  1. You fool, hulla. Matt has no creative instinct or artistic flair. He just does what we tell him we want done. We need an artiste!
  2. Another vote for cactus burner and wire brush.
  3. Kingsford competition (stock up when on sale at Costco) with wood chunks. Sometimes when I'm doing a brisket, I will put an 18" oak split log in the middle of the firebox and load up charcoal on each side of the log for the Minion method.
  4. I am still trying to picture 4 to 6 people fishing at the same time from one boat. Things got cramped when we had 3 people fishing from the Champion bass boat I used to own.
  5. Godspeed. Work it.
  6. I would say the WSM is better than a similarly priced offset smoker. Holds temps better and requires much less babysitting.

    Cut short

  8. I have a Lang that is a reverse flow. I like it. Holds a nice steady temperature evenly across the grate. I also have a WSM that I like for smaller cooks. Jimmy, from what you are describing, my vote would be the WSM. Go up to the 22", however.

    Kayaking

Things got a little western with hulla on Saturday, no doubt. A fair sized oak had gotten undercut and fell all the way across the river. About 8 inches or so of the tree was above water and the rest underneath. The river was up and flowing fast. Spectacular trainwreck from hulla first, with kayak getting wedged and held under the tree by current. Big group behind us pitched in and got him and his boat out from under the tree and to the far bank. Then Mrs. hulla decided to paddle from the far bank over to where the rest of us were portaging kayaks through the treetop on the other bank. She ended up broadside to the current and met the tree also. Her yak is swamped and stuck under the tree and she is clinging to an older downed tree about 20 yards downstream. Wade out into the middle of the river and throw her a rope and drag her back over while the group of river hippies tie a rope to the rear handle on her kayak (all that you can see of it, rest is under water under the tree) and manage to pull it out. Lessons I learned - don't tie your paddle leash to the pop-on console or you will lose both console and your paddle. Dragging your boat through a bunch of limbs is less painful than almost drowning. Keep your sunglasses croakie pulled down tight.
  10. This piece of shit and his girlfriend killed my high school friend Carl Rinkle. Carl was 26 years old and had just sold his little country store to IGA for about a half million dollars:
  11. naoch, per Roman. Not noach.
  12. Not a bunch of sneks in Uptown.
  13. Buzzrock is suburban Atlanta, GA, like me. However, our relative demographics are sharply divergent.
  14. She doesn't fit your usual profile for a female, Vic.
  15. Tabasco pairs well with oysters on the half shell.
  16. Ditto, dammit.
  17. Mezzetta hot pickled jalapeno peppers are the best pickled jalapenos. Come at me, bro.
  18. I wanna party with you, cowboy.
  19. Pinche gringo ranch water. Topo or death.
  20. OK then.
  21. No rice?
  22. Even better, there is a large Toyota dealership there that buys a lot of ad time on the TV. It is owned by a family named Beaver. That's right, the Cumming Beavers.
  23. OCD naoch! Each with its own dab of cheese, all perfectly arranged.
  24. Let's see: $23.50 per day for doggy care Approximately $20 per day on lunch Probably $40 per week for after work drinks Gas and depreciation from no 26 mile RT commute in Atlanta traffic Probably $5 a day in laundry/dry cleaning Easily, at least $300 per week savings.
