oregon – The Ducks get to end the season for their former coach, Mike White, on Texas' home field. And don't call it an upset. Aria Gerson, The Tennessean: Texas – Oregon will be a tough matchup here, but ultimately the Ducks struggled against the Pac-12’s top teams, which gives the Longhorns the advantage. Brett Greenberg, The Tuscaloosa News: Oregon – This was a pick-em between the Ducks and the Longhorns. I'm taking Oregon in two games to advance. Graham Hays, guest expert: Oregon – If Oregon's Brooke Yanez beat UCLA twice this season, she can beat the Longhorns twice in Austin. Scott Wright, The Oklahoman: Oregon – The most intriguing regional field in the tournament and the Ducks pull the upset over their former coach.

- Interesting to see how team performs after 11 day break. Pros/cons either way. Pro is they know they are playing for a conference title. - WVU also has incentive. Playing for last spot in conference tournament. Currently tied with Kansas and WVU has tiebreaker after taking 2/3 from Kansas. Kansas plays Tech in Lubbock. - WVU currently last in conference in hitting (.254) and fielding(.960), 7th in pitching (5.12) Randy Mazey is well respected coach, 5 years at TCU, not sure of problem. Like Schloss, they rarely sacrifice but run alot. - Pierce is 4-5 vs WVU. iirc Augie wasn't much better. They have always been a tough out.
-
https://www.secsports.com/standings/baseball Probably because they are currently in first place in the SEC East ahead of Vandy and Florida. Two 1 run losses to Ark this past weekend. All 3 games decided by 1 run. Go easy on the Vols - my fav Frank Anderson is pitching coach. 🙂
-
When Pierce moved to coach 3B, he commented that he felt the hitters would be more relaxed if he was not in the dugout. Guessing because he may have made comments as they went to on deck. (He may have been covering for Allen, but those were his words) Tulo now occupies that position by the steps to the on deck circle. Let's not mess with success. And let's hope Tulo is not offered a head coaching job.

Cancelled midafternoon yesterday. Could have played afternoon game. 70% + chance of t/s beginning at 7PM.

From the TCU board. 😊 Those Frog fans can be pretty cool. They do hate aggy and Baylor. Srsly, I think TCU may have locker room problems. Haylen Green, their ace closer, had been suspended for unknown reasons (per rumor) until last weekend. And a wild guess, they may think Schloss is leaving. BrewingFrog, Today at 5:13 PM "Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today to bid farewell to a National Seed. It seemed in the best of health last Friday, until towards evening it began coughing up blood. It rallied on Saturday, feebly regaining it's feet until Sunday, when it swooned into a faint and began coughing up blood again. But. the fancy machines at the Big Building With Doctors said there was still life, although to a casual observer it looked awfully dead, but hope was still with us that it might rally once again. Alas, on Friday night, the Big Building With Doctors suffered a power outage, and the life support was turned off. Then, on Saturday afternoon, a piano inexplicably fell on the corpse as it was being wheeled to the morgue. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Frog Club. Amen." https://forum.killerfrogs.com/index.php?threads/ulm-at-tcu-doubleheader.227557/page-10

Great job with the updates/comments, LT ! Was not able to see or follow the game. MW has not done well this year. - Key was OKSt game with Whitaker PH with bases loaded. Pressure/experience a factor for a freshman. K Washington was avail (LH batter) who HR'd against Iowa St and singled today. Didn't need a HR, just a single. Even go with A Wash, freshman, but with a compact swing. We beat OKSt and confidence is back. Shea deserved to win that game. Then he brings her out to pitch against Iowa St. - Reviewing box score, Tech scored 3 runs in top of 5th with 2 out. Unknown reason he pulls Jacobsen for Day with 2 outs, no one on. Day gives up 2 singles, BB, and PB, then he brings back Jacobsen who gives up a 2 run double. Shea returns in the 6th. Terrible. - Rhodes was 2/3 against Iowa St but did not play today. - Ryleigh White did not appear. Seems to have regressed, certainly not improved over the year. - I am beginning to think Chelsea Spencer (former asst) and Kailee Cuico (grad asst) were very key for this team and Mike White for instruction and morale. Not impressed with the new asst Bartlett.
-
Super job by Shea ! Can't let one loss become 2 or more, not necessarily for B12 tourn but for Regional. Rhodes and others need to relax - easier said than done.

No PI experience, but it sounds like you are aware GEICO will not "play nice" during this litigation. There is a stigma (right or wrong) associated with elderly drivers about their qualifications to drive. So it may be a point of contention. Has your Dad's insurance company commented ? Best of luck to you and your great Dad !

Thanks for those projections ! If MW returns to Eugene he will need Secret Service protection. Will be interesting to see how the committee rates strength of schedule since so many schedules/tournaments affected by Covid.

Summary of the service from AAS (excerpts). Tom Herman attended. Thoughts and prayers for the Ehlinger Family and for the Longhorn Nation to heal. The 90-minute ceremony was solemn yet uplifting. The altar was decorated by two framed jerseys. His blue No. 36 Westlake jersey was complemented by the orange and white Longhorn No. 48 jersey. His closed casket was draped with orange and white flowers. A slide presentation showed the family in happy times at home, on vacations, at games. Sam Ehlinger, speaking with pride and strength, recalled his "best brother and friend" always had a positive attitude about life. He was a "glass half-full, never glass half-empty" type of person. He said Jake would have wanted the audience to remember all the good times they shared together. "As I'm coping and dealing with these emotions, I try to remember that, and I challenge you to remember that as well," said Sam, who was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts just two weeks ago. "Jake would say, hey, you got 20 years of me. You got 20 years of laughter. You got 20 years of happiness. You got 20 years of love." Speaking of Anderson, he was among Jake's 10 pallbearers. The list included friends and teammates Luke Brockermeyer, Barrett Chambers, Blake Chambers, Trellis Collins, Will Rose, Michael Taaffe, Robert Taaffe, Josh Thompson and Nakia Watson. Former University of Texas football coach Tom Herman also attended the service. Herman was responsible for allowing Jake to join the Longhorns as a walk-on player. Several former and current staff members boarded two charter buses from the university to the attend the event. "Jake was never really the same after my dad passed," Sam said. "He was his best friend and they had this quiet connection. He was never really the same, but now he's back with him. Who knows what they're doing now? Jake's probably doing flips and they're going crazy up there." A Jake Ehlinger memorial scholarship fund has been established through The University of Texas and donations can be made at https://give.utexas.edu/ https://www.statesman.com/story/sports/2021/05/12/jake-ehlinger-sam-brother-funeral-longhorns-westlake-linebacker/5055910001/

Kenny Gajewski (OkSt) must not be respected by the other coaches. Great job ! May be a gender issue with the other coaches who vote. Winning the conf does not always equate to the best coaching job. Gasso's 9th consecutive CoY award - Mulkey type hate for her. Watching aggy/Tenn as I type, SEC tourn. aggy has some good players, many from Houston area. Like us, they lack that uber elite pitcher. Hope MW continues to put emphasis on Houston area.

Tech alum, born in Denton. As @texasstrong12 earlier mentioned, Schlossnagle was very close to taking the Miss St job (see below) and some reports say he turned down the job. So like all successful coaches, he is not afraid of another conference. You have to wonder about his relationship with the new AD Donati and the need for upgrades to their facilities. He has mentioned that the cost of tuition is an issue for recruiting. Per reports, Saarloos turned down the Stanford job a couple of years ago in his home state. He may be content as a pitching guru. As mentioned, best for all if Schloss and Tadlock stay in B12. We need a strong RPI conference. I hope aggy settles for Matt Deggs, former asst coach, and now head coach at ULL. With TCU’s season coming to a crushing end on Sunday, the reports are still floating that head coach Jim Schlossnagle is strongly considering leaving Fort Worth to become the next head coach at Mississippi State. Money does not appear to be a driving factor here, as Schlossnagle makes $1.5 million per year, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in the sport. On Sunday evening Schlossnagle said, “I love Fort Worth, I love TCU. If they call me, we’ll see what they have to say. I’ve shown my loyalty to TCU over and over for 15 years and TCU and Fort Worth have been incredible to my family.” tps://www.heartlandcollegesports.com/2018/05/29/reports-jim-schlossnagle-still-considering-leaving-tcu-for-mississippi-state/?__cf_chl_jschl_tk__=7f53f84a03404fd9ea9d8d0c325ddb9271ee53a1-1620754944-0-AaImmcsoNLQ5VmAfT-U7sDPZUezSdO

Obituary. Services 12PM, 12 May, Riverbend Church, Austin Thoughts and Prayers for the Ehlinger Family. AUSTIN, Texas – Arrangements for a Celebration of Life service have been set for Texas Football linebacker Jake Ehlinger, who passed away Thursday, May 6. Services for Ehlinger will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 12, at Riverbend Church Home for Hope, located at 4124 N. Capital of Texas Highway in Austin. In lieu of flowers, the Ehlinger family is asking that donations be made to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Those looking to do so can donate on a secure webpage by clicking here or by sending to Steve Vittornini at 478 Live Oak Lane, Spicewood, Texas 78669. University of Texas football player, McCombs School of Business second-year finance student, Phi Gamma Delta fraternity member, and a member of the Texas Silver Spurs, Jake was known for his larger-than-life joyful personality, grit, selflessness, and generous spirit of enthusiasm and encouragement. Jake never knew a stranger; whether you were meeting him for the first time or were a lifelong friend, he made you feel like you were the most important person in the room. He had the biggest smile and never judged a soul, spending his life spreading joy. Jake was the middle child who was the glue of his family, with the ability to turn tears into laughter in a moment. He was his dad’s little buddy, and they shared an unbreakable bond. His father’s spirit was alive and well in every part of Jake’s life. Tragic life circumstances created a unique opportunity for Sam and Jake to uplift and empower each other. They were each other’s biggest fans. Their mother, Jena, as well as their sister, Morgen, were the loves of Jake’s life. Everyone will miss his giant hugs, but no one more than Jena and Morgen. Jake was a gifted and fierce athlete from the start and maximized his non-stop motor, no-quit attitude, and willingness to rise to any challenge. Captain of the Westlake football team and a well-respected linebacker at the University of Texas, Jake fulfilled countless dreams at both schools, including sharing the field with his brother, Sam, who played quarterback. Westlake Head Football Coach Todd Dodge said, “Jake Ehlinger’s legacy will live on forever in Westlake Football. His pure toughness and willingness to do anything for his team is unmatched in the years that we’ve been together at Westlake.” Longhorn Football Coach Steve Sarkisian said, “Being a Longhorn meant everything to him, and he truly embodied all that it means to be one. In the short time we were able to get to know him, he always was a joy to be around and gave everything he had in workouts, meetings, practice and in life.” Jake’s friends meant the world to him and were a lifeline of entertainment and acceptance. The family cannot thank his countless friends enough for playing Chess, watching movies, hunting, listening to music, boating, praying with him, and loving him. Before sports and his academic and social lives, Jake valued his family above all else. Nothing was more important than his mother, Jena Cissel Ehlinger, his older brother, Samuel George Ehlinger, and his baby sister, Morgen Adeline Ehlinger. To honor Jake’s legacy, we hope to go forward with even a portion of the joy that Jake brought us. Services for Jake will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 12 at Riverbend Church Home for Hope, 4124 N. Capital of Texas Hwy. In lieu of flowers, the Ehlinger family is asking that donations be made to Fellowship of Christian Athletes c/o Steve Vittorini, 478 Live Oak Lane, Spicewood, Texas 78669 or on a secure webpage at: https://my.fca.org/?=name+stevevittorini They will also let everyone know about other ways to honor Jake very soon. Thank you for your care and concern. The family is beyond grateful for your support. “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.” - Philippians 4:13 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” - Ephesians 2: 8-9 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” - Psalm 34:18 https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/austin-tx/jacob-ehlinger-10184093

A reporter asked the same question. 🙂 The reporters asked Jim how a running back from Wisconsin got to Texas. "By plane," Koy said Bertelsen replied without expression. “And,” Koy said, “he wasn’t trying to be a smart aleck.” Below is a great, lengthy article on Jim's career worth the read. Has some great photos. Will post one below. It is oft forgotten he scored the tying touchdown in the historic 1969 Arkansas game. Worster and Street had the attention of the media. RIP Jim, Thanks for the memories ! https://www.hookem.com/story/sports/2021/05/07/bohls-jim-bertelsens-great-texas-career-says-all/4995161001/

Check again. Just started on ESPNU.

Thanks for the reply ! Also, concerned about defense and the wind's effect on the catcher's throws, popups, flyballs. TCU has stolen 80/100, we are 63/80. Potential for alot of running. TCU fielding .979, we .980. Texas leads the league in SH with 36, TCU only 4. Would expect that TCU has really worked on bunt defense. Playoff baseball !
